2025 Recruiting Thread

If my count is correct there are 20 graduating seniors. 7 of those players transferred over from JC's.

The Hornets inked 10 players during the early signing period. In the past week they've reportedly added "around" 23 new players via the portal and via verbal commitments.

I can't recall how many players they've lost through the portal, but I gotta imagine the open roster spots are becoming limited.

Depends on if Marion is filling a FCS roster or FBS roster. Hmmmm

A commit out of Dallas, Texas now

And I saw that the two kids we picked up from St Louis, their high school coach has also joined the staff as a Senior Offensive Analyst.

The way in which we have attracted recruits and portal transfers and being able to add offensive analysts to the staff which is a total FBS move (budget)… it really feels like some of that NIL money is being offered possibly and/or the coaching staff budget has really ramped up. I can tell you from being involved with the staff at a time that around 2013 a position coach was making $50k and the coordinators were closer to $80k - $90k. We must be far exceeding that now and I wouldn’t be surprised if Marion is now a +$300k/year coach??

The one troubling thing here that no one is talking about… This is getting expensive fast.

The Athletic Department pays for the scholarships. So, obviously in state tuition is less expensive than out of state, and it’s not close. Obviously he has a green light but at the rate we are going we are increasing scholarship spend for next year by at least 50%.

I worry about overextending, but I really don’t have the knowledge to know what we’re working with. You’d know better, but I’m guessing there will be a couple dozen names from our roster that go bye-bye for whatever reason that we don’t see on twitter, etc.

Godspeed to the poster who tries to cross reference that.

I, like many, am holding out hope that the admin’s confidence in a pending move up, is providing the backing for all these decisions, and that everything we’re seeing now will make a bunch more sense when the puzzle pieces come together between now and spring ball.

I was thinking the SAME thing. But I think they are feeling pressure to make a splash “Transformative” if you all remember that like from PAC President.

If they build a fundraising arm with community funds they can pull in those funds creatively to offset some expenses.

It’s been a very long few decades of suffering so I am going to enjoy this growth with appreciation.

Let’s get SAC STATE an FCS National Championship! That would be epic for our program them FBS.

I have been told that news will be public after the New Year.
I read an article as well where the reporter said SAC ST will be FBS in 26.
What I wonder is what is the process, timing and potential for a waiver of 2 yr transition and get it done in 1 year? That would satisfy a lot of issues if that were in process?
I will look for the article again and bring back a hyperlink.

Paragraph 2.

Of all the things to be worried about, government overspending is not one of them. Massive government agencies/institutions always find money somewhere...after all, those increased student fees that take effect in the fall have to be spent on something.

We just lost a commit. Was using this thread until the person actually signs. I will post however the board chooses though.
