#6 Sac @ Colorado State

We open as 3 point FAVORITES at Colorado State.
Wow, that’s unreal, I know they haven’t won a game yet and we are 2-0, but still surprising, and they are the home team. That has to be pretty rare.

Looks like Wynn has us as 2.5 point favorite, with 0/u at 57.5.

I’ll hedge and take CSU +2.5 and over 57.5.

That’s certainly gotta be a 1st for us, no? At least during our D1 FCS era.

I can’t imagine all that many FCS teams have been favored over FBS opponents.

CSU is an absolute mess. Hornets cover, not sure CSU will score enough to get the over.

Perfect opportunity for revenge from 2008’s meltdown. We had that game won! I remember listening intently to Jason and Steve’s call, that should have been our first FBS win😡

Does anyone have a broadcast link for the Rams game?
No streaming is provided, must be a feed somewhere.

Game notes say it’s on ESPN+ and normal 1320 radio.

The MWC has an ESPN deal? I thought they roll with CBSSN? CSU's website says it's on something called "Evoca"...so probably only going to be a radio call of the game.

Week 4 - #6 Sac State at Colorado State

The 6th ranked Hornets (2-0, 0-0 BSC) hit the road for a 2nd straight week and head to Fort Collins, Colorado to face a reeling Colorado State (0-3, 0-0 MWC) program. The Rams have had an absolutely horrid 3 game stretch to start the season and the program rebuild under new Head Coach Jay Norvell. The Rams have played some tough programs so far (week 1 at Michigan and week 3 at Wazzou), but have not been very competitive and have lost by a combined score of 33-123. The only competitive game CSU has played was a week 2 loss at home to Middle Tennessee State, 19-34, but even in that game the Rams found themselves in a 34 point hole early in the 3rd quarter.

Offensively, CSU lines up in a shotgun spread with quarterback Clay Millen (61/85, 605 yds, 5 TD, 4 INT) at the helm. With the recent departure of Melquan Stovall (13 rec, 106 yds) from the team, that leaves Tory Horton (20 rec, 300 yds, 4 TD) and Ty McCullouch (11 rec, 100 yds) as the leading receivers. Horton has big play potential who can take it to the house anytime he gets the ball in his hands. The Rams split duty out of the backfield between three running backs. A’Jon Vivens (22 car, 76 yds) has the most production but CSU has yet to score a rushing touchdown. The Rams offensive line shuffled around last week, not sure if that is due to injuries or trying to get this unit to gel but there are a few starters with 2+ years of starts. They have given up 23 sacks on the year.

Defensively, the Rams run a 4-2-5 and have struggled to keep opponents off of the scoreboard as opponents are 17/17 on red zone scoring opportunities. CSU does have 7 sacks on the year and has forced 4 turnovers. This defense is led by safety Jack Howell (33 tkl, 0.5 TFL, 2 INT) in the secondary and has a quality pass rusher in defensive end Mohamed Kamara (9 tkl, 5.5 TFL, 3.5 sac). Nickel back Tywan Francis (23 tkl, 2.5 TFL) is also atop the defense in stops.

CSU doesn’t have much to show for its kicking game. It looks like one of the kickers has left the team and the remaining kicker, Michael Boyle (0/1 FG, 1/1 PAT) doesn’t have much experience. Punter Paddy Turner (16 punts) has had a busy first month but has only pinned opponents inside the 20 once and only has one punt over 50 yards.

There’s nothing intimidating about this Ram program at the moment. While Norvell was able to poach a lot of players from Nevada for his move to CSU, it has yet to bear any fruit. While CSU does have home field advantage at elevation and 22 more scholarships for added depth, I have a hard time sticking with my preseason pick of a CSU win in this one. If the Hornets come out and execute on offense, it should be another FBS scalp for this program…which I’m picking to happen this Saturday as the Hornets avenge that 3 point loss from 2008.

Stingers Up!

There may be a couple of other options to watch the game. There'll be a stream on the Mountain West Network https://themw.com/watch. Also if you have a device or smart TV that can get Stadium, it might be showing up there as well as they show Mountain West Network events.

I'm excited to see them open up the playbook a bit.

If I were to make guesses on how, I would:

See Tau-Tolliver get some outside runs to help setup runs for Skattebo inside.

See Asher have a big game throwing a couple deep balls. Opposing QB's are completing 71.8% of passes on the Rams through three weeks.

See Carlos Hill get the ball in his hands early. The coaches really seem to think he could be a big play guy with his speed. We need a breakaway threat with Gandy out, who I think most of us expected to be that guy this year.

Thanks for the info. Not going to be on ESPN+.
As SD said, Evoca is local broadcaster.

Dang, AD needs to update their graphic and game notes!

I’ll have to find it through the stadium app I suppose? Almost booked a last minute flight, but it’s a small fortune!
