#6 EWU at UND Game Thread

I'd say that the majority of the disdain that a lot of EWU folks feel towards the Cougs has to do with things like media coverage, facilities, fans, etc. Add to that the fact that EWU has been much more succesful than WSU in relative terms the past decade or so, and it's understandable why Eag fans get pissed off when they still get more coverage during a 4 win season. It is what it is. The best thing EWU can do is continue to build its football program brick by brick (Gateway) and not compare our program to WSU, UW, or whoever. I think we're just seeing the beginning of where this program is headed.

Sure... Drives me nuts as much as anybody else although it has been getting better. Still not a reason to hate the Cougs IMHO.

To each their own.

Agreed. If Kalm wants to pull to the Cougs, go for it. But you're probably in the minority from most EWU fans. My hate with the Cougs stems from many generations of Husky blood running through my veins. First and foremost, I'm an Eagle! :thumb:

I'm with Kalm on this one. Coug fans show a lot of support to EWU...

Plus, I'd rather see the cougs do well in the Pac 12, then some team from Arizona or California...

Or Seattle.

Curious question for the peeps still in the Spokane area, but did the local media spend any time discussing how Eastern beat OSU in Corvallis, while WSU got smoked by OSU in Pullman?

Hannah O,
Didn't know Ronnie Hamlin had that much speed. Was going to challenge him, I think I will wait until he get to my age ;) Forever ;)"Old as dirt" . This will make the 3 "SOLD OUT GAME" Just think with the crowd at WOU, the students were not in school. Love seeing those big crowds. Vic Wallace

Why so much hate for WSU on here? I guess I don't get it since they are not our rivals. I would always rather see an in-state school win over an out-of-state school.

Maybe if you lived next to Cougar fans every day you'd be more understanding. These people lack class. They clamor for attention when all they do is lose and booze. They spend millions of dollars on football facilities to win 3-4 games per year and all it takes to make their season is to beat their big brother, the Huskies. I have ZERO respect for that program.

Not really fair to generalize all Coug fans as classless alcoholics. Every program out there has their share of idiots, sure. Even Eastern is starting to get it's share which is actually a sign of positive growth IMO. :thumb:

The majority of Coug fans I've ever been around are a bit jealous of our success, especially given the discrepancy between the two programs' financial situations. That said, they're a passionate bunch and most have nothing but positive things to say about the direction EWU is heading.

No Dopa, there was no mention of Eastern's win in Corvallis after last week's debacle in Pullman. In fact, media here believe the Beavers didn't actually beat the Cougars. Rather, the Cougars were the better team but handed OSU the win. Same old story.

Also, no mention from the Spokane media of the solitary confinement shed that Leach was building on the practice field Sunday night. ;)

GE, there was no mention of the shed because they use a dumpster that doubles as their football program. The dumpster also looks cool when you light it on fire and push it downhill during a riot.
