Perhaps you enjoy watching out defense get shredded every weekend, but I do not. You cannot tell me that you think this defense is going to win more than 2 or 3 more games this year.

I think the defense is good enough for us to win 4 more games. This game went about as I expected it to. What I saw was a D that keeps everything in front of it, we maybe gave up 1 or 2 big plays all game long. Yes, it is frustrating watching the D give up so many yards but they also created 4 TO's, a couple of which were with the outcome of the game still in question. This team is starting to remind me a lot of the 2010 team where maybe only one of the squads was really clicking, but it was good enough to keep us in games and more often than not win them.

I also think we played very vanilla schemes in this one. My guess is that in the UM and MSU games we'll open up the playbook and let it all hang loose.

2-0 in Conference play with everything in front of us - not a bad position to be in at all. :thumb:

Not a very good effort today... the team just seemed to go through the motions. We're very lucky that UND couldn't hang onto the ball, because without the turnovers, that was a 50/50 game.

Did that seem like the fastest game ever? Other games that started at 12:30 were just starting the 4th quarter when this one ended. Weird.

The defense really needs to get better at stringing 3 good plays together. They converted a lot of 3rd downs... I think they had run 6 in a row at one pint in the game. Plus, the pass rush was almost non-existent until the 4th quarter. Who kidnapped Anthony Larry? You almost never hear his name during a game.

No offense, Ranger, but this defense is not comparable to 2010. Despite creating four turnovers today, we are still only plus 1 for the entire season. The 2010 defense was well ahead of that by this point. Again, I hope I am wrong, but unless our defense improves significantly we will get steam-rolled by Montana and Montana State and lose any chance of a another shot at the playoffs.

The 2010 defense didn't really start playing well to after the half way point. We got gashed by Nevada, gave up quite a few yards to the Montana's and even had a bad UNC score 28 on us. Plus, our schedule has been even tougher this year.

The yards given up are problematic and watching Montana's offense against Davis today makes me nervous. But I'm with Ranger in this one. The D has shut down the run the last two weeks which has been our Achilles Heal this season, and I'm not gonna apologize for two 3 score wins to start conference play.

I don't think it's hater talk to say we haven't really played great since beating Oregon State. We just sort of lumbered around on both sides of the ball today. Our pass game was pretty good, but our running game reverted back to being inept. I'm not sure where the Vernon Adams that used his feet to dance all over Oregon State went; he's still throwing the ball well, but he doesn't seem to have that creative spark that he showed early in the year.

Look to Montana to see an example of what to do when you play a team like this. They curbstomped UND and they pasted UC Davis tonight. They just came out and took it to them early and played a whole 60 minutes. If we can learn to do that, look out, because we can beat just about anyone. The unfortunate thing is when we don't play like that, we have games like this where inferior teams are totally competitive.

No doubt the defense needs some improvement but 2-3 games? We should be able to handle SUU, ISU, and PSU. There is your 3. UM, MSU, and CP are all though, but I don't see us going 0-3. Also, our defense is not what wins us games. Our defense certainly did not win us the Oregon State game. I'll be as critical as anyone, but 2-3 game seems very pessimistic.

Some people on this board really need to calm down. :ohno:

Was it the best performance of the season? No. Is there good and bad stuff to take away from this game? Yes. Bottom line, we're 4-2 and 2-0 in conference play while out scoring our opponents 76-33. I can remember in 2010 and 2012 winning a lot of games closer than everyone thought they should have. Bottom line was they won when they needed to. Run D has looked better recently, despite playing lesser opponents, and I have confidence that the secondary will be just fine.

Fricken relax people. You know who you are! This team is going to keep growing and will be just fine.

Go Eags!!
