Athletic Facilities

Yes, as I've posted elsewhere tariffs increased the costs of steel roughly 50%. The tariffs were increased AFTER the new stadium announcement a year ago. Pay more for the same size stadium or reduce the size of the stadium are the options at hand.

And no, tariffs don't make nationally sourced materials more affordable. It makes companies of nationally sourced materials more competitive with companies that import materials while also impacting the supply and demand of available materials. Anyone in the construction space (especially at the onset of the tariffs) knows the impacts of what tariffs have had on budgets and material availability.
Many items have NOT seen much impact from tariffs. However cheap POT metal style “steel” Ala the old Bay Bridge Rusted out / Aloha Stadium Rusted out as well.
We don’t want that garbage. Yes concrete w rebar much more durable for 50 yrs. And build it w upgradability to 40K seating to add upper deck or whatever.
You get what you pay for in quality materials.

Looks like SLO’s gym built in…….1959.

Look forward to seeing it in person. They have been selling beer at the Nest the last couple of years. Parking was free at the Nest but have not heard if that is the same for the Pavilion. Wonder if they sold many of the $1410 court side season tickets. Hoping more students show up and that we do not need to bus them in from Turlock or Chico. Disappointing that we only have one D1 game at home, UCSB, before conference play in January. Presbyterian might be D1, but they are ranked 280th. Of course we are ranked 271so let’s hope we can win that one. For reference Kenpom ranked New Orleans 297 and we lost to them in the exhibition game.
