2015 recruits

I don't think that Eastern's Harvey had any offers. He was a walk-on at EWU. I think that the stats speak louder than a semi accurate count of offers. :twocents:

Like any of us have a clue as to what's going on and who would or wouldn't be a good DI player. Ha! Tal and his analysis!

We all know we need change. We all have an idea who will be leaving the team. Why is there any shock to the changing recruiting discussion? I like Cody John he seems better than two or three current guys. And the Baker kid seems like the stable basketball type so desperately needed by our team right now. Why not? We know we need a different approach to succeed next season.

Dont disagree, but don't want to hear that we are struggling next year because we are young and everyone needs time to learn the program. Some turnover is healthy..... too much turnover means that we are desperate and don't have a strategy.

Programs have to be careful to not fall in love with new players every recruiting cycle. You also have to scrutinize the players available late in the recruiting cycle. Theres usually a reason they haven't committed by now with all these offers available.

I have taken a lot of heat, in the past, for voicing support for players who have left our program. Players like Brown and Fuller have had my admiration and support. As a fan, I see their skills and potential. As a person, I see their great value as young men in our community. I come to like who they are, not just what they can do on the court. That is why it is so hard for me, and many of you, to deal with the inevitable turnover that happens in D1 basketball. I have come to like all of the guys on our team and will be sad to see any of them go. Intellectually, I understand all of it. Emotionally, I struggle with it. I know that the coaches do as well. My financial well being does not ride on the shoulders of our players, unlike the coaches. I just want to see all of the guys happy and productive. :coffee:

I think in our case we will see at least one recruit sign once the season is over. We could know who won't be back very soon. If you always bring in new guys each season, you get to use the young and inexperienced excuse to cover your deficiencies in player development and coaching.

Realize that this is part of the business, but there's one Senior this year because of all the players that left from this class. I'm not going to agree with Olds that Fuller could've helped us. He just didn't have the talent, but I do feel it's important for Rahe to do a better job having the players ready to go by the start of the season.

Weber is at an interesting crossroads. The program has a lot of positives, but a losing season is not something that was expected at the start of this campaign. I don't know if Rahe is already blowing off next season and telling Bovee that we will be good in another year or he's so disgusted with this year that he's thinking he better infuse some talent into the program. It's been an unusual season and although I hope tonight isn't the end, but it's amazing to me that we've been dominant at two different times in this season and lost both games. The first half of the Utah State and EWU game, I felt we were awesome. What happened in the second half might be more coaching that players.

Dusty Baker was named the California State JC Tournament MVP. That's quite an honor. I hope it's true that he will be a wildcat next year. :thumb: :thumb:

I haven't seen anything cemented in yet.

I'm going to say that we will see a number of interesting changes this off season.

I didn't realize Baker was a return missionary, & gray shirted his 1st year at Saddleback just like Bamforth did @ W Nebraska. This kid is mature, we need him ASAP. His bro played at SUU.

   Agreed 100%.

DUSTY BECOME A WILDCAT!!! We desperately need you in Ogden.

You can watch the replay of Dusty's game on Friday night. He just does the little things. Dives on the floor, plays good defense, is a good rebounding guard, and can hit clutch shots. Best thing...he would have 3 years!

He gray shirted his first year at Saddleback, and just got back this last spring. Pretty phenomenal year he had right after coming home from a mission.

I hear that Cody John was on Campus last night! Seems like Coach Rahe focused on improving our talent!
This kids has skills and can score!
Yes, we'll be young, but good!

Fact: Young.
Speculation: Good.

It's looking like another year of seeing what a new group of talent can do as Wildcats and what Rahe and Co. can do with said talent.

Spring signing period begins tomorrow.

Decisions on transferring can go up to July 1st. I think that it is fair to say that at least one more transfer will be leaving WSU, that has not yet been known. It may well be known within the team, but is not yet known to the public.

I have not heard a thing about where Golden or Coston may have landed. :wtf:

I'm not confident that their highly sought after recruits, but both should land before July.
I would bet on us losing two more players. I'm not sure which one, but fairly confident that two is the number.

Coaches are out on the recruiting trails....... I gather from the silence on Golden and Costen that we won't see announcements, just new players on the roster. Interesting approach, but I'm sure there's a good reason.

2015 recruits show up in June. We have to be at the allowed scholarship number by then.

True......... But can't have more than 13 players on scholarship when they show up for summer school in June.

That is probably why we never see the next years roster until fall quarter.

I only see one more transfer besides the walkon's that we already knew about. :coffee:

1 more transfer won't be enough. Not doubting you, but it would still leave 14 players. Is one of the current players going to use some other type of financial assistance and be a walkon next year? If so, who will it be?

I'm no math major, but below is the players with scholarships for the 2015-2016 season:
1) Bolomboy..Senior
2) Senglin... Jr.
3) Braxton RSF
4) Gittens... Junior
5) Hill..... RSJR.
6) Richardson... Soph
7) Hunter... Soph
8) Van Pelt... RS SOPH
9) Jefferson.... RSF
10) Court...... going on mission
11) Johns.... Freshman
12) Dallas.... Freshman
13) Williams.... Freshman
14) Nzkwesi.... Freshman
15) Baker.... Transfer Soph
16) Cannon...... returning from mission

We have 15 (16 but one leaving and one returning from mission) players with scholarships... The legal limit is 13..... what am I missing? Looks like we are two scholarship players over the limit.
