#3 Weber State @ #6 Sacramento State

There’s a reason we’re back-to-back Big Sky champs and back-to-back quarterfinalists. Another team looked at our lackluster passing yardage and thought it would be a comfy win.

Wow, I’ll drink a tall glass of shut up juice. The defense made a big statement! I loved the safety. Offense did well and Constantine is improving.

Go Wildcats!

I've been thinking about this game a lot and reading the press, watching some Weber film. They believe they're going to be able to run the ball effectively against us. Pride cometh before the fall!

After watching our D (especially the DL) hold their own against bigger, faster, deeper lineups @Arizona State and @Fresno State, I think Weber might be in for a big surprise. Their passing game does not worry me in the least. If this game were in snowy, cold conditions in Ogden, I think Weber would be the big favorite. But, Andy Thompson has been calling aggressive, smart plays all year long, and I don't expect that to change. If we can sellout and stuff the run on the early downs, Obinna will feast on 3rd and long against this OL, which is so clearly built to bully teams in the run game. Weber won't be able to score enough points to top the Hornets in Sacramento.

The unbelievable, never-thought-possible season turns it up to 11 with another white-hot Hornet victory.

Hornets 41
BBQU 23

Pulled this from the Hornet board. Care to elaborate Kadeezy?

I think that Weber's going to come into the game thinking they can run the ball against the Hornets, as they should with the three-headed monster situation you have in the backfield. Hill would be stupid not to have that game plan.

The defining question of the game will be, can Weber pass the ball with success if the run game is stymied? I don't think they can, and if they try, you'll see a lot of George Obinna lined up LDE and I don't think Xavier Stilson can stay in front of him.

It's going to be an interesting battle of styles, and Sac State has been shocking everyone (including their own fans) this year, why stop now?

"Pride cometh before the fall!"
based on:
"(you) think that Weber's going to come into the game thinking they can run the ball against the Hornets" ?
Brilliant!

I get it; you've rarely if ever been here before. Just a friendly suggestion, keep your excitement grounded in reality or you might find yourself looking like the Democratic House.

In my opinion (and that's all it is; an opinion) Weber has very much been a work in progress and over-ranked all season-- they're not the 3rd best team in the country. They most definitely have continually gotten better as the season's progressed, though. Hill and Co. aren't looking past anyone, least of all @SAC, and no Wildcat would be thinking they could run all over the Hornets. But, you'd be wrong in thinking any player or coach wouldn't believe in there abilities until stopped. Hell, that's why the games are played by the teams, not argued by the fans.

Personally I think Weber HAS looked like the #3 Team in the nation. Give me any team that deserves to be higher than us in the standings or rankings. There are only two who I can think off. And they already are

That's fine, you have your opinion and I have mine. I have to justify my opinion? To answer your question, I don't know who deserves to be ranked what other than #1 and #2 have pretty strong claims for where they are at. As I stated, Weber has continually gotten better as the season's progressed but I still feel they've been over-ranked much of the season.

Having seen South Dakota St. a few times, including vs #1, I question if Weber could beat them. I don't have as much of a feel for Kennesaw St. but they've been in the mix the last several years like Weber. Could Kennesaw be this year's Maine? I don't know but I think there's a good chance anyone 3 through 8-11 could beat anyone any given week.

After tonight's showing I like Weber as a top 5 team. We'll learn more the next two weeks vsUND and @UM. As convincing wins in those two an I'll be a believer they belong at #3 and might even be in the conversation to compete against #1 or #2 if it ends up coming to that. Again, my opinion.

I like the way coach Hill put it; every game from here on out gets bigger. It will be that way until the end. There are no easy games.... Next up.

Dont get butthurt because someone asks you a question. You said Weber has been over-ranked all year so I asked you who deserved to be higher whether by wins or who they've played and you basically replied with "I dunno". If you think Weber has been over-ranked than you obviously think other teams are better. So I ask again.....Who? Other than the two obvious ones.

If SDSU hadn't lost their starting qb I might have given them the nod. But not now. Kennesaw just got butt whipped by Monmouth so nope. Villanova lost again yada yada

Weber just won back to back road games convincingly in games they were considered underdogs in, one against the 6th ranked team in the Nation who butt whalloped the current #8 team.

A lot of people like to dog on our offense, but they are averaging 37.5 points vs FCS competition. There's room for improvement, but that could be the case with any team.

This should freak out remaining teams. Weber isn’t playing its best ball and hasn’t yet. The Cats are getting better each week. Yet, there are still Some issues to clean up and aspects of the game that definitely can be improved upon, but...yikes! That was a heck of a game by the Cats.

