2016 Recruiting: 19 Verbals (Known) *Updated 2/2*

As it relates to defensive athletes, I'd argue we didn't have D1 quality safeties with the exception of Raynes. Too small, not fast enough. Also, our DTs have size, but no footwork... And it shows as they never get pressure. I'd also note our DEs this year were pretty bad. Williams will get better, but the very fact we had to play him as much as we did shows our lack of serviceable talent at the position. This is probably the first defense since Baldwin's first year where I didn't think we at least had decent talent. We had mediocre FCS talent at best.

I think some of you may not have caught on to Obzerver's sense of humor yet. :notworthy:

He is certainly tongue in cheek. Still too many people seem to think we are getting the short end of the stick in athletes without any comparative analysis. Still love watching that guy run all wonky and then launch sideways... hilarious.

This.

Talent is a pretty damned subjective thing. We used to hear every year how PSU had loads of talent. That could have been correct but it certainly didn't translate.

I think it was you, Dopa who mentioned earlier that losing Shaq probably hurt us more than anyone realized. Couple that with not having a RB who was a real break away threat and we appeared to lack explosiveness.

You make another good point with the DE's. There were several times on mis-directions and QB roll outs where either no one stayed home or we were simply out-run.

So, Willy Pflug anyone? I bet he is wishing he chose EWU over UM.

His presidential bid may be in trouble.

Yikes! I thought he was supposed to be the heir apparent?

Interesting to see if EWU will give him (Pflug) a shot. He would have a huge chip on his shoulder to beat the Griz but would certainly have to compete with Hennesy for the future QB at EWU. I wouldn't be surprised if EWU isn't looking for a drop down FBS QB and OL also trying to improve that side of the ball as much as possible with Coop and Shaq coming back. Add in Kendrick and The Eags have the best WR corp in FCS hands down.

Pflug is nowhere near the talent of Hennessy.

Are these early offers really even relevant? Until he actually signs, years from now, the offer can be retracted.

I think it's very interesting that a school like Eastern is doing this when it is so out of character for them. They must be incredibly high on him. Obviously it's very far out and who knows what happens but you don't see many FCS programs do something like this ever.

I haven't really seen him ... but I agree!

Hmmm, if you haven't really seen him how can you agree or disagree?

clawman,
Saw on ESPN where Prokup (sp) Mont/MS Quarterback is transferring to Oregon and not Alabama. Seems like the Oregon Coach isn't capable of going out and doing his own recruiting, he must go and screw some other Team Chemistry. I saw the scrolling on the bottom of ESPN Screen. Maybe see you at Thursday Game, I think we are playing Morehead State. Women won their 3 straight this evening, they defeated Wh/ State. See you on Thursday should you nd the wife come to the game. Vic Wallace

Hi Vic;
It seems like the Oregon coaches are not able to identify talent out of high school so must use the Big Sky as their training ground. Prukop was leaving anyway just a matter of where he went to. If it were my son I certainly would have rather seen him play for Sabin than Helfrich.
I'm going to try to make it out Thursday so we'll see you and Chrissy there.

If he is not talented enough to play QB at Montana, he is not talented enough to play QB at Eastern.

Chemistry is poor enough on this team, can't imagine going to get a disgruntled non-starter and adding that to the mix... OK to sign another frosh QB, let's not add to the drama that already exists.

Looks like Malik is taking visits to CSU; likely a fighting Bobo. He has ten other offers per Scout.
