Harwell is a serious recruit. He is going to have the local schools really attacking him. Cannon was nice find. A total gem, since he flew under the radar because he didn't play for a "big-time" AAU program and wasn't at a major high school (not that you can really call Century a major high school either). I know that USU offered Harwell sometime in the summer. I hope the late attention doesn't hurt the Cats.

And another one chooses poorly. :bad:

We can't take everyone on our list. Weber is done recruiting, even though we have 1 more scholarship to award. I'm sure this kid would much rather live in Ogden than in Moscow Idaho. Good luck to him though. He will be visiting the DEE in his future career. :notworthy:

Ar'mond Davis...he reported receiving interest from Weber State on 10/10/13. I know recruits have been visiting. Maybe the Cats are planning on using the last scholarship that is available. He hasn't reported an offer though.

I would appreciate it if someone could give us a list of who has given their verbal agreement to play for the Wildcats next year................Tal, this would be you.

Aye aye, Capt.

C Zach Braxton
C/F Ryan Van Pelt (he will be signing next May when he gets back).
W Ryan Richardson
CG Jeremiah Jefferson
PG Hayden Hunter

One Remaining Scholarship.

I hope this is helpful.

How many 2014 recruits will we redshirt? I'm thinking two...... Maybe Braxton and Hunter. Give a chance to develop college bodies.

With Trez gone I think Braxton will be needed right away. Going to need more than Hajek and a just returned Van Pelt. My guess is that Richardson and Hunter get redshirts.

I think Braxton will get significant minutes. Hunter and Richardson are likely choices to RS. Jefferson will start and be a solid contributor.

I thought it was always smart to redshirt big guys! Doesn't seem smart to waste a year of eligibility for Braxton. High School big guys struggle with how physical the college game is today. Why not redshirt him and make him live in the weight room?

The biggest problem is that we really don't have much with which to back Hajek up with. Yes, Bolomboy could play either the 4 or 5, but he is our starting 4. Maybe Hill could play the 4 and Bolomboy could move to the 5. I think the desire is to find another Big who could play right away. We know that Van Pelt doesn't have a red shirt available, so he will be playing right away. I agree, might not be a bad thing to red shirt Braxton. Who knows.

Looks like Ryan coming back and will be ready for next season!

I'm thinking that the only way we add anybody in the spring is if they are better than anyone we already have in the program. I'm not saying that we won't add a player, just that it is unlikely. Someone really good would have to fall into our lap. :coffee:

All NCAA teams have 13 scholarships to award. Right now the Cats are playing with 11 scholarship players. Personally, I don't think it is a wise way to ever go into a season, with some of your scholarships not being used.

Depth and bench players are essential for all teams. You aren't going to get all of your players to be top notch talent. Right now, we really are in need of better leaders. We desperately need more Bullinger, Hughey, and Mahoney types. I see what you are saying, and I agree, but I'd rather have all 13 scholies used with players, than to let a scholarship go un-used or being used by a player who has a small chance of ever playing DI basketball, which is what I think is happening right now. Look at Weber currently. We have two players injured (Hajek and Fulton) and two scholarships not being used, that means only 9 Scholarship players are available. It is about having a full bench and having multiple players available. Rather than having 1 reserve, have 2 or even 3. Also, this team is in desperate need, well right now, of experienced veterans who can help out right away and lead. Getting a JC guy would be a good addition for next years team; especially if he can give the Cats between 7 and 10 ppg and 4 or 5 rpg.