Can’t look ahead too much. Gotta take care of business one week at a time. Next...

Sac st fans are very upset which is funny because before the game No one on this blog discredited them for being a good team.... there saying on there blog where not one of the best teams in the FCS and hope the Griz beat us... they need to humble themselves take the L and understand that it’s a any given Saturday may the best team win. Unfortunately we did that...

With Marque Collins out at cornerback, Weber State started three freshmen in Harris, Anderson and Kamden Garrett in the secondary.

That’s from the Standard. I saw some new faces in the secondary last night which just makes the performance that much better. Not to mention Shaheed was out as well.

That was a good old fashioned butt-whoopin. In their house. Lot of salt coming from the Sac fans. We may well see them again in Ogden next month.

Cats are number three in the country and win out. Congrats. You’re the sky’s best hope at a national champion!!! Hoping for games played in terrible conditions because your team is absolutely built for it.

Who's butt hurt? Your only post on this thread comes after the games have been played and you want to argue opinion on rankings? I answered your question: SDSU and possibly Kennesaw. Granted, I wasn't aware Kennesaw lost again so I probably move Weber from #5 to #4 in my mind. There are several considerations I consider but before last night's game Weber had played 4 FCS home games and 2 FCS road games. To me, @UCD and @SAC win are that much more impressive. I have a question, why is my opinion on ranking the only thing you cared about commenting on in this thread?

The offense has had it's struggles but has indeed been improving. More and more the offense is responsible for getting points on the board rather than the defense scoring or putting the offense in a very good scoring position, or field goals which accounts for 6.5 ppg in those FCS games. Including in the improvement, the O-Line seems to be getting a little better with pass protection. Similarly, the ultra-young secondary is getting a little better too.

7 point dog? Really? will be a close game and I think the D is difference. Turnovers will be key as well.
Take Weber to win outright. Our playoff experience helps us here.

0 turnovers to 2
Time of Possession: 36 min to 23 min
Total yards were misleading; as Jay Hill said in post-game, Weber gave up 100 yards with the second team defense.
So, turnovers and D were big factors.
What I did not see coming was a dominating rushing attack. 195 to 84 net yards. Weber controlled the line on both sides of the ball . On offense, Weber was able to have a balanced offense. On defense, Weber put pressure on the QB all game and stopped the rushing game. Give the game ball to the lineman on both sides of the ball.

All this without Rasheed Shaheed and other starters who were injured. Look for Weber to only get better..

That's an impressive performance by such a young group! I don't know that Weber got SACs best effort. If they did, that's an even more impressive win but my guess is a rematch would be a more competitive game. I'm still feeling that vsMaine loss last year. I really think Weber was the better team, they just didn't play like it that night. Funny, since the same could probably be said about @JMU two years ago.

This program is really showing it's great depth this season, and last night was another example of this. Several DBs out for an already young group and three freshman step up and play well. Shaheed is out and Sac St is doubling Cooley all night so MacPherson shows up with a huge game. Three RBs that would all start on any team in the conference. Been without possibly their top OLman all season and that group has come together and started to play really well. The 2s and 3s on the D line would be all-conference if they were starting, and that's not an exaggeration (just look at what Mitton, the Schiess brothers, and Tarlas do with the reps they get). I could go on, but I'm amazed at the players that Hill and staff are recruiting and developing. It's setting up to be a great run for several years to come. They lost a lot off of last year's team and many, including myself, thought they'd take a small step back this season. But this team is proving to be even better. After last night, count me in as a true believer.

Going into this week I was hearing a lot of talk that Thomson was the favorite for Conference Offensive POY. He's having a great season, but should Josh Davis now be considered the favorite? He's averaging a lead leading 137 yards a game rushing in conference games.

I try to post on this site as little as possible. It's not something I like to do much anymore. I replied to yours cause I felt it was worth responding to because I wanted to know why Weber has been over-ranked all year despite being 7-0 against FCS teams including three top 25 wins. Two of those on the road in back to back weeks. You are the one who got defensive with the whole "I have to justify my opinion" BS. Hence the butthurt comment. If something as simple as what I said got you so up in arms...maybe a message board with conflicting opinions isnt the place for you.

Right now Weber is #3 and they deserve no less, because right now no one below them deserves to be higher.

Funny, it's my opinion you don't seem to want me to have. I could care less if you think their ranking at #3 is right, that's exactly what they are ranked. Me thinking it's too high doesn't change anything and I'd rather my opinion be wrong. You don't need to uninvite me from the board, I'm fine having and stating my opinions as I want. If you don't like my BS then ignore it.
