#6 EWU at UND Game Thread

Some people on this board really need to calm down. :ohno:

Was it the best performance of the season? No. Is there good and bad stuff to take away from this game? Yes. Bottom line, we're 4-2 and 2-0 in conference play while out scoring our opponents 76-33. I can remember in 2010 and 2012 winning a lot of games closer than everyone thought they should have. Bottom line was they won when they needed to. Run D has looked better recently, despite playing lesser opponents, and I have confidence that the secondary will be just fine.

Fricken relax people. You know who you are! This team is going to keep growing and will be just fine.

Go Eags!!

Didn't we start the second half losing in a vast majority of the games in 2010? I'm pretty disappointed in the pessimism on this board. I sure hope our players don't read what their "supportive" fans have to say.

love watching this wsu game..go osu..every win by them makes us look better.
also just noticed wsu is still building crap for their stadium...how much longer do we need to wait for the GATEWAY project to get finished?

Hang in there, 98. Our stadium will come. Last weekend at the HOF breakfast, Dr. Arevalo hinted at an announcement soon. Besides, we don't have the PAC12 Network to pay our bills.

I know I know, but we need to capitalize on our success! Get the ball rolling!
I am about as patient as my 2 five year olds when it comes to the Gateway Project.

all that money from the pac12 network bought them a new coach, new stadium, and they still can't win a big game. loved watching their complete collapse last night.

Why so much hate for WSU on here? I guess I don't get it since they are not our rivals. I would always rather see an in-state school win over an out-of-state school.

Dude, every D1 team is our rival. Especially one we played last year and next and who cuts into our fan base and game attendance undeservedly.

Maybe if you lived next to Cougar fans every day you'd be more understanding. These people lack class. They clamor for attention when all they do is lose and booze. They spend millions of dollars on football facilities to win 3-4 games per year and all it takes to make their season is to beat their big brother, the Huskies. I have ZERO respect for that program.

So every coug fan you know is like this?

The problem for Cougs is that, by BCS standards, the program spends next to nothing and has almost no fans whatsoever. Everything is relative. If you operate on WSU's budget and have to compete against tams like Oregon... keeping up is next to impossible.

That said, EWU needs to take chapter and spend a little more university money on athletics. I'm not talking BCS type of money, but adding a couple mil to the athletics budget would put Eastern more in line with the rest of the Big Sky.

Majority, yes. But what's your point?

My point?

I know a crap ton of coug fans and alumni, more than a few of which regularly go to Eastern games, and several of which are EWU season pass holders. They, almost without exception, love Eastern football and root for us non-stop. A few of them were even rooting for us last year when we played the cougs. For the most part, they tend to have quite a bit of class and are successful (although...yes they sometimes tend to "booze" a little  )

Speaking of class, I loved it when WSU AD Bill Moos (former coug player and Montana AD, btw) bought a large ad in the Spokesman Review congratulating EWU for the National Championship on behalf of coug nation.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as cocky as the next eagle fan in talking smack to coug and husky fans about the most successful Div 1 football program in the state over the past decade..."Washington's Team."

Just "checking" your post a little. :thumb:

I'd say that the majority of the disdain that a lot of EWU folks feel towards the Cougs has to do with things like media coverage, facilities, fans, etc. Add to that the fact that EWU has been much more succesful than WSU in relative terms the past decade or so, and it's understandable why Eag fans get pissed off when they still get more coverage during a 4 win season. It is what it is. The best thing EWU can do is continue to build its football program brick by brick (Gateway) and not compare our program to WSU, UW, or whoever. I think we're just seeing the beginning of where this program is headed.

Sure... Drives me nuts as much as anybody else although it has been getting better. Still not a reason to hate the Cougs IMHO.
