2019 Offers and Commitments

Seems like the coaches want to bring in some older guys in the secondary. The unit will have to be rebuilt almost completely.

We need more DBs, but it isn't just about the numbers. It's about quality and depth of quality. Lets face it, there will be a lot of footballs in the air in the BSC next fall. We've proven our ability to shut the run games down. We need to start shutting passing games down.

This is shaping up to be a pretty good signing class.

Our recruiting classes have been great for several years now, and they just seem to get better every year. Our team speed has seen a significant improvement.

Really loving this recruiting class. Under Jay, it just keeps getting better and better. To me, it is really smart that the Cats wait out the December period, only getting the players who can make immediate impacts, for the February signing period. A lot of really talented guys are overlooked in December making them available later on. I'm sure we will see two or three more guys like McMillan. Exciting time to be a Wildcat.

If we are at the point of signing PWO players, that is an indication that we have filled all of our grant openings. We have had a few gems so far and I expect to see more on signing day. Our biggest needs were on defense and we seem to have addressed that with a combination of transfers and freshmen. Last years recruiting class will figure into this as well.

From all appearances, we should hit the ground running again next year. IMHO, our O is going to show the most improvement, simply from getting almost everyone back and having strong depth at most all positions. On D, we have a bit of a rebuild to do, but we did have depth at some positions. I expect us to get better as the spring, summer, and season progresses. I see no reason that we won't vie for another BSC championship. I have total faith in our coaching staff.

Spring ball is not that far off and all of the guys are getting their conditioning in. Winning seasons are created in the winter, spring and summer. GO WILDCATS

This is turning out to be an unusual year in FB recruiting for the State of Utah. There seems to be a lot more quality players than there are scholarships available. It's not just at Weber that we are seeing a high number of PWO commitments. I suspect that many of these kids will end up on a grant in the coming years. Many of these kids would have been signing to a scholarship in years past. It also speaks to the quality of players we are signing to grants. Our future looks quite bright.

I don't think it is all that different than previous years. We just hear about the PWOs more because athletes post them on line. Weber has always had several walk-ons who have made an impact.
