Well...according to Verbal Commits Emmanuel Nzekwesi has committed to the Orals of Roberts. Either Randy released him or the Orals committed a major NCAA violation. Either way, this is a major loss for the Cats. He held 18 scholarships and was probably our top recruit from the class of 2014. Oh well, he seems like a high character kid who would have been a major plus for our program. I wish him good luck in his future endeavors and that he has an excellent career for the Orals.
Weber has an open scholarship. Who do the Cats go after? We definitely need a big who will be able to play immediately. Randy needs a center too.

Total bummer. Good luck to him playing for the Orals. I only wish him the best. I'm proud of the way we handled this issue and I'm hopeful that Emmanuel gets a chance to play DI ball.
Moving on...
So, this means we have an open spot for 2016-17 (the way things are going, I'm guessing we might end up with 1 or possibly 2 more open spots; I hope not, but...). What would be the best option for the Cats. To me there are two ways of approaching this situation.
A. Try to find the best possible JC/transfer big available and put all of our recruiting efforts into getting him to Ogden.
B. Find a good 6/8 - 6/10 guy who has potential and can be developed. Go the high school route. Of course, try to find the best player available. I personally feel we got the best on our list when Tim Fuller signed, but he won't be here for an additional two years after he graduates. We need someone before then.
Personally, I'm an advocate for option A., and here is why. Bolomboy is a double-double machine. I don't know the stats, but I am pretty sure he is the programs all-time leader. He will be the programs top rebounder by the end of the season, a guy with 1200+ points, and the guy already owns the distinction of being the best blocker in the history of Weber State Basketball. He probably is the dunk king too, Sir Velo do you have stats on that? :thumb: Right now he is one of our teams top producers, defenders, and game changers. We are losing him at the end of the season, hopefully, to the NBA. Issue is we don't have anyone on the team who can do what he does. To stay where we are, we will need somebody who can step in right away and produce. We need a rebounder and a big that is good for 12-14 a game. Yes, Kyndahl will still be here and the program will have Braxton, Dallas, and Kiko. Maybe we can get the same production by committee and go with option B. I'm just not convinced right now that can be done. I've heard great things about Dallas and we know that Kiko will improve, but what is his ceiling and how much potential does he have? Can he give the Cats more going forward? Hill...well, we will get what we get from Hill. I'm always hopeful. I think Braxton's ceiling is huge.
