SO after watching the Utah/BYU game last night they flashed Utahs up coming schedule and I gotta say it makes no sense to not play weber or USU..

12/05/15 vs. IPFW Salt Lake City (Huntsman Center) 12:00 p.m. MT
12/12/15 at Wichita State TV Wichita, Kan. (Intrust Bank Arena) 2:30 p.m. CT
12/16/15 vs. Savannah State Salt Lake City (Huntsman Center) 6:00 p.m. MT
12/19/15 vs. Duke TV New York, N.Y. (Madison Square Garden) 12:00 p.m. ET
12/22/15 vs. Delaware State TV Salt Lake City (Huntsman Center) 7:00 p.m. MT
12/28/15 vs. College of Idaho TV Salt Lake City (Huntsman Center) 7:00 p.m. MT

If anything it costs less to play us.. and both schools would at least give them some of a game..

I mean they are flying in Delaware State for heavens sake. Just costs in plane tickets and hotel would pay for either school

Come on Wildcat_Fan. Where you been? Utah (overrated) now plays in the PAC (overrated) where their football teams (overrated) get constant Top 25 rankings (overrated). And Utah's basketball team (overrated) needs to now worry about their RPI (and overrated if not down right stupid ranking system that overrates power conferences and makes them run scared of mid major programs while allowing them to continually look down on them from the snooty high-minded, self declared superior position).

So there is no time to worry about tradition. If they play Duke on the road in preseason then they need to spend the rest of the preseason playing softies so they can bulk up their record before they go play their tough (overrated) conference schedule.

So why is it that U of Idaho (Big Sky) can host Washington St (Pac 12) this weekend yet Weber plays mostly hot smelly garbage at home. Why can't Weber host Wayne Tinkle and Oregon St? or hell I would even be happy to see Wyoming, Colorado St, Air Force, or any other MTN West team in the DEE. Instead we get 3 powers from the Pacific Coast Church league. :wall: Talk about frustrating. :wall: :wall:

someone on here recently was saying they saw the home schedule and stopped buying season tkts because they no longer saw the point.

what is the valid reason for the below questions regarding our "equals"?

a. they wont play us at all.
b. they wont come to ogden under any circumstance?
c. we rarely see a home and home with anyone
d. we have never seen a home and home with a bigger school
e. we never do a 2 for 1 with anyone ever
f. y didnt we do our annual guarantee game at a big school this yr? i dont really care for it but we usually have one.

:ohno:

sir velo guy,

too easy, ill answer them for you since you are new to college sports 101.

a. they wont play us at all.

answer: good observation. i take you mean schools that aren't non D1, non big west, non wac, non wcc. basically they do not play us but we do not really care. we can just host a non d1 to fill the void, otherwise we might only have 2-3 home ooc games if they started playing us.

b. they wont come to ogden under any circumstance?

see answer A as well we probably cant afford to host any schools since money is involved.

c. we rarely see a home and home with anyone

there is no valid answer for this. arent you happy about south dakota and denver?

d. we have never seen a home and home with a bigger school

they rarely play at a smaller school so tough luck, son.

e. we never do a 2 for 1 with anyone ever

we dont want extra losses on our record when we could just host a nond1.

f. y didnt we do our annual guarantee game at a big school this yr? i dont really care for it but we usually have one.

just be happy we dont have one this year because its an automatic loss. why lose @ #19 Okla when you can host 7th Day Adventist State and win by 50. dont forget this is not FCS. a win vs montana tech is equal to a win over duke.

I was told BYU is considered our money game this year since they gave us a whopping 45K to blind fold us and bend us over a barrel. We gladly offered them our soul as part of the deal.

Have you seen how many fans have made it out to the non D1 games so far? Not many more than 2,000. Mascot night and the Jazz dunk team haven't been able to save things. I have saved enough money to go to Reno by saving on the donation associated with my tickets. I am still going to 8 - 10 games this year and sitting in my dame seats so far. But I refuse to go to these non D1. These aren't even decent non D1 programs. I know 4th grade girls that have better ball handling skills than the players on Pacific Union.

