Division II

A step back would not be good for UNC. The only sport that is not competitive now is football. It would be sad if the whole program goes down for the problem of the football program. It can be fixed and must be fixed. Stay positive and Go Bears.

You can't ignore the success the other programs have had at the D1 level. Just about every sport has been winning; football just needs to get better at recruiting.

Yeah, DII would be a silly move. Hell, this season alone, our volleyball team has beaten Oregon State (Pac 12), Rutgers (Big 10) and New Mexico (Mountain West). They certainly belong in DI.

Honestly, I would rather scrap the football program and spend more resources on the other sports than go DII.

The college can not afford Division I right now or in the future. Enrollment is down and the debts are killing the college. Supporting a DI program makes no sense; it will never be a revenue producer and obviously all the supposed winning teams are not bringing in students. Frankly, football is a devastating joke and men’s basketball only flourishes when the coaches cheat and embarrass the school. Wrestling and baseball are non competitive and I guess some other obscure sports might do well in the equally nationally obscure Big Sky Conference. A few women’s sports do well but how many of you spend a lot of time at volleyball? It would make the most sense to cut all the men’s sports and just have women’s. If you think football is EVER going to be relevant, you are bemused....

Is this guy an alum? Smart move aligning the perception of your school with Ft Lewis, Adams, etc... I"m not saying UNC is anything great but you align yourself with peer institutions... So are we a regional mid sized university like N. Az, Idaho State, etc. or are we Western State? Don't be such a jerk off...

Blofeld... that was one of the most amazingly incoherent statement I have read in a long while... UNC Football deserves fans like you...

No, your response was, you've said nothing but move down because they are losing... so by your logic every program that struggles should move down... so in 10 years the only D1 programs will be Alabama and Ohio State. Yes, that's ridiculous and also proves me point. Now you please explain your point.. I explained mine... fucking douche bag..

Yeah, cool it on the personal attacks. Blofeld's argument is sound without it.

We have dozens of successful programs and 1 lousy one. While not as successful as Duke in basketball, that would be like telling Duke they need to move to FCS since their football program always sucks at the D1 ACC level.
