2014 Recruits

Nice job Tal;

That is a good list. There will probably be a few more on that list before the summer is over. Less than half of those will actually visit. There are a few of them that may want to commit early, if they are actually wanting to be part of our program. We have a very strong program and many of these young men can make us even stronger. Many of them can see that now and many of them will see that when they visit. I just hope that someone doesn't get left out because they take too long to make their wishes known. I know that has happened to some players in the past.

When the scholarships are gone, they are gone. It is that simple. We have 4, possibly 5, grants to offer. That may seem like a lot, but it is not. I know that our coaches will ask the recruits to hold off on commitment until they have visited. That is, often, wise advise for both sides. Both sides want to see how they might mesh with the team and community. However, after they have visited, they should not hesitate to make their feelings known, one way or the other. I feel that if they are undecided, the coaches will move on quickly. A very high percentage of our visiting recruits commit and sign with us. The package/program that we are offering is very good.

I'm confident and excited for the upcoming season!

Go WILDCATS!! :rockon:

MITCHEL 'Mitch' SOLOMON

After this latest round of activity, I feel that it is virtually assured that we will be signing at least one more big this fall, and maybe two if we don't get the guard that we want. We are now in on some really talented bigs. Braxton, Sherman, Solomon, and Humphrey among others. Our need for good, future guards is still there, but it is not as pressing this year and next. This is shaping up to be a very talented and interesting recruiting class. :thumb: :thumb:

2015 Recruits:

I'm not sure, but I think I got a chance to watch them play some rat ball at the Dee. I had no idea who the unofficials were though. They looked good.

Gabe Vincent has made a verbal commitment to UC Santa Barbara. Good luck in Santa Barbara Gabe!!

Michael Humphrey and Dorian Pickens have trimmed their lists and have both cut Weber from their lists of continued consideration. Nothing to huge about these announcements. Neither were considered top recruits, at this time, by the Cats. Both are good players and I wish them luck in their future endeavors.

Interesting offer...but Arkadiy Mkrtychyan from Turkmenistan has received an offer from the Cats. He is a 6-7 SF. Who knows how long this kid has been on our radar. He has offers from Oregon State, Seattle, Stony Brook, Portland State, and Weber. He has been receiving a lot of interest from Washington and also, St. Mary's. I think he is playing in Oregon at a 1A school. Could end up being a find. Another diamond in the rough.

Lillard is in town. I wonder if any recruits visiting this week will get to meet him? Could be why he is here. Would that be an NCAA violation? You never know with the NCAA.

From what I have heard, no, it is not an NCAA Violation. But...I'm definitely not an expert. Maybe compliance can chime in and clear the waters a bit for us.

But, yeah, not a bad thing having the reigning Rookie of the Year on hand when big time recruits come a visiting.

Any word how the 2013 Freshman are looking? Should be on campus and comfortable with the environment...... Going to be an interesting year!

Bolomboy introduced me to Gittens. Good kid. Seemed like he was just trying to get settled in to the semester. I like that our athletes know that they are students first.

Arkadiy Mkrtychyan looks like a big point guard to me. That kid can really pass the melon. He sees the floor really well and handles the ball with confidence. He doesn't look like an athletic type, but he is highly skilled. Also, I would question the competition he has been playing against. I'm not sure how he would fit in with the bunch we have now. :twocents:

I got a chance to watch some rat ball this past June and a bit in early July before the team went home for the summer and from what I could see, they looked really good and were adjusting nicely. Fuller, needs to find his legs again, after being gone for two years, but from the first time to the last time I saw him, he had really picked up his game.
