Keep in mind that most of these offers have been to non-committed top prospects and the Viks are competing with a number of FBS programs for these players - JUST AS IT SHOULD BE !

If I missed someone or screwed something up let me know. I can add and delete to this list as we learn more.

West Salem’s Matt Sommer adds Idaho, Jesuit’s Ryan Brown gets first offer from PSU:

In one of the best stories of 2012 Jesuit lineman Ryan Brown (6-6 265 Sr. OL) received his first D1 offer from Portland State, and could potentially add UNLV in the coming week. Brown dealt with injuries for part of his HS career, and didn’t even start for part of his senior year.

With that said he put in one of the most outstanding off season’s we have seen in some time. There wasn’t an event or workout that he missed, doing everything in his power to improve his game. This and a very impressive 2012 campaign landed him an offer from the Vikings, and others schools have started to take notice.

Brown was part of an offensive line that featured Oregon Commit- Doug Brenner (6-3 280 Sr. C/DL), Washington Commit- Andrew Kirkland (6-5 300 Sr. OL), and Harvard Commit- Max Rich (6-7 315 Sr. OL).

Ryan’s upside is through the roof as he is pushing 6-7, and just got better and better as the year progressed. His film improved immensely making him a viable D1 recruit, and someone that’s just an overall good kid. Brown’s got an awesome support system at home, and comes from a football family so love of the game has always been there.

We wish Brown continued success and will keep everyone updated on another D1 lineman from Jesuit

Football Program Signs Three During JC Signing Period

Portland State football has signed three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2013-14 academic year during the junior college early signing period.

Linebackers Jake Woolley and Jeremy Lutali, and tight end Tyson Heller have all signed with the Vikings program. Woolley and Heller will be juniors in 2013, Lutali will be a sophomore.

Lutali, a 5-11, 230-pounder, graduated from Long Beach (CA) Poly High School in 2012 and was a Division I qualifier out of high school, but attended Los Angeles Harbor Junior College this past fall. Lutali led the Southern California Football Association Central Division with 108 tackles in 11 games. He also had 10.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions and a sack on the season. Lutali earned first team All-Conference honors.

Heller, who attended Santa Barbara City College, had 27 receptions for 313 yards and three touchdowns. A 6-3, 250-pounder, Heller is originally from Caldwell, ID. He earned second team All-Conference honors.

Woolley is a 6-4, 225-pounder from College of the Canyons. He is originally from Moorpark (CA) High School. Playing in nine games at College of the Canyons this past fall, Woolley had 39 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks and an interception.

Looks like all had quite a bit of D1 interest, and Woolley had an offer from Arizona.

Hopefully all can come in and contribute right away.

Looking for the glory rather than the academics? So it goes. Have fun in the boonies.

But it's also pretty telling when he's an Eastern Washington kid anyways.

And we have good RBs anyways.

looking at the list on further up the thread, I'm struck at how few DB's they seem to be going after. I'm starting to wonder if there aren't going to be some players converting to other positions.....

Good point - My read on it, after looking at the reports of these players on that list, is that many of them are "athletes", in the sense that their athleticism would allow the coaching staff considerable flexibility in slotting them where needed. Many, because they are some of the best athletes on their respective H.S. or J.C. teams, played both offense and defense. Also, last year's class (2012) should bolster the D this upcoming season as they continue their development. I'm more concerned right now in filling our Defensive Coordinator position. I think we've had the players, with just better direction needed.

It's tough when the pool of talented defensive backs in high school is so small. The ladies like the touchdowns.

At PSU I immediately think of our Maseeh School of Engineering and School of Urban Affairs. Laughing aside, Screamin', what's Eastern known for academically speaking? And how many Phds do you turn out a year? Just curious.

Skyler Phillips lost Beaver scholarship offer !

http://www.northwestprepreport.com/osu-chooses-to-not-honor-scholarship-for-top-local-linemen

Any chance this manchild will be offered an opportunity by the Viks?

Also, it would be a shame to lose THIS kid (Sammy Long) to Montana or EWU !

http://www.northwestprepreport.com/...-on-after-huskies-refuse-to-honor-their-offer

Curious. Do these schools even let these kids know that there is a remote chance that they may have to pull their offer? It's like the airline industry and oversold flights. It's a drag when the plane is full, but you sort of show up at the gate knowing that there's a chance that there will be more people than seats.

I'd feel a little better if these school were a transparent up front so that the offer doesn't just vanish with no explanation.

My guess would be that the school does say something at the time of commitment. The possibility of a suit guarantees that. But what kid would notice in the excitement of the commitment? Many areas of the world consider a verbal commitment to be rock solid. We don't. Got to be on paper.

Good story on Norcross.
