Defensive end is a unique position on the DL. It's all about speed and strength. The strength to hold your ground in the run defense and the speed to rush the passer. Defensive ends are often a lot lighter than defensive tackles. In our defense, the DEs sometimes drop back into pass coverage and that takes some quickness. This kid is not too light to play DE and he looks quite strong and athletic to me.WSUWildcat said:I just report on what I see, but there are tons of visits without offers, especially unofficial visits.oldrunner said:Highly unlikely that there would be a visit without an offer. That is particularly true of a visit at a game like we just had, and true for about any JC recruit. I think it might be that some, large groups of HS recruits, come on campus without all of them having a solid offer of a scholarship. I feel confident that Okiki has an offer.WSUWildcat said:oldrunner said:6'6'' JUCO DE

I see a visit, but no evidence of an offer.
Okiki changed his twitter status to indicate he is a DE from Weber State, but still no mention of an offer or a commitment. Maybe he is a mid year transfer?
He looks like he is very quick off the line, but at 6'6" and 215 lbs, this young man will need to put on some pounds and hit the weight room if he wants to play DE at this level.
Yes DE is usually lighter than DT. But the lightest DE on the team right now is 230 lbs with most in the 250 - 270 range. Hopefully Okiki has an appetite for the training table and the weight room.