:thumb: I couldn't have said it any better. I'm assuming, but I believe Wildcat_Fan was mocking the utes by merely copying their schedule. Well...at least to me he was.

looking over that schedule the first impression that hit me was the abject horror of their SOS. My question is, how can the utes justify this garbage schedule and still receive a top 25 ranking and a strong RPI? We complain about playing Antelop Valley and Pacific Union, but Savannah State for a PAC-12 should be just as embarrassing. I think it is time for major changes in the NCAA. Every NCAA DI member should not be allowed to play more than 17 home games per a 30 game schedule. Some schools leave their home-court for the first time in January for conference games. That is wrong! Reforms need to happen. It is totally out of balance and sick. Why do we love The Dance? Because we get to see teams that never leave their home courts get beat. It is awesome! We all love it and that is why we watch. To see the little guys upset the have alls! I'm all in favor of legislatures where state schools, that are part of the P5 -who are making gross amounts of money- force them to sharing that money with other state schools or be taxed. I'm sure the State of Utah could help pay medicare subsidies, help the other state schools improve their infrastructure and buildings, or help clean our air with the millions utah gets and wastes each year in their athletic program. Oregon having 189M in one year is ridiculous! What an absolutely waste!

If the P5 want to leave; then let them. Once they do, the remaining members of the NCAA, should file suit, for anti-trust, and since the left as a way to make more money and ensure their revenues, we know that they are not Non-Profits like NCAA programs are supposedly. Once they are gone and have their own money making league, then the states and Fed need to tax the hell out of their athletic programs. Force them to pay all of their athletes, including Olympic sports; they aren't Non-Profit. They are in it for the money. Finally, because they aren't in the NCAA for Football and Basketball, then they can't be for anything else. If they want to participate in NCAA sanctioned events, there should be major fines imposed for each athlete allowed to participate; Olympic Sports Included. That would include playing games against any NCAA school DI, II, III in any sport. $1000 per athlete on a football field or in a swimming pool. If the utes want to play Utah State every player the Utes bring should be an additional charge along with the initial guarantee. Finally, they need to end the "ruse" of being interested in the Academic success of student athletes. If they want to stay in the NCAA, then reforms need to be enacted. Schools caught cheating, need to be actually penalize and receive major penalties, like UNC and many others (KENTUCKY cheats constantly).

This garbage needs to end. You cannot measure an RPI accurately if a school plays a bunch of crap DI's and never leaves its home stadium and always has its conference refs. Last issue...refs need to be NCAA not conference. That would finally make games, at least, have the semblance of being fair.

CORRUPTION allows this crap to continue!! It is that easy to point a finger. ESPN, ABS, FOX, CBS, and NBC want to make $$$ off of their ridiculous contracts with the so-called power conferences. Money talks...Utah wins games, but when they have to hit the road there is a great chance they lose. Wichita State will skin the utes but they will remain in the top 25? Probably. UNI beats UNC, College of Charleston beats LSU, etc etc etc...but they keep their spots on the lofty perch because they are allowed to play 10-12 OOC games at home against sub 300 teams, and get rewarded by the NCAA. Why? Well, because their conferences have the contracts and generate money. Look at all the idiot ute fans of this state...90% never attended one class there, but support them. Ugh...the system is the ugliest and most corrupt ever. The G5 and other Lower-Conferences need to band against the P5 and humble them.

I caught Wildcat_Fan's mock. I was just trying to keep the mocking rolling. It irritates me to no end how other fans in Utah treat the U so gently. I remain ticked off at their new found haughty nature. Taking us and USU off their schedule because of some magical RPI formula that now dictates P5 scheduling is a joke. I know that YBU tends to still be the easiest target of fan frustration, but mine has switched over to Ute fans who I find to be completely intolerable because of their overblown egos about being in the PAC12 (overrated).

Your rant about corruption is right on. And the thing that blows this whole RPI BS out of the water is the Big Dance. How well did you (to this board collectively) do in your brackets last year, or the year before? The NCAA tournament is fan magic not because P5 conferences dominate it, but because of the wonderful cinderella stories that are written each year. And, personally, I love when my bracket gets busted by some mid-major, that I know nothing about, knocks off some high RPI P5 team. Sure there are 5-8 teams that may be able to dominate and get to the Final 4, but given the next 60 teams that play in there are a lot of games that are complete crap shoots no matter what the RPI disparity is. P5 power is self-declared (and backed by TV). RPI plays into it. The Utes are a perfect example with a soft schedule, but high RPI ranking merely because the PAC12 is overrated to start the season on purpose for TV dollars. Now the PAC may be a great basketball conference this year, or it may a pretty pedestrian conference like it has been the past several years (and still get 5 or 6 teams in). We don't know until some games have been played. But corruption dictates that it be given a big boost to start the season so that ESPN, ABS, FOX, CBS, and NBC make back their $$$.
