2015-16 Schedule

Coach Rahe made a good schedule because travel on the road doesn't look too exhausting due to long stretches. If we are going to have lower division teams come to town, why not Dixie and Westminster?

Ill be honest. Im so bummed right now its not even funny. With this schedule whats the point in going to games? I understand supporting our school and athletes but realistically if every team gets into the tournament and we have no games at home besides USU and Montana whats the point? We dont have teams fighting to get into the tourney and the last week is mayhem, were all just going...1 seed doesnt get rewarded and gets to host which is the real bummer.
So save your money and get a hotel and even a plane flight to Reno when the games actually matter!

Exactly... I'm not necessarily bummed, just not excited about Weber hoops. Always loved the chance to host, and the meaning that brought the conference season. Now everybody's going to Reno, except the fans, of course.

:thumb: The road schedule is not bad. Lots of neutral court games, limited travel (only the SDSU game is somewhat difficult to travel to) and solid competition. I am really disappointed in the home schedule. Yes, I love USU and a return game by SDSU, but the three NAIA is embarrassing to have on our schedule. One is fine, two is acceptable, but three?!? I understand why coach does it, to help the team get some rhythm, but really three? The Dec 1 game against Pacific Union College is the head scratcher. Oh well, it is what it is. The Cats could win 8-10 of the preseason games. To be honest, I don't see the Cats having an automatic loss anywhere on the schedule. Even the BYU game. I feel the Cats can compete in every single game.

I think that our Cats should compete in every single game. However, after last year's lack of toughness, I have some serious doubt about it. We had a team of nice guys. We could sure use a little more nastiness. I'm just not sure that playing these small programs is going to make us tougher. It seems like three backward steps to me. I don't see the value in it, other than to pad the record. That alone seems like pure BS. :coffee:

I understand. I just don't like the logic. I think it's flawed. :twocents:

I agree! I like the schedules that help a team realize how hard they have to work to get better. Playing up should be the #1 priority. Not winning games. The Big Sky is full of enough patsies. Wouldn't you want to get your team in a position to feel superior to other conference teams by having them playing teams from better conferences? Maybe after the travesty that was the Oklahoma game, coach has decided to build confidence by playing bad teams instead of building confidence by toughening up his players by playing good teams.

So since our road schedule is not too bad we are going to be listening to the games on the radio as Im assuming that the games wont be televised besides big sky play.
What to do about dutch? I dont know if I can make it thru another season listening to him on the radio. Ive had more palm to face moments that I developed a bruise by the end of the season

Tal covered this well....we are better served going into conference play with a tough schedule and 4-8 record. That's how good teams in poor conferences distinguish themselves. It's how schools like NMSU, Long Beach, and UC Irvine, Eastern, Montana, and Murray State get decent seeds in the NCAA's in spite of their conference. This schedule is more reflective of a team that aims to finish 8th a second year in a row.

This schedule makes me sick to my stomach... Just one more example of athletics embracing mediocrity. Grow some big'uns, step up your game. How did such a no name, out-of-the-mainstream school as Gonzaga achieve the stature that its basketball team enjoys today? One answer, up schedule! Don't worry about home and home. Travel, travel, travel. Gonzaga sucked it up went where they had to, played anyone who would play them and built a first rate program on the back of such. Now they have earned the right to play the big boys, even on their court occasionally. Can you imagine how much more fun it would be to be a fan of Gonzaga and attend their games than it is to attend Weber's games today?

Why is Weber so happy about being a big fish in the irrigation ditch? Will it ever change? Can you imagine how quickly we could put 11,000+ butts in the seats of the Dee if we would just make such a move. Lets pay up to get just one big time program to come to the Dee next year. Charge a few dollars extra for the seats for that game. Add $20 to the price of a season ticket. Market the hell out of the game and get enough people to pay for the game. As I said, "grow some big'uns!

BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME!!!!

In the latest AskTheAD Bovee says that we get a return game from Denver next season and that three D1 schools were offered guaranteed games to play in Ogden but no agreements could be reached. Also says we have to play at home, which from a fan's perspective I disagree with. I would rather they play on the road than against non-D1. I have zero interest in attending those games, much less paying to attend them.

