We finally have a few kids committing to Sac State for the 2022 season. Both are two star recruits from 247sports

Alex Rocha Linebacker from Bakersfield High School

Riley Hernandez Linebacker from Liberty High School

Zeke Burnett, RB, Elk Grove Burnett committed to Sacramento State this week. He picked the Hornets over Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada and UNLV, among others. The 5-foot-11, 190 pound senior started his prep career at Capital Christian before transferring to Elk Grove during his junior season. Burnett didn’t play during the spring due to injury, but in six games this fall, Burnett leads Elk Grove in rushing with 626 yards and 12 touchdowns.

There were a ton of recruits at the homecoming game to witness the NAU beat down, which is good. Only having 9k there because of Covid protocols, instead of 12-13k, not good.

There was more like 4K. Not sure if it was weather or COVID protocols or both but tailgate was dead and there were way less fans than the Northern Iowa game. Not sure where they got the reported attendance numbers.

Sad that attendance was so low. Although I really can't complain since I didn't go.

Hopefully the recruits care more about the program's recent success and future outlook than they do about attendance.

Players like to win and compete for championships!

If this team wins another share of the Big Sky or wins the conference outright, that's surely gotta help recruiting more than attendance w/o the on-field success, right?

From what little I saw of the stands on the Channel 31 broadcast, it seemed like the visiting stands were rather paltry, but I never really got to see the home stands. I figure the potential weather (that I don't think really panned out) associated with the atmospheric river scared some away, but I'm also dead certain that the bogus COVID protocols whose implementation was severely botched scared more off.

That said, thank you to Sac_hornets for keeping us up to date on successful recruiting. It will be good to see these guys next year.

I know I bought 4 tix and didn’t go…

Zeke Burnett is a stud feature back in waiting. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Zeke, Fulch, And Skat monster next year!

Yep, that was the smallest homecoming crowd I can ever recall. Too bad. Such an exciting team to watch and cheer for.

Don't expect the crowds to get much bigger for the last two home games.

Hope to be wrong, but do not see 10,000 showing up for Cal Poly and Portland State.
No need to have the vaccination check points any longer. Put that time and energy into marketing the team and getting the students and community out

Sac State lands another local kid, Lamont Johnson-Burrell CB from Sacramento High!

Another local commits, Elias Mullican from a Rocklin High. Was the MVP of SFL

They are actively whining at aggiesportstalk.com about some of recent signings, and why they would choose Sac over Davis.

I chose Sac over Davis (I got into both), and have tried to explain it to them. Problem is, they can’t hear too well with their heads that far up their own asses.

This one is very cool to me. I live directly in between Rocklin and Whitney High’s and go to Rocklin’s games often. Mullican had been overshadwoed by fellow WR Nathan Kent, but has stepped out of that shadow in a big way over the course of this season.

He destroyed against Folsom several weeks ago. The kid is listed at 6-1 and 175 and seems to have very good speed. I think he might be flying under the radar a bit because of the short 2020 season.

Rocklin is currently 11-0 and ranked #1 in the Sac-Joaquin Section. They’ve won 15 consecutive games. They’ve got some players. And Mullican is certainly one of them.

I hope he stays committed.

Rocklin’s QB Kenny Lueth would be another nice get if Taylor/Fresques are interested and can manage it. He’s not played for many weeks now due to a leg injury, but he’s 6-5 210 and athletic. He can really sling it and is a threat to run.

Their UCD education isn’t impressing much when they can’t comprehend that (a) a university like SAC ST just might be a better option depending upon field of study and (b) some student-athletes just might be balancing several priorities in making a decision.

I’m sure UCD is a fine university. IDC how renowned it is. I personally wouldn’t choose it over a myriad of other options. Same goes for the prestigious IVY league schools. There are many, many reasons why.

We all make choices for different reasons. The holier than thou superiority complex some have about their school choice is laughable to me. Those people weren’t educated as well as they like to believe.
