2020 Offers and Commitments

The QB spot is definitely lacking. The bar is so low that it was considered a success if Constantine just didn’t make any mistake passes. Imagine what this team could have done with a Cantwell...I can’t imagine what it would be like with a Martin. If Weber State had the defense it does now with Martin...definite championships would have occurred.

Of course Schramm would waste a Martin type QB. I’m just impressed that he finally dialed up some passing to try and help open up the run game vs JMU. Of course it was past due, but it beat the Maine game when after the first drive, he kept trying to run into a stacked box repeatedly. I think the two straight wildcat plays basically showed how bad his play calling is. EWU just passed against the stacked box until Maine went away from it, and then they ran all over them.

If Weber State is to win a national championship, they need a better QB and a better OC. They need a leader type player like Cantwell who can create and they need an OC who will call plays on how the defense is playing them not just hoping they can execute past numbers. The scheme will have to be better: more play action and misdirection.

Doubt we see any competition at the QB spot, and I don’t think anyone is calling up Schramm to have him head coach or OC at a FBS program...so it will probably be back for next year, which is sad because I think if they make those moves, they could win a championship.

Wildcat football has come a long way from the 2-10 years, but a program should do anything it needs to do to improve itself whether they are 0-12 or a National Champion.

The scheme will have to be better: more play action and misdirection.

As well as effective screens and TE play always in the mix. Many of the screens attempted this past season were disasters and Malone wasn't used enough or in the right way keep defenses honest. I'm really not sure if I think Jake is much better than given credit for with a good OC and scheme but it's still a bad recipe with a bad OC and questionable QB. It's a up-hill battle if they cant keep the defense off the field.

Looks very athletic in his highlight film. Reminds me a little of George Tarlas.

Only other offer is from Dixie St. I wonder if this is a full offer, or a PWO. Unless Hagen has told Weber he's not signing here, I wouldn't think Weber would be offering another lightly recruited QB. Not when this should be a rather small class.

I am guessing it is a PWO. We seem to do a PWO offer to a QB fairly regularly. Get the kid an academic scholarship and see if he pans out.

Judging by what I am seeing out in the twittersphere, It certainly looks like our coaches are out overturning every rock and peering behind every tree in the western US, looking for diamonds and gold. It also looks as though they are finding just what they are looking for. A lot of O Line prospects, WRs, LBs, DLs, and TEs. Just as interesting is what we are not seeing, DBs and RBs. We must be confident in what we have returning at those positions. :notworthy: :notworthy:

I have heard about the returning missionary QB. Does anyone know who the other RMs are and their positions?
