BSC Tournament?

Really glad to see this. The Well seems by far the best of the options. Keeps it in Sac... the building is a nice feature of the campus... etc.

Regardless of how the BSC standings pan out, it's good to see the tournament shed new light on the need for an arena. Something needs to drive urgency and reinvigorate discussions on a new facility. Perhaps this will underscore the need to the greater community and alumni base.

I've got my checkbook ready. Now if only someone would come asking for arena donations.

my check book and any volunteer efforts are ready as well. What is the Sac State administration waiting for to get something going? A question that has been a baffling one for decades. Where is that leader who will step up and lead us? Waiting for that leader.

Everything about Sac Sate is so positive and so great

EXCEPT

drum follll............

the gym.

Such a screaming and obvious need to fix at Sac State to bring the image of the school to everything great that Sac State is. Why this has not been a priority and an obvious need to get taken care of is mind boggling.

We have new facilities and buildings all over campus, all surrounding little 60 year old Hornet Gym.

Baffling.

It is quite obvious unfortunately. You have a socialist state government who views private business and higher education as an evil entity. Beaurecratic button pushers are hired to lead these universities and their main goal is to be a state robot and not rock the system.

There have been no state built buildings on campus since Moonbeam Brown took over and there are no funds in the budget to build any new buildings at basically any CSU. Check the regent reports, no provision is made year after year for new state funded buildings under this administration. All the new buildings were approved before 2008.

Athletic facilities can't be built with state funds anyway, so Gonzo shriveled up when the hired help threatened to impeach him. The school needs a person with an MBA to run it like a business and not another DMV office.

I don't see it changing.

was thinking about the whole issue of the WELL being the host site, which I think is totally AWESOME and so hope it comes to that. Would be so cool to see how they would put the biggest inside gathering place in Sac State history together . Bet it will look great.

And was thinking more about the basketball arenas in the big Sky. All bigger of course than Hornet Gym and some very nice. And then I was thinking about Idaho, Idaho State and Northern Arizona. Are not these three places make shift basketball courts in football dome stadiums? All odd looking courts that are not basketball arenas at all. Seems like the WELL would not be all that different then these places. Not so out of the ordinary at all in the Big Sky.

And would it not be great for the Big Sky conference to have the tourney in Sacramento? Sacramento which has over 2 Million TV viewers not to mention about 35 other million TV viewers just in CA compared to very small markets in most Big Sky towns. Me thinks the casual college basketball fan would be happy to tune in to a championship tourney game or two happening at Sac State, a first. CA fans would be interested in the CA school in the Big Sky. CA fans would have all sorts of connections to Sac State in some , way , shape or frame of reference. The Big Sky would actually be very lucky to have Sac State host. Time for the big Sky to think outside of the Big Sky box and remember they have a long time member called Sac State in the California Central Valley that has some nice sunny skies over it. And the 20th largest media market in the US. Sac State hosting the tourney is not a liability at all. It's a huge opportunity for the stagnant Big Sky to experience what it might be like to grow a bit outside of the same old , same old Big Sky scenarios which no one cares about in CA. And that is what just might bolster the image of the Big Sky. California getting excited about a conference they perhaps know little about.

So, theoretically at least, we could somehow host a double tournament split between Reno and the WELL?

(The guys are virtually assured of hosting if they win out, as they hold the tiebreaker with Montana. The girls have to win out and hope for some help, but EWU and Montana DO play each other in the last three, and the previous meeting between them was a one-point nailbiter. If it DOES happen that we host both, the school will have its hands tied in trying to coordinate simultaneous tournaments in two different cities....)

I think if the men win out we have the men's tourney in the Well...if the women win the conference regular season they will host the tourney in the Nest...only reason men can't play at the Nest is there are size limitations put on the mens tourney because ESPN will need more room than is available at the Nest to televize the final.

thought of this possibility as well.

Would not that be so amazing if both tourneys were held at Sac State a few thousand feet a part on campus. I do expect the women to finish out with three wins over Portland State, SUU and NAU at Hornet Gym. See them fighting hard to win the last three Big Sky games. You never count out a Hornet basketball team . A Hornet basketball team takes on all contenders and fights until the end. Would need a lot to happen in our favor for Montana to fall. But you never know.

PGP: That's actually a great possibility I didn't consider. That could work wonders for scheduling, because games could go simultaneously and the naturally separated parking wouldn't create issues, either.

Naturally, we'd all love to have a legit new arena, but your idea COULD be workable. I like it.

What say SD, SHA, and GCM? SacRat? Kadeezy?

Keep working on those bleachers in the Well as the Montana fans are going nuts about our possible hosting of the tournament. At least if they come down here for the tournament they won't have to bring their sheep to keep them warm at night. LOL And the ewes will be able to sleep tight too.

SD knows this too, but eGriz is in full-on meltdown mode right now. They still say they will likely host the tournament because they'll win out and we'll go 0-3.

After listening to Mikh's interview on BSC site, I know the team is getting mentally ready to go to war. I still feel our seniors are the difference with their experience. The games still have to be played but I like our position.

 Yup.
Atop the reasons to want to hosting the BSCT is to embarrass Gonzo on his way out the door. Not so far down that list is to see egriz go full retard because of it.
