...BSCfan.....here's my short commercial on Pocatello and SE Idaho....nationally known for hunting, fishing, skiing ...all close by....Pocatello is 3 hours from Yellowstone National Park, Jackson Hole, Boise, Salt Lake City, Sun Valley,....ISU has nationally ranked College of Business, Pharmacy and Nursing Programs and not far behind are Colleges of Education and Liberal Arts....if he is talented enough the NFL can find him here....Evan Dietrich Smith at Tampa Bay currently and Josh Hill at New Orleans...recently Jared Allen with Minnesota Vikings and MANY others.......NFL coaches Marvin Lewis and Dirk Koetter are ISU alums...contact Coach Phenicie and his staff....they are always looking for athletes that will make ISU better....If he's suppose to become "a Bengal" lets get "that train moving"....good luck....

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you so much!

....truly ISU has a lot to offer....

Such as?

I'm completely serious in asking. After next season my son will be looking to transfer to a 4-year university from JUCO ball. I'm trying to encourage him to look at schools at ALL levels of college football and not just FBS. What can I point out to him as a selling point or two about ISU? Thanks!

Like you, I live in the state of Washington also. My son currently plays for ISU. So here would be my selling points. it’s a safe city!!! Where we live in Washington it is a crime riddled city that has a terrible gang violence problem. So I love the fact that my son is in a safe city that doesn’t have gang activity. I think Pocatello is a good college town. It’s way better than Pullman, Moscow or Cheney. College football players don’t have much spending money anyway so what does it matter if you attend college in a big city like Seattle, Portland or even Spokane etc etc because the athlete doesn’t have money to go to fine restaurants or theater shows or concerts or museums and fancy things like that. pocatello has everything and then some that any college kid would need. I went to college at Oklahoma State University and Pocatello is 500 times better than Stillwater Oklahoma as far as a college city. Pocatello is close enough to Washington for a days drive so u can go to some games and your son can come home at appropriate times but it’s also just far enough away that your son can be on his own (like he already is in Cali) and experience life & not come home every weekend etc etc. good luck to your son and your family

...thanks demian for your perspective from a parent.....it gives someone like BSCfan a view that I hadn't thought of....NOW lets get some folks "signed up" tomorrow that will help us keep improving...I have faith in Coach Phenicie and his staff....they will find some folks we will be very pleased with....BSCfan...have your son contact Coach Phen and keep us "in the mix"......

Hey your welcome clawsout. I really like Pocatello when I come to visit. There is a girl from the high school I coach at here in Washington who also just signed a letter of intent to ISU to run the sprints and relays for the track team. Her mother went with her for the official visit to ISU in October and loved ISU campus and the city of Pocatello for a lot of the very same reasons I listed. Maybe BSCfan and his son should try to set up a visit to ISU campus sometime this offseason to see if the campus, the city, the football staff, facilities, the school etc etc are appealing in person

Next June during college camp season I was hoping to bring him down to Utah's specialists camp again, he had a REALLY good showing there last year, finishing second to the eventual Lou Groza Award winner. I was thinking while we were there, it's not a far drive to Pocatello and he could/should make a trip up and check it out. And perhaps he'd get to boot as few for the coaches while there. I'm just try to get him to cast the biggest net he can as far as looking for a place to play after College of the Siskiyous.

I have lived in random places over the US and I love coming back to pocatello!
We also have fun Water places to place at, reservoirs and rivers for rafting, Hiking and camping are all over too.
But we do have a sweet outdoor concert venue, rodeo's and places to play for college kids too.

Maybe most important, the education is quality at ISU, especially for athletes.

This is awesome! One of the things I never understood about Kramer is when he'd talk about recruiting and say if he found out another Big Sky school was also recruiting the same athlete, he'd walk away. I don't know if he was BSing or not, but it just didn't make a lot of sense.

Yes it is awesome to see us win some head to head recruiting battles with the two teams in conference in our immediate proximity (Idaho and Weber)

This staff has really elevated the level of recruit we are going after and in some cases getting. It has been a long time since we have really gone head to head on recruits that other Big Sky teams were offering also. With what appears to be a real off-season program going now, we will have a chance to develop these players even more once they are on campus. You never know how a class really is until a few years in the program, but this group certainly appears to be a step above what we had previously been signing.

Both threads were discussing recruiting and not everyone reads though every thread. Just trying to engage in some conversation about recruiting.
