E. Gittens and Cannon are still in Ogden. If you can't find anyone else, why waste a scholarship when you have two guys who are leaving your program, that you know are proven DI commodities? Also, why bring in a 5th year guy who isn't far and away better than Gittens or Cannon?

Gittens is gone gone. If we resign him I'll go streaking across the field at Homecoming
I agree. Keeping one of those two is not an option at this point, for a lot of reasons.

Between now and fall the transfer list will just continue to grow. You never know when a gem may land on your doorstep. If that does not happen, we sign someone in November.

I agree...however, why go into a season with only 12 guys on scholarship? It is almost like we are penalizing ourselves. Truly, I believe that we will sign a 5th year guy or a transfer before July.
I tend to agree that we will pick someone up by the end of summer. Randy has never left a spot open all summer long. I don't think it will be a 1 or 2. It would almost have to be a big wing or a stretch 4, unless a stellar 5 man came along. If it were to be a player who would need to sit out for a year, they would have to be a sure bet to start the following season.

I still think we shouls sign George Darlings dad rather than let the spot go unused. Then he could have the experience of a lifetime.

The players transferring count is up over 685 now. It will continue to climb over the summer, but the rate should decrease as the summer goes on. The deadline for D1 coaches to tell players if they will have a scholarship or not, for the coming year, is July 1st. The final count of players transferring will be much like last year, well over 700. The average is slightly over 2 players per D1 program. It seems like a lot, but it really isn't, given the imperfections in the recruiting process and how players develop post high school.

As a fan, I never like to see a player leave the program, but I understand why it happens. I always hope that they land where they want and become successful people. On the flip side, I welcome any new players who are seeking their success at WSU.

Kiko has landed at Eckerd College in Florida. If his body can hold up, he should have a chance to be a star at this D11 school. I wish him the very best. He is a great young man and a skilled player. It is really unfortunate that he wasn't able to keep his career going at WSU.

PSU just got 7'1'', Ryan Edwards, as a graduate transfer from Gonzaga. That is a great get for them and may well put them in the top half of the BSC this coming year.

Depth for PSU...but, getting Braxton Tucker healthy would be the best thing for PSU. Tucker was a beast two years ago, but has since been sidelined with injuries. If the Vikings can keep him healthy then I could see PSU being in the top half of the conference. Ryan Edwards could become a major contributor for the Vikings, but after only scoring 139 points and grabbing 109 rebounds, in three years for Gonzaga, I'm not sure how much of a factor he will be in the conference.

Weber State basketball: Transfers trend hasn't hit Wildcats hard at all
By Randy Hollis

It's important for kids to find the right fit, not the biggest fit. They need to go where they can be the most successful, and that's not always the biggest program. It's about going to the right place where you can have success and, hopefully, go where the program emphasizes player development.

Excellent article coming out of the Des New by our good friend Randy Hollis. He did miss on Davion Berry though. Berry transferred from DII Cal State Monterrey to DI Weber State. He had to sit out a year per NCAA rules. I remember telling Catcat that Berry was the real deal coming from a DII. I got a lot of flak for that. Doesn't matter, I ended up being right! :thumb:

Here is a 4 star point guard who just hit the graduate transfer list and will be immediately eligible with one year to play. J-Mychal Reese

There will be more to come.
