2020 RECRUITING

BHF, thanks for keeping this thread updated over the last few months. Myself and others are no doubt truly appreciative of that.

Here is the Hornetsports link that has all the tweets and stats posted:

I like the class that was brought in. Heavy on the defensive side which is the immediate need going forward. Looks like there is loads of size and talent in the group. Should be interesting to watch as things move forward with this program.

I appreciate the call out. But I was happy to share the info. I usually follow the HS game fairly closely, so I enjoy the recruiting aspect of it too. Expect me to do more of the same going forward. In many years past it was difficult to confirm interest one way or the other, but social media has all but taken that hurdle away.

Count me in liking this class so far too. There might be a few more added between now and Feb 5th too. Taylor and Fresques recently had a home visit with dual threat QB Parker Navarro from Desert Vista HS in Arizona, and I notice he hasn’t announced a commitment/signing as yet. He’s got an offer from Hawaii and a PWO from Arizona State, among others. Might still be a possibility. IDK.

I would have liked to have seen a couple good sized defensive lineman, but other than that it looks pretty darn solid.

I’m still surprised RB Cameron Skattebo didn’t receive more interest from larger programs. IDK his 40 time, but he looks fast enough and has incredible balance, vision and plays with a physical edge. Might be only 5’9 or 5’10 but he’s solidly in the 190-200 pound range. Kids is tough to tackle.

Still making offers, wide out Nick Wyatt from
Paraclete High School

Most disappointing thing for this class (all schools) is kids not knowing the names of the schools they’re committing to!

“University of Sacramento State”

“University of Louisiana State University”

So true, they will learn it time though and love this coaching staff and school, then pass the word on.

Sac offered 3 star QB Yaro Duvalko of Vancouver, WA on Sunday. He decommitted from Utah State and visited UNLV last weekend.

Looks like we may be getting a kicker, Joshua Baron. Baron recently attended the 2019 Western Winter Showcase. He is an excellent field goal kicker with D1 scholarship level talent. He has improved his leg strength and charted well on both field goals and kickoffs at the event. Baron had a strong showing at the 2019 Western Spring Showcase Camp. He was the winner of the kickoff competition and hit some consistent field goals throughout the day. His leg strength was good and increasing the lift on the ball and controlling his hips through contact will help him continue to climb the rankings.

This recruiting editor says 100% Yaro is coming to Sac State.

Looks like we offered full ride to Yaro. To get a really good QB that is a good strategy, I like building a strong QB pipeline, it is critical to the success of the program.

I think Yaro Duvalko ends up at UNLV.

Apparently he was very wow'd by their facilities and the new stadium they'll play in, along with the Raiders.

Don't forget about that HUGE factor. I'd expect to see UNLV start nabbing some really nice recruits over the next few years. What kid wouldn't be wow'd by a near 2 Billion dollar stadium????

What other college team has the advantage of playing home games in a stadium like that? The U of Miami shares with the Dolphins at the newly renovated Hard Rock Stadium. And I believe some of the Texas schools play at Jerry Jones Stadium from time to time, but not all their home games.

It should be a pretty nice recruiting advantage for UNLV. And they've got a new HC from our local area here.

I already read the article before and disagree with you, he had a visit with the Hornets on January 31st, after UNLV, being able to be groomed my an ex NFL QB in Troy Taylor and probably at better route for him to start playing then UNLV, where they already have other good quarterbacks in front of him. Also, right after the visit at Sac State, two experts are predicting 100% that he comes here, hmm, maybe one of them had a chat with him. anything could change, but my gut goes with the two experts in this field who predicted it.

Brandon Huffman is a National Recruiting Editor and pick percentage correct is 96%, and the other person is a Utah State insider where Yaro had originally committed to, these guys know something. They both made these predictions on February 1st, right after his visit here.

There’s no real heir apparent to Thomson’s throne, this makes perfect sense - and might be the guy Taylor wants to have with him as they solidify the Hornets as a perennial power?

My thoughts exactly, I’m sure coach Taylor sold him on this as well. Go to UNLV and have no idea where you are in the pecking order or know you have a legit shot to be the man in a high powered offense to showcase your skills, no brainer. And remember, Thompson gets hurt sometimes.

And Dunniway will be a JR. in 2020, available to spot start if needed, but pretty much everyone agrees we need a long term QB in the program...

I’m just super excited to see coach Taylor possibly have a very good talent to groom for years to come ,watch Thompson for a year, then hopefully he will be ready. I have watched coach Taylor for many years what he can do with qb’s, Dano Graves & Jake Browning, we are very lucky to have coach Taylor and the staff he put together, enjoy while we can.

When will he actually sign something binding? Is it basically open anytime to sign now?
This Wednesday is signing day, so obviously anything could happen between now and then. His Twitter account has been quite so far. Probably many other teams trying to sign him as well, including Cal Poly.
