"qb still seems wide open with all the 3 guys getting stronger and smarter. the deen kid does seem to be getting alot of the compliments of the staff at this point. they had a 7 on 7 with csu-pueblo saturday. i have'nt talked to anyone yet about how it went. more to come on that! i like the deen kid for the long term fill at the position. yes, he might have a tough time of it this year while he, and our new o.c. learn the system, and what we are up against, but what a future we would have!!!"

I attended the passing game on Saturday and Baca looked real good. He had a couple of TD passes and moved the team up and down the feild. Deen also looked very good. He did not have a TD pass, but he also moved the team very well. Orms did not have the best day, but I am sure he will look better once summer ball starts. Hard to evaluate Labato. He did have a TD pass, but the ball was not thrown particualry well, and the reciever had to make a great play on the ball. As you would expect, the defense looked stellar. The offense overall looked much improved, as they seem to be picking up the offense. I was very impressed with the RB. They made many impressive catchs out the of backfiled.

It would be interesting to hear from others, but from what I saw we looked better than I would have expected

Rocky, who is the RB that you were very impressed with?

I don't know if this has been talked about before, but whatever have to Mark McKinnon? An OL from Littleton, Dakota Ridge HS, signed a letter of intent but was never on the roster. He signed not this past year but the year before, 2009.

Does anyone know if Schwindt is still planning on being a Bear this fall? That might help our depth @ OL
Bryce will be coming to camp in August. He has worked his but off over the summer and I here he's at a solid 305. He was working out with Ryan Miller from CU and realy working on his pass blocking and foot work. I think Bryce will realy help out this year.

Welcome to the board Big Mike. Glad to see that about Schwindt. We need all the help we can get on the o-line.

YES! welcome big mike! there can't be enough of us on this board as far as i'm concerned. keep 'em coming!

great news about bryce and the depth of our o-line. if we can be 2 deep across the front, we have a greater chance to succeed!

as the summer workouts wind down and the season comes upon us, its a great time of year, fight on to victory every week guys. play your best, don't get outworked and never quit on your team or, yourselves!
this team has a great foundation at the moment to move forward in the coveted 'big sky'

i hope we get a new post up soon as the returning guys all show up next week and we have something more to 'chat' about........ i guess will start with the big q? who's pulling the string at qb? are we going to run a multy qb system? platoon all 3 until we have a front runner? wait until week one to name a starter(my guess).

anyone else want to speak up? lets hear it..................

I think we won't know a definitive starter until the middle of the season. Similar to what Montana was doing last year, Selle, didn't win the starting job until later in the season. We've been in this situation before, but I must say, what we have for QBs this year is miles ahead of what we had in the past. That one year it was Brazil(sp?) and that other transfer, they were beyond sucky.

Edit:
New roster is up.

I noticed a few things about the roster - One, Marcus Felker is too fat to play play football. The guy is weighed in at 360. Also, John Burnley is on the roster so is he eligible?

Bd, I have to disagree with your comment about Felker:

"One, Marcus Felker is too fat to play play football. The guy is weighed in at 360."

If you've watched the guy at all you've noticed how quick he is. He's also going to have to be double-teamed by the center and guard because he's a load. That will open a hole between the center and tackle for the linebacker to get into the backfield and make a play. The only problem I foresee with Felker being 360 is possibly endurance (won't be able to go every down). I think the coaching staff would like to see him drop about 40 lbs. but he certainly can play at 360.

We've been hurting for brawn on both sides of the line of scrimage so I'm psyched to see a guy that large on the roster, we'll see if he can play but he shouldn't get pushed around like we have been for years now.

Hi all.. New to the board, played football at UNC a million years ago and needed my UNC football fix.. Keep the updates coming.. I'm in Canada and I don't get much in the way of good info about UNC football other than the stuff that is put up on UNC Athletics website..

Bear Down!

;)

Welcome to the board Jed, stick around, this board will get a lot more active once the season starts. It's nice to see more people joining this board.

i agree, a howdy hello to all new comer's!

everyone take a look today on the web site. a new edition for this year is a monthly newsletter from a.d. jay hinrichs. a real good attempt to being more personable, probablly should have come sooner, years sooner. there seems to be a "fresh start" type of feeling being tied into the opening of butler hancock athletic center. i'm cool with that, as long as we continue to move forward(get better!)

part of this will be measured by fans in attendence. can we all come out and support this year? i hope so!

"bear down" i like that one, a little old school, but cool nontheless!!!!

What happen? It's not a Juco, he went to CSU-Pueblo.

Maybe it's because he didn't want to play behind Brandon Smith, Dominic Gunn, Patrick Walker, Jace Davis,
Darrin McDonald, Chris Morris etc. etc. etc.

Yeah, I noticed Hinrichs' attempt at blogging. I like this -

"Several fans external to the University said we needed a communication vehicle for you as fans and supporters of the UNC Bears to keep up with what is going on here in Greeley, America beyond our regular releases on the web.

So I will now join the rest of the world in this multi-media age by providing a monthly entry to keep you up to speed on the behind the scenes aspects of Bears Athletics."

That guy gets a big fat F for PR skills, but maybe his blog will help. I'll be there on Aug 25 for the fall sports kick off. The fam and I have been going for a few years now and it's pretty fun. Plus, the tour of the new facilities is an added bonus.