So looking ahead to 2016-17, should have games @ USU and @ BYU, and home games vs UVU and Denver.

Good start for the 2016-17 season. I really liked hearing that the AD is trying to help improve the schedule. He has used his contacts with other ADs to try and establish games and also, it is nice hearing that they are trying to guarantee some games. The price must not have been right for some teams. Nice facility to play in, fairly easy to get to, and nice places to stay while you are here. Weird the Cats can't get better games at home.

Ron A. always wanted to play two, big time, money games on the road each year. His attitude was that we wanted to go to their house, kick their butts, take their money and come home with a smile on our face. It didn't always work that way, but it did work often enough that it became harder to get those games. Teams didn't like to get embarrassed on their home floor. I say get those games and build a team that can win in those situations. It may be the only road that will get us to where we want to be. I can take one home, patsy team on our schedule each year, but not two or three. It simply does not help us to get better, and it's a waste of money. I would rather spend the money on full cost of enrollment grants than give it to St Mary's School of Cosmetology. :coffee:

I think that I am going to need a vacation from retirement by the third week of November.

Hmmm.... Where is the weather good at that time of year? Where are there interesting things to see and do? Where are there warm water beaches?

It sure as heck isn't going to be Mexico.

Can anyone help me out with ideas?

Florida in November? Hmmm...that would be a very nice trip. Thinking about it?

Weber vs. Central Michigan in the first round is a great match-up. I like this game. I love knowing we can possibly play Drake in the second round. A team that constantly big times the Big Sky and the Cats.

SO after watching the Utah/BYU game last night they flashed Utahs up coming schedule and I gotta say it makes no sense to not play weber or USU..

12/05/15 vs. IPFW Salt Lake City (Huntsman Center) 12:00 p.m. MT
12/12/15 at Wichita State TV Wichita, Kan. (Intrust Bank Arena) 2:30 p.m. CT
12/16/15 vs. Savannah State Salt Lake City (Huntsman Center) 6:00 p.m. MT
12/19/15 vs. Duke TV New York, N.Y. (Madison Square Garden) 12:00 p.m. ET
12/22/15 vs. Delaware State TV Salt Lake City (Huntsman Center) 7:00 p.m. MT
12/28/15 vs. College of Idaho TV Salt Lake City (Huntsman Center) 7:00 p.m. MT

If anything it costs less to play us.. and both schools would at least give them some of a game..

I mean they are flying in Delaware State for heavens sake. Just costs in plane tickets and hotel would pay for either school

Weber and Utah State, from what I've heard want arrangements where the Utes have to travel to Ogden and Logan. If not, they want a deal where the Utes have to pay a lot more than what they are willing to pay. Instead of 50K, then 100K for a guarantee. Utah can get these teams cheaper and it will give LK's team a nice handful of easy wins. Of course the NCAA will reward the utes for their crap schedule. I hope they take one on the chin against Wichita State.

I think because of their stance, it has caused LK to get his panties in a twist. I can't believe LK admitted to wearing panties last night. I wonder, do his players call him T-Back Krystowiack!!

So why is it that U of Idaho (Big Sky) can host Washington St (Pac 12) this weekend yet Weber plays mostly hot smelly garbage at home. Why can't Weber host Wayne Tinkle and Oregon St? or hell I would even be happy to see Wyoming, Colorado St, Air Force, or any other MTN West team in the DEE. Instead we get 3 powers from the Pacific Coast Church league. :wall: Talk about frustrating. :wall: :wall:

someone on here recently was saying they saw the home schedule and stopped buying season tkts because they no longer saw the point.

what is the valid reason for the below questions regarding our "equals"?

a. they wont play us at all.
b. they wont come to ogden under any circumstance?
c. we rarely see a home and home with anyone
d. we have never seen a home and home with a bigger school
e. we never do a 2 for 1 with anyone ever
f. y didnt we do our annual guarantee game at a big school this yr? i dont really care for it but we usually have one.

:ohno:
