2014 Recruiting

Word is we got the UCLA DT, big time players on the last trip, including East Bay Player of the Year
The UCLA DT would make sense- I read he was looking for a business school. Davis has Econ and CP is Ag Bus.

This would be a great pickup for the Hornets.

The Hornets rival, UC Davis, are claiming on their fan forum 13 commits. Of these commits, 8 are reportedly 2-star ranked, which would be a great recruiting class for the Aggies.

Are there any totals for the Hornet recruiting Haul for 2014?

Joe Davidson just tweeted that DeAundre Terrell has committed to the Hornets, as well as Tyler Meeter.

New Commit: Taylor Tappin OL 6-5/295 Windsor, CA.
Very under the radar prospect but Sac State has been on him since last season. Biggest strength is as a pass blocker.

Unlike people on other boards most here are smart enough to realize that verbal commitments mean nothing until the ink dries on the NLI next Wednesday Check back then.

Yup. Cool that these announcements are made, but meaningless until they are inked. Signing party in the Alumni Center next Wednesday at 5:30 was posted on Facebook for anyone interested.

OK, I went through the posts, and here is what I got.

8 commitments, 3 from the Jucos, 2 from Nevada. One "rated" recruit, though feel free to double check. It looks like the Hornets will get some immediate help with these 5 transfers.

Just doing some research on the possible East Bay Player of the Year recruit, this kid came up...and he is SICK:

Nsimba Webster
http://rivals.yahoo.com/basketballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Nsimba-Webster-150536" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He was the East Bay Offensive POY as a dual threat QB from Antioch and has an offer from Sac. Kid is very Russell Wilson-like if they keep him at QB:

He actually made CNNSI with this play in the playoffs:

Saw a tweet either this morning or last night that someone from Deer Valley had committed to EWU. I don't remember who it was.

Edit: Just found the tweet. They are either twins or cousins or twin cousins
Looks like he also had a Sac St offer.

Antioch (Calif.) Deer Valley athlete Nzuzi Webster has committed to Eastern Washington...

According to the Sac St page on Rivals/Yahoo!, the hornets received a verbal from WR Jaelin Ratliff. Chose SSU over Wyo.

They are twins, I believe. The Offensive POY is Nsimba

Any WR, DB, DL, or LB that comes in now has a chance to challenge for serious playing time. Liking what I see so far...

And RB...pretty much everything but OL, TE and QB are wide open imo.

Nsimba and Nzuzi are twins. Nsimba was the QB and Nzuzi was the WR. The Hornets offered both of them a few months ago. It was looking like they were kind of a packaged deal. Hopefully Nsimba, the better player, doesn't follow his brother to EWU. I heard the brothers were receiving interest from Cal, so perhaps Nsimba lands there. If not, I hope he spurns EWU for Sac State. I saw him in a playoff game against mighty De La Salle and he single handedly ripped their defense form27 points, which doesn't happen often. Like Vercher, he's short, but the kid is a phenomenal athlete. The Hornets need more kids like him. If they land Nsimba, after already getting a commit from Dre Terrell and Jaelin Ratliff, their offensive speed and skill level will have taken a big step forward.

OL Ruben Meza from Murrieta Mesa High School committed yesterday. He was a 3 year starter at LT for his HS Team.

I noticed his name on the Rivals SSU page. I thought someone else had already posted that. That's why I did't. 3.7 GPA, 1st team selection in his HS's league = awesome commit. He's definitely a sleeper find.I wonder where his other planned visits were to?

Here's his Hudl film. He will require some work. Diamond in the rough. He's a massive blocker. A powerful one. No one defender lined up directly in front of him ever pressured the QB. Very good find.

That's a big boy with a mean streak...impressive

Joey Banks flipped his commit from NAU to Sac State. Good get for the Hornets.

Just saw that on twitter, that sucks for NAU, good for Sac, hehehehe...

Via congrats tweets found a couple other Sac commits

John Wagstaff from Christian Brothers
