Joey Banks flipped his commit from NAU to Sac State. Good get for the Hornets.

Thanks for the FYI. Looks like the hornet coaches are busting their butts off bringing home the goods with this recruiting class.

Extenuating circumstances? I'm not really a fan of a kid breaking his word like that. But if there were extenuating circumstances (NAU doesn't have his major, ended up not liking the campus or the coach, family issues tying him to the Sac area, etc.), that would excuse it.

Relax, this is just part of the recruiting game. Verbals are meaningless and recruits are only locks once they sign. Hell even then they can change their mind and you know what, that is perfectly ok with me.

One of his teammates committed to Sac State and I am sure he knows a few other of the Sac area recruits. He probably decided he wanted to play closer to home and with his friends.

Just read via twitter that the Hornets received a commitment from Isiah Hennie of San Marcos HS. He's another smallish WR/RB that had 1500+ receiving yards over 15 receiving TD's and 6 rushing scores. I only found one youtube highlight of him, but he looks to have some serious speed.

Between Isiah Hennie, Dre Terrell, and Jaelin Ratliff, it's obvious that the Hornets coaching staff is placing an emphasis on speed. I really hope they somehow land Nsimba Webster and a tall receiver in the mold of Brandyn Reed. Perhaps they might be thinking of using the 6'4" Tyler Meteer in that role, though, even though he is a standout defender?

Looks like we got a verbal commitment tonight from a KICKER! Check out his hudl video. The kid nailed a 56-yarder this season.

Great kickoffs. He will need to work on that trajectory on field goals. Sometimes he got the ball up but others the low trajectory will get blocked, but he has a heck of a leg, that is for sure!

I did not watch his highlight film but i was able to watch a few games he played in this last year. He has a strong leg but he is hit and miss. Sometimes he will blast a great looking FG and then the next one is a complete shank. But the potential is there.

Here's the final list:

Looks like Sac State lost Nsimba Webster to Eastern Washington...that's gonna be tough to swallow for the next four years

Yeah, losing out on Nsimba hurts. Too bad his brother committed to EWU so early as it looked all along that they were a packaged deal.

One player not on that final list is Deaundre Terrell from Pleasant Grove. According to his twitter page, he can't sign until March. Not sure what the deal with that is.

Overall, this looks to be a very, very good class. A couple of 2 star rated players and one 3 star rated player, according to ESPN.

Oh yeah, forgot about Terrell...

Great recruiting class! Looks like we addressed a lot of specific needs. We have a lot of talent and experience coming back. Let's hope everyone is healed and healthy, we were running on empty at the end of last season. Welcome all new Hornets!

that Isiah Henne is tiny but quick as hell, perhaps a Darren Sproles type....

Too funny, I just finished watching some extensive footage on the kid and came here to make the same exact comment. Very Darren Sproles like. The kid not only is fast (4.45) but he seems to not lose much speed when quickly changing directions and has good field vision. I bet, if nothing else, that kid is the Hornets kick returner his freshmen year. He's an exciting looking player.

Also, I'm quite intrigued with both Jabarri Johnson and Peter Nonu.

Johnson is the Brandyn Reed type receiver (6'3" 185) I was hoping the Hornets would land. The most intriguing thing about him, aside from obvious size/talent, is that he has only played football for one year. The Hornets could have a real gem on their hands if they can develop the kid properly.

As for Nonu, he just looks to have really good agility for a player his size/weight. I didn't see enough to know whether he can control the middle of the field on running plays, but it sure looks like he can rush the passer.

Lastly, I don't see the kickers name on the final list, so I wonder if he's in the same boat as Dre Terrell in not being able to sign until March, or if he'll be a preferred walk-on.

The group is comprised of 14 defensive players and nine on the offensive side of the ball. On defense, the Hornets brought in seven defensive backs, four defensive linemen and two linebackers. Included in that group are local standouts Tyler Meteer (Del Oro HS), Joey Banks (Franklin HS), Printess Johnson and Ernest Jenkins (both of Burbank). Meteer and Banks were both all-state selections last season and all four were all-conference selections. Also new to the unit is defensive tackle Brandon Tuliaupupu who transferred from UCLA and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

On offense, the Hornets signed four linemen, four receivers and a running back.

Damn good haul on the DL considering the coaching changes. I think this class addresses some of the needs entering next season. Got some size to play the interior DL, more LBs to go with the young returners we have coming back, more DBs the join the inexperienced bunch we have returning there.

OL didn't need much but more OL depth was added, some WRs added to the mix and finally a RB weighing more than 180 pounds was brought in.

8 of these guys are mid year transfers so they will be in spring camp giving them more time to get accustomed to this program. Good job by the coaching staff, I wasn't expecting that big of a recruiting class this season.

Wow, there is a lot to be excited about with this recruiting class (I know all schools think that). I'm particularly excited about the size we've added in the defensive backfield (Jenkins), potential special teams gamebreakers (Hennie), diamonds in the rough (Johnson), and a bruising back (Reddick). I also like the JC/HS balance and the fact that we've got an anchor for the DL (Tuliaupupu).

BSC Recruits by school;

Impressive Hornet class! I noticed far fewer Sacramento area athletes landing at other BSC schools than in past. We finally seem to be establishing ourselves as first choice for area BSC athletes which is important.
We also seemed to have won many of the head to head recruiting battles with Poly and the dungpile!

Great job coaches, I can't wait until the season starts!

Who are the big recruiters on staff? Who recruits the local guys? Sperbeck?

From the website it looks like Fred Kelly is primarily responsible for recruiting the Sacramento Area.

"They’ll walk on – Bee All-Metro players Dre Terrell of Pleasant Grove and Kyle Wells of Del Oro will be preferred walk-ons at Sacramento State and Cal.

Terrell, who played quarterback and cornerback for the Eagles, will play slot for the Hornets. His tuition will be paid through a Veterans Affairs disability from his father, Derrick, who was in the Air Force for 14 years before being medically discharged in 2006."
