Earlier Commit List - Dissolved thread

At this point it's important for this program to balance winning now a well as developing kids. That makes jc recruits an important part of whatever plan this staff has. I am curious about red shirt possibilities, who is expected to produce now, and who they will develop.
As far as linemen go, I am a big fan of players who have the good feet as well as the size to play at this level. I think those are the guys that you bring along in the system. The biggest difference in the big sky linemen and the players who go to bigger schools isn't size, but feet.

This year we are going to be loaded, I mean loaded at the skill positions on both sides of the ball. Brewington, Davis, Lobato, Hildreth, Morris are all going to be great. HOWEVER, we will not be successful if we don't improve on the offensive line. Anyone who watched a single Bears game last season knows this. We need better o-linemen but we also need a single offensive line coach. That's a priority.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome:

Thomas Singleton of Cherokee Trail, who has commited to the Bears.
Positions played: Defensive Back, Quarterback, Athlete

According to Scout, Singleton expects to play Corner.

Thomas Singleton: I will do what ever it takes to win.

Interesting, looks like he had some interest from CU:

It seems to me, and this is just my observation and we'll see how things turn out but it seems Collins it really looking more outside the typical UNC recruiting avenues and beating the bushes more than Downing who seemed more content to just pick up most guys from the local high schools.

I'm sure there are many reasons behind this that I'm not aware of but it seems like a lot of these names popping up are mostly out of state and from areas we've never really recruited.

I like it.

Last night on the coaches show, Collins mentioned we already have a commitment. Does anyone know whome that might be???

I searched high and low and found ... on a lacrosse board ... this cryptic reference to Rebhun:

but it is not true.

I found an interesting quote from Coloradoprepreport.com. Here's what the commit from Wiggins has to say.
The question was what was the highlight of your trip?

"I would say the player panel because we got to hear things from them. They were honest in talking about stuff and how there may be more cons than pros. Coach Collins had a lot of personalized time in our one-on-one meetings."

What the fuck??? Aren't the coaches supposed to let the recruits know there are more pros than cons if they want to play at UNC? These assistant coaches have no clue. They're racist idiots. Maybe the con was that they won't see the field if they're a skill player and they're white?

Really Beardown? So the players are being honest with the recruits and you turn it into a racist staff thing?

I think Beardown is showing his racist side. Noted racist ramblings in his last two post. I thought I only heard that stuff when it came to our Commander and Chief, but I guess it applies to FCS coaches as well.

Really Beardown get a life.

This was a positive quote, not a negative. Lighten up, Lucy. This is a kid who committed. He liked his visit!

Let me explain: the recruit is saying "the PLAYERS" shared the pros and cons, and they didn't hold back when they told us the cons.
Wanna bet they said "you will work hard, you will get up early, you will go to conditioning even when you are sore, you will attend class and do your homework, nobody is going to babysit you or kiss your boo-boos" and guess what? the recruit said that was the HIGHLIGHT OF HIS TRIP.

Wasn't even about the coaches. Read it again.

have no idea how you thought that was something the coaches said AND made it racist and stupid on top of it.

COMMIT.

Sorry to be a tease, but over a couple of days, I followed a series of twitters from one user to another user, cross referencing ... and found we do have another commit. Since this recruit has done a great job of covering his tracks (even using a second twitter account that is a nickname, not his own name) and wants to make an announcement, I'm not going to ruin it for him by spilling the beans in advance.

I can tell you that he visited this month and he does NOT show up on any list of official visitors. Not here, not scout, not rivals, not anywhere. But he was here visiting and had a great time. That twitter pic from the sky flying into Colorado looked awfully familiar. :thumb:

Welcome to the Bears. You are right: you are going to love it here.

And the rest of you reading this?

My prediction is: You are going to LOVE this player. Count on it. He is going to be something special.

What's GREAT is that we are getting recruits to commit knowing that it's going to be tough. They know they will be worked and it won't be a free ride and they embrace it.

These are the kind of character kids we need at UNC.

Why would #1Bearsfan make that up? He's a good poster and hasn't started rumors like that before. Collins is the one who has the racist coaching staff. I'm not a racist at all.

I agree (both you and #1Bearsfan are great UNC supporters and great contributors to this board). I just wouldn't go as far as both of you did based on not knowing what context things were said in. Joking around in the locker room might not be appropriate but it happens. If it's just goofing around then it's one thing, if that kind of attitude is affecting who they recruit or how much time they get on the field then it's horrible. Until we know then I think it's worthless bringing it up on this board.

Knock yourselves out guys, I moved the actual list of commit to another thread.

Have no idea why you'd want our new recruits, who presumably come here to see what folks are saying about their commitment to read this speculative garbage.
