2015 Recruits

I am not sure this makes me feel really good for next season. We already are overcommitted by 2 players. This tells me that we may see more than two departures from this years team. There is usually a reason guys aren't picked by the late signing period. Once in a while you hit the jackpot. But most of the time the guys you sign in the late signing period are your plan B,C or D. Maybe Randy saw how well the late signing of Ian Fox worked out for Idaho State that he wants in on that action. Or maybe he realizes that it is time to stop trying to fit square pegs into round holes. Regardless, neither of these guys are capable of contributing next season.

It's very quiet around here and not a lot of chatter about basketball. The losses seem to have a negative impact on morale...... Lots of questions even about next season. People are aware that Weber has more players next year than scholarships. Going to be interesting to say who stays and who goes.

Tough season, tired of hearing how young the team is this year. No one seems to want to talk about how we got a senior class with one player! Hope the coaches aren't out looking for more JC's!

Very quite indeed. My main complaint is that this team has no passion. No one getting technicals, no one enforcing the paint, no one diving on the floor and getting scraped up. As Jerry Sloan used to say "we are playing basketball with tuxedos on". We cannot rely on freshman to do this and I don't know who else will step up next year. Certainly not Hill or Bolomboy. Just not in their DNA.

There was a play in the second half of the UNCO game, when we were still in it, where one of our bigs, whom I won't name, stood flat footed while one of their bigs drove in for an uncontested layup. One step and our guy could have taken a charge, but didn't. Our guy could have jumped in an effort to block the layup, but didn't. Our guy just stood there with his arms to his side and started running down the floor to the offensive end. That was sooo like our D and sooo distasteful to me, that I had to log out of the streaming and stop watching that crap. It frustrates me to no end. I simply can't believe that a Weber State player, let alone half the team, could lack that much heart. It's hard for me to get excited for the rest of this season when half our team doesn't seem to give a crap. I could understand this kind of behavior if the player had 4 fouls, or if they were too far from the play to do anything, but neither of those things were true. I will keep going to our home games and supporting the program, but I will be shocked if our coaches allow this behavior to continue into next year. I wouldn't let it continue into the next game or the next practice, for that matter.

My feeling is, when the dust settles on the season, player evaluations will happen, and a few hard decisions will need to be made. We have some players who are probably not D1 players right now. Do they have the potential to be there next year? Not sure. Our coaches will have to make that call. I don't like the constant turnover of players, but some of these guys belong in D11 or D111. :twocents:

Trust Randy to make the right decisions. I'm sure he's seeing the same thing we are and I know he hates to lose.
We have our top rated recruits for 2014 coming off of their redshirt season. Jefferson and Braxton will help! Both have been looking great in practice.

We'll get tougher, but turnover is needed. Tough season, but don't want to hear about being young! We're not young. We're just soft!

To be honest...I have no clue what is going to happen this Spring. Would I be surprised if coach signs a player or two; not really. Would I be surprised if coach gets a transfer; no. Would I be surprised if nothing happens? No... I really don't know what to expect. I found the article on Armani Collins by happenstance. It is an article from last month, which would indicate that Collins is still on Weber's radar. He is a 20, 6rpg, and 4 guy. Seems like a decent SG type athlete. Also, the Thomas kid is a tough and large kid. He is 6-8 225...

All I know is that our team is soft. They play terrible defense and there really isn't any leadership. Guys who are athletes but aren't really basketball players. Also, guys who don't really do those extra things.

"Armani is a prototypical DI Shooting Guard" said Universities coach.

I watched a highlight film. He is long and athletic and can really shoot. I think Collins would be a great addition to the Wildcat program. I know he would actually look like a SG unllike some of the players on the team now. Isn't Rahe always talking about how he wants a bigger wing player? Isn't this the type of kid he is looking for?

Coach stated recently: "We are kind of a soft basketball team right now...we're not very tough physically & mentally...we kind of reverted a little bit with our youth...we're 21 games in, we shouldn't not have confidence, we shouldn't not play tougher than that, so it's disappointing." Coach Rahe? NO, Coach Morrill after Aggies last game. Can only hope that Coach Rahe has the same vibes! :wall:

I have no idea what will happen the rest of this season or after the season. I have a feeling that, due to the performance of this team, there will certainly be some turnover in the program. It has been said already that there will be some hard choices to make. That sounds like a reasonable assumption to me.

On the plus side of this is that whomever returns next year should be hardened by what has happened this year. We should be tougher; both mentally and physically. With the addition of Braxton, we should be bigger and stronger on the front line and a better rebounding team. The addition of Jefferson makes us a little more athletic on the guard line. Richardson, with more maturity, should add to our confidence. At least one of our incoming freshmen may have to play. I'm not really sure who that might be. It may have a lot to do with any turnover that happens this spring and who comes in the most ready to contribute. However, I don't expect any of the incoming guys to be starters and they probably wouldn't get significant minutes.

We need to get tougher with those we already have, minus a few. :coffee:

Rahe has mentioned on numerous occasions that this team needs to be tougher. And he has placed the blame for the lack of toughness squarely on the coaches, that it is their job of make the kids tougher.
Weber finishes with 5 out of 7 at home. Hopefully they can finish strong and have some momentum going into the conference tourney.
EWU beat Montana in Montana without Harvey - out with a bruised quad. Wow.

Lets hope that his mission treats him as well as Cannon's did. It looks like Cannon came back fired up and ready to go. That was really great to see. Hopefully he will be living in some high altitude place where all the places you need to go are up hill and far away.
