#3 Weber State @ #6 Sacramento State

Going into this week I was hearing a lot of talk that Thomson was the favorite for Conference Offensive POY. He's having a great season, but should Josh Davis now be considered the favorite? He's averaging a lead leading 137 yards a game rushing in conference games.

JD has been an absolute stud, it would be surprising if doesn't get serious consideration.

In my opinion (and that's all it is; an opinion) Weber has very much been a work in progress and over-ranked all season-- they're not the 3rd best team in the country. They most definitely have continually gotten better as the season's progressed, though. Hill and Co. aren't looking past anyone, least of all @SAC, and no Wildcat would be thinking they could run all over the Hornets. But, you'd be wrong in thinking any player or coach wouldn't believe in there abilities until stopped. Hell, that's why the games are played by the teams, not argued by the fans.

Personally I think Weber HAS looked like the #3 Team in the nation. Give me any team that deserves to be higher than us in the standings or rankings. There are only two who I can think off. And they already are

That's fine, you have your opinion and I have mine. I have to justify my opinion? To answer your question, I don't know who deserves to be ranked what other than #1 and #2 have pretty strong claims for where they are at. As I stated, Weber has continually gotten better as the season's progressed but I still feel they've been over-ranked much of the season.

Having seen South Dakota St. a few times, including vs #1, I question if Weber could beat them. I don't have as much of a feel for Kennesaw St. but they've been in the mix the last several years like Weber. Could Kennesaw be this year's Maine? I don't know but I think there's a good chance anyone 3 through 8-11 could beat anyone any given week.

After tonight's showing I like Weber as a top 5 team. We'll learn more the next two weeks vsUND and @UM. As convincing wins in those two an I'll be a believer they belong at #3 and might even be in the conversation to compete against #1 or #2 if it ends up coming to that. Again, my opinion.

Dont get butthurt because someone asks you a question. You said Weber has been over-ranked all year so I asked you who deserved to be higher whether by wins or who they've played and you basically replied with "I dunno". If you think Weber has been over-ranked than you obviously think other teams are better. So I ask again.....Who? Other than the two obvious ones.

If SDSU hadn't lost their starting qb I might have given them the nod. But not now. Kennesaw just got butt whipped by Monmouth so nope. Villanova lost again yada yada

Weber just won back to back road games convincingly in games they were considered underdogs in, one against the 6th ranked team in the Nation who butt whalloped the current #8 team.

A lot of people like to dog on our offense, but they are averaging 37.5 points vs FCS competition. There's room for improvement, but that could be the case with any team.

Who's butt hurt? Your only post on this thread comes after the games have been played and you want to argue opinion on rankings? I answered your question: SDSU and possibly Kennesaw. Granted, I wasn't aware Kennesaw lost again so I probably move Weber from #5 to #4 in my mind. There are several considerations I consider but before last night's game Weber had played 4 FCS home games and 2 FCS road games. To me, @UCD and @SAC win are that much more impressive. I have a question, why is my opinion on ranking the only thing you cared about commenting on in this thread?

The offense has had it's struggles but has indeed been improving. More and more the offense is responsible for getting points on the board rather than the defense scoring or putting the offense in a very good scoring position, or field goals which accounts for 6.5 ppg in those FCS games. Including in the improvement, the O-Line seems to be getting a little better with pass protection. Similarly, the ultra-young secondary is getting a little better too.

I try to post on this site as little as possible. It's not something I like to do much anymore. I replied to yours cause I felt it was worth responding to because I wanted to know why Weber has been over-ranked all year despite being 7-0 against FCS teams including three top 25 wins. Two of those on the road in back to back weeks. You are the one who got defensive with the whole "I have to justify my opinion" BS. Hence the butthurt comment. If something as simple as what I said got you so up in arms...maybe a message board with conflicting opinions isnt the place for you.

Right now Weber is #3 and they deserve no less, because right now no one below them deserves to be higher.

Funny, it's my opinion you don't seem to want me to have. I could care less if you think their ranking at #3 is right, that's exactly what they are ranked. Me thinking it's too high doesn't change anything and I'd rather my opinion be wrong. You don't need to uninvite me from the board, I'm fine having and stating my opinions as I want. If you don't like my BS then ignore it.

No one said you couldnt have an opinion...and no one is "disinviting" you from the board. You came to those conclusions all on your own. Which usually happens when people get defensive when others challenge their opinions. You know those things called debates?

 is right.

 IS right

To disinvite someone is to tell them they cant go or do something.

I merely suggested that if its so easy for you to get upset and defensive when someone disagrees with you a message board with conflicting opinions might not be the best place for you. I never said you cant be here or post here. Once again coming to conclusions all on your own.

Hell of a game

Offense - A
This felt a lot like the offense from 2 years ago. Josh Davis and the offensive line were pretty dominant. Constantine had a well managed game against one of the better defenses we will see all year. Macpherson had a nice break out game at receiver. Offense predictably played conservative after building a good lead or this one might have been even more statistically dominant. Weber was a perfect 3 for 3 in the redzone and turned all the scoring drives into touchdowns rather than settling for field goals. 3rd down conversion rate was again above average at 8 of 17.

Defense - A
Defense wins road games. Defensive front was dominant again. Defensive game plan disrupted a very good offense. A few blown coverages, however, our young secondary looked pretty damn good even without one starter. Weber forced two interceptions and could have had a couple more. Two plays set the tone for the game: The safety on the sack/fumble and the corner blitz from Maxwell Anderson which put Kevin Thomson out of the game. Weber was going to win even without those two plays, but they took all the momentum out of Sacramento St. Sac St was an anemic 3 of 14 on third down and 1 of 4 on fourth down.

Special Teams - B
Pretty average game for the special teams units. Lloyd punted 7 times for an average of 43.3 yds with 5 punts inside of the 20. The downed punt at the 2 yard line helped create the safety. No big returns for either team. Tuttle did not attempt a field goal and missed one extra point due to a bobbled hold.

Injuries
Rashid Shaheed (hamstring) did not dress. Tyler Downs (knee) has been out most of the year.

Penalties
Pretty clean game with 4 penalties for 45 yards.

You can smell the playoffs from here.

Sorry, disinvite isn't to tell someone they can't go or do something, it's simply withdrawing an invitation. You thought this board "might not be the best place for me;" that sure sounds like an uninvite to me.

If you think I got upset over this maybe you're a little sensitive to dialog, I never got upset at any of the silly back-and-forth. Care to share any words of mine showing where I got defensive when someone disagreed with me? The only one troubled enough over my opinion to comment on it was you. Oddly, the only comment I remember seeing from you in some time on the football board.

Good write up. Not sure I would go strait As on D and O, maybe A-. We were good, but we still have a lot of room for improvement. I think the best is yet to come. Sac's last TD came with mostly depth chart guys in the game for us. I was glad to see some of those guys get some PT, They work hard and deserve the chance in games like that. :coffee:

Again you seem to have no idea what I'm saying, even after explaining it twice. So I'm not going to bother again, either you get it or you dont..and im convinced now you dont.

You claim you dont get defensive but your second sentence to my reply was "I have to justify my opinion to you"? The perfect respone from someone getting defensive.

Also i havent posted on this board in a while because I havent wanted to. Which I already said had you read more than just the first line of anything i wrote you would have seen that already.
