All Conference and Award predictions (2013-14 Edition)

Berry does deserve it. Just look at his stat line from the last game of the regular season:
24 points, 6 boards, 7 assists, 2 steals. In many respects, he played point for Weber this year.

In case any of you Griz fans need help with the math:
Major Big Sky Conference Awards

MONTANA 0

None of which matter unless WSU is celebrating on Saturday night. :bad:

Back to Back....bigsky tournament winners....back to back tournament mvps. When was the last time weber was in the NCAA? I know nobody at that school was even on the team then right?

There are some really, really good big guards in the BSC this year. Jamar may well be the best of the bunch but not by very much and leading your team to a 4th place finish won't get the job done. Huff is very talented but can do some really crazy things from time to time. The kid at NAU and the one at Eastern are also very talented. Berry deserves POY because he is the best player on the best team and nobody else made a stronger argument for it.

Senglin was head and shoulders better than any other freshman.

Bolomboy with the combination of rebounding and blocked shots made the strongest argument for DPOY.

Like I said before, to the victor go the spoils. :thumb: :thumb:

You really aren't one that should be offering to help anyone with math :P

Nice to see Potomac Griz make it out of hibernation and into our forum for his annual visit.

I posted earlier in March too, as well as February. I'm usually around during Basketball season. Here's some math help for you... February wasn't last year, it was last month :-D

Congrats to Berry, Senglin and Bolomboy for their individual awards! Very well deserved and expected with Weber winning the regular season title. Here are the all-conference teams too:

Berry was 1st team of course. Tresnak was 2nd team and Bolomboy got honorable mention.

I'm surprised Harvey from EWU wasn't a unanimous selection for first team.

So how does Bolomboy get DPOY and only HM?

How does Senglin not even get HM??

Congrats to Berry for earning MVP and his second 1st Team award.

Also, even though I have been punking him lately, Jamaar earned a well deserved 3rd straight 1st Teamer position and Huff his second 1st Team award.

I'm kind of surprised Huff didn't get defensive player of the year with how many steals he gets per game. The guy can be an absolute terror for other teams out there, when he wants to be...

Since I didn't watch a ton of Weber games this year, what are your thoughts on Bolomboy as the defensive player of the year? I know he got very frustrated when Jamar was scoring on him at will in Missoula, but I'm guessing he was pretty dominant inside the rest of the year? He did grab every damn defensive rebound it seems like...

Also weird to me that Tomas Sanchez from ISU didn't get a little love. #8 in scoring during the conference season at 15.1 points, #3 in assists (tied with Berry) with 4.2 assists per game, #7 in FT% at 84.4%, and #4 in steals with 1.5 per game.

Seems there were quite a few players that probably deserved at least honorable mention who were left off, like Senglin, Sanchez and others. Like hawkssb04 said in his first post, the talent level in the Big Sky is pretty deep this year... so unfortunately some players who would have been locks for at least honorable mention in previous years were left off this year I guess.

How about picking a 1st team by position?
Center: Tresnak
Power forward: Jois (or Jacobsen)
Small forward: Jamar
Shooting Guard: Berry (even though he started at the 3 for WSU)
Point Guard: McKinney

Looks about right to me.
