Come on....yall, bring on some real questions...

Nice question talhad, that was wack! Next your gonna ask me, it was the 1980 championship game, with 3 minutes to go who was sitting in the 3rd seat from the end of the bench.

Who is the only team in Big Sky History Weber State does not have a winning record against?

Whether or not its a trick question no one...in fact UM has the most wins against us of all the big sky schools and they are 43-62 against us and just 13-38 in Ogden.

Now if you had all former big sky schools. you have to add in boise st, idaho, nevada, cs-northridge, and gonzaga...

all of which have overall losing records to weber state at home and on the road.

I guess we too good!!

we are 29-14 vs gonzaga 21-1 in ogden
we are 54-17 vs idaho and 21-1 in ogden
are are 42-19 vs boise state

nevada and northridge i'd have to look up. oh btw, all these records are from memory so they could be slightly off but neither idaho or gonzaga have more than 1 win at weber. lol

wsu record vs current big sky members:

1st record is overall, 2nd is in ogden

Idaho State 64-40 39-9
Eastern Washington 34-19 23-3
Montana 62-43 38-13
Montana State 68-33 43-10
Northern Arizona 61-26 39-6
Northern Colorado 4-1 3-0
Portland State 23-9 14-1
Sacramento State 26-4 14-1

Here is another easy one, but a interesting one.

Weber State is the only school to appear in the NCAA Tournament under two coaches who later became NBA coaches of the year. Who are the two coaches?

A. Dick Motta: WSU coach 1963-1968, our first D1 coach.
record: 98-29, 3 big sky titles

Motta went on to the NBA and even earned NBA Coach-of-the-year honors. Former Chicago Bulls, Washinton Bullets, Dallas Mavericks, and Sacramento Kings coach, Dick Motta patrolled the WSU sidelines from 1960-1968 (JC & DI). Motta left WSU to become head coach of the Chicago Bulls in 1969 and in 1970 he was Coach-of-the-Year.

Motta is one of the winningiest coaches in NBA history and never even made the high school bball team.

The first year of WSU being a DI was 1964 and WSU was the first ever school to go straight from the junior college rankings to DI.

B. Phil Johnson, Utah Jazz current assistant, WSU coach 1968-1971
record: 68-16 84%, 3 big sky titles

Johnson, was NBA Coach-of-the-Year in 1974 with the Kansas City Kings. Johnson coached WSU's 15-0 (27-3 overall) 1969 team. Only 2 teams in the history of the Big Sky have ever gone undefeated, both were WSU - 1969 and 2003. Johnson has the highest winning percentage (84%) in Big Sky history.

NBA draftees during the WSU Motta and Johnson days:
1966 Jerry Trice Baltimore Bullets
1966 Gene Visscher Baltimore Bullets
1968 Dan Sparks Cincinnati Royals
1969 Larry Bergh Chicago Bulls
1969 Justus Thigpen San Diego Rockets
1971 Willie Sojourner Virginia Squires

Any thing else on coaching history? Anybody have any questions regarding WSU and USU bball games?
Big Sky tournaments? Retired numbers? WSU vs the WAC? Mtn West?

Only bball questions...

You need to find the Nevada and Northridge records... Not that I think you are wrong, but because I'm interested to see what our record is against those schools.. Against Nevada its pretty close and Northridge, is close. But I'm sure the Cats have winning records against them both.

Oh crap....

I was wrong, now that I think about it WILDCAT stumped me. Nevada actually has a winning record against us! LOL

WSU vs Nevada: 19-20 all-time (9-8 in Ogden)

But for the record Nevada left the Big Sky with a losing record against us. We have played several times since they left the 'Sky in 1997. In fact our last game against Nevada was in I believe 2004 and we did lose - in Reno.

So I guess WILDCAT didn't reply in time to catch me so I still get it right! ha ha!

Bob.. How can you claim to be all knowing when you don't even know Weber's home Big Sky tourny record, there is no way in hell that Weber is 7-8. Just putting that on the main page of Weberhoops, is enough to set your record back to 0. From my knowledge, Weber, in the last 20 years, is 9-0 (95, 98, 03, 07, and MSU last year). Also, I believe Weber has only lost once when hosting a conference tourny game. Nevada in 84.

You misread the information....

You are correct that we have lost once when hosting.

7 time tournament champs of the 8 times we have hosted.

Our big sky tournament record is 34-23.

I guess i'll count this.

Oh and it has now been changed to avoid further confusion:

"Who is NAU?
NAU is a school located in Flagstaff, AZ, that has been a member of the Big Sky since 1970. They have 5 conference championships - '87, '97, '98, '06, & '07. NAU and Weber were co-champions in 2007 by both finishing 11-5, however, Weber beat NAU in the conference tournament championship and later went on to the NCAA tournament. Even though the 2 finished as co-champs, WSU swept NAU 3-0. NAU has won the conference tournament 2 times of the 5 times they have hosted. When WSU is hosting the conference tournament, the 'Cats have won it all 7 times out of 8. "

9-for-12 now!

How on earth can you claim to get something right when you are the one who initially made the error?
7-8 has never meant... 7 out of 8, but has always meant 7 wins to 8 losses... LOOOOOL 8-12!!! Bob doesn't know his tourny history!! (Evidently, I'm taking this one a bit far...Next)
P.S. Yes Bob I know that you know you Tourny history..Just being a PURPLEFOGDOG.

You sodding sod!!!

Though I am noticing a trend, my WSU basketball knowledge seems to be good on stats, good on anything 2002 to current, pretty much anything before 2002 needs to be in the record books or there's a good chance I wont know it.

I wasn't fortunate enough to have seen all the games of the 80's and 90's like Talhad, SMJ, and AJ. So any questions about average WSU players from back in the day are sure to stump me.
