2013 Recruiting: 17 Verbals

sunday said:
I gotta believe with the close game @ WSU and the two victories in Montana that Eastern's recruiting ability in the Northwest for 2013 just sky rocketed. Heck, even in Idaho...unless a kid is going to Boise St. why would you go to the two other schools?

Even then... we snagged Cody McCarthy away from BSU because of our success and him wanting to play early. Boise wanted him to walk on or gray shirt. Recruiting has definitely taken a big step forward in the last 3-4 years it seems, we're getting some pretty incredible athletes choosing EWU.

When we dropped off our son in August, several coaches said the same thing. They believe the incoming 2012 class is going to be special. Every year if you pick up a few kids you may not have gotten a few years ago...you build a dynasty.

did you guys see this?! I'm an Oregon State fan from birth as well. so i love this.

That is pretty cool.

How does OSU go from having one of the crappiest seasons/teams, to one of the best in only a year?

I think EWU should check this kid out.

While I was watching the Cal Poly/NAU game online, I believe the announcers were talking to a Big Sky representative, who said he believes this conference is on the verge of an explosion of talent. Kids wanna win. They don't want to sit. I think the best days @ EWU are ahead....just pay the coach. :notworthy:

Just learned today that Nic Sblendorio of Skyline HS Sammamish, WA (4A), WR/S, received an offer from EWU. Season stats thru 12 games are 857 yds/46 catches/9TDs/71.4yds per game/18.63yds per catch. !st team All Kingco WR and Safety. Others players at Eastern from Skyline are Tyler and Nick Washburn, Evan Day, Jase Butorac and last year grad Jason Harris. Sblendorio is 6'/190 and fast. Skyline has won 4 of the last 4A titles and is in the semi's again this year at 12-0. Also has an offer from N. Colorado.

What are you guys hearing about recruits? I know my son came up for his official last year in January, so, we have to have some action going on right now with HS winding down.

Also, what are our greatest positional need(s) to recruit?

I don't know how talented Keylin Huddleston (6'6) and the other two 6'2 receivers are. But depending on their abilities, we should really focus on getting talented tall receivers to replace the trio we currently have.

We definitely need to hit it hard on LB recruitment. I just don't really see anyone stepping up after Johnson and Hamlin are gone. Maybe McCarthy will hit his stride.

Unless there is a must grab athlete, we are probably sitting pretty with RBs. We have talented a talented quarterback to build around. Offensive/defensive line is always a gimme, just depends on the talent out there. It looks like the coaching staff covered DBs last year.

Rjoines61,
All RS Wide Receivers are going to fill in next year for our team perfectly :thumb: :thumb: . We have some very great RS Freshmen from the last Recruiting Class. LB,DL,OL,QB   . We are going to lose some Outstanding Players, we see that every 4-5 years. Our Coaches does Outstanding job Recruiting. I always wonder how we get such Outstanding Players with the little/FEW Scholarships. Our Coaches really work with the recruits and their Families. One of our RB is still having headaches, hope he can get over. I will not utilize his name, I told him on Thursday, we really admire how he plays as a RB, would rather see him healthy and not suffering.
Sure most of you know who he is. He still have about three years to go. Here is to hoping he get healthy from dizziness spells. Good Morning. Vic

Vic do you sleep?

That is not good news for our RB wish him the best for all of us. We all want him to get better!

EWU98,
Thanks for your concern bud. I take little cat naps during the day, and little difficulty sleeping at nights. I think it is a carry over of 20 years + in the Military, working the different shifts. Now I see why they call the Midnight-08:00am the "GRAVE YARD SHIFT".   I am doing better, but a little tired. Not tired enough to keep me away from this game today.   My family worries about me also, they keep telling me I am pushing myself too much. I will try to slow down a little. I was so tired all day yesterday, after I got home from EWU BB win over CS-Fullerton 79-75, I got into bed about 10:30pm, and slept until about 4:30am. Got up feeling refreshed. Take Care, and GO EAGLES!!!!! Vic

To All,
I knew we have lost just 2 games at Roos Field. Heard on SWX Sports this morning that we have won 12 straight games since Dec. last year. That is an outstanding record for our team. I didn't feel cold yesterday at the game. We must give Wagner credit, the came with their game plan. I wasn't worried because I knew the caliber of team we has. I got more frustrated than worried. Wagner has an outstanding team, we were the better yesterday.

I am not going to guess is our QB will be next Saturday, I leave that up to our Coach. Now there are 8 teams left, and each game will get tougher, I put my money on our team if I was a gambler. With 7 children, I couldn't afford to gamble. ;) ;) Someone has to lose in this playoff, I have the confidence in the Eagles.

Eastern Illinois is not going to be a push over, we just have to worry about our team being ready for that day. I think our team was rusty from the long law off, w/o making excuses. I know they will. Like I have said before, I do not like to mention names, but Brandon Kaufman, he is so "Great", it is hard to believe the catches he makes. I saw the catch he made yesterday on SWX this morning, he has very good concentration, I taught he had dropped the ball. Amazing WR. :thumb: :thumb: Will pick up my 4 Reserve Tickets tomorrow. My :twocents: worth. GO EAGLES!!!!! Vic Wallace

That Brandon Kaufman play was crazy. Even when he drops the ball, he still catches it before it hits the ground! I don't know if I've ever seen that before. He flat missed it and dropped it and had the presence of mind to reach down a scoop it up before it hit the ground.

Forgot to mention, Larry Weir mentioned that we had 7,439 personnel that attended the game, should be, greater this game, we hope. I have never seen so many people under the weather(hope you know what I mean), some had to be asked to leave, or they fell asleep and missed the game. Comical :ohno: :ohno:   Vic

Now that the season is over, I'll be looking into what's going on with recruiting a little more. Stay tuned.
