How is it that after almost 20 years, no one has developed a realistic or achievable plan? Even if the Hornets don't win the regular season, all of this negative publicity has become a complete embarrassment.
Well Done!!

I've heard the Well can fit enough temporary seats for 5k capacity. No idea if it could accommodate ESPN though so maybe that is why it is not being mentioned.josephpoint said:Curious about the mention of the WELL being a facility that could host the Big Sky tourney? josephpoint said:I remember that NCAA west region opening round at Hayward State. Sac State was indeed the number 1 seed and ranked highest in the West. It was Sac State, Hayward State, Cal Poly and Alaska Anchorage. I went to the games. The packed house cheered Alaska Anchorage on to victory over Cal Poly and then cheered their Pioneers on to a victory over the Hornets. Then Hayward State beat Alaska the next day and went all the way to the finals that year before losing. Even when Hornet Gym could hold up to 2,400 with extra bleachers from the baseball field brought in that year for games, it was not enough. Nearly 30 years ago and indeed here we are again. This has simply got to be a top priority of the new AD and new President. Enough is enough. And I do think that the negative attention is a good thing. Good things can come out of bad situations that continue to get no attention. No solutions. No efforts. 215,000 alumni and growing by 7,000 graduates a year plus the current 29,000 students are waiting and waiting for something to change and for something to get off the ground for a new facility. Something, anything. How do you built a new arena. YOU START. One dollar at a time. Get it started. Let's GO

Gonzo probably just has to waive his magic wand and tell any scheduled events to reschedule. It would be an even bigger embarrassment if a few student club meetings and intramurals are the reason it isn't held in the Well.Kadeezy said:josephpoint said:Curious about the mention of the WELL being a facility that could host the Big Sky tourney? Not sure if you've been to the WELL, but the basketball court area is as big as about three of the Nest's footprints (or more). There is plenty of room to throw down a mat, bring in a temporary court and our stantions and add 3,500-5,000 temporary seats. It would actually look like we had a legitimate Arena on TV. I'm not sure what this would do logistically to the WELL's normal activities or what sort of talks need to happen to use a "student only" facility for an NCAA event...

OGDEN, Utah (Feb. 20, 2015) - If the Sacramento State men's basketball team wins the Big Sky Conference regular-season title, the program will host the league championship on its campus.
The Big Sky Conference has approved a plan to transform the institution's recreation and wellness center into a temporary basketball arena for the event.
"The WELL" opened in 2010 and is a 151,000-square foot building located just north of the football stadium.
Roughly 3,000 seats, a portable court, a lighting structure, and basketball stanchions will be moved to "The WELL" to create a suitable venue for the championship. The Sacramento Kings NBA franchise will provide the basketball stanchions.
"It's a beautiful facility,'' said Big Sky Conference Deputy Commissioner Ron Loghry, who toured 'The WELL' on Thursday. "Everyone on Sacramento State's campus is working hard to make it a reality. It will be a great venue for the championship.''
