Possible 11-1 and undefeated in conference two years running.
10-2, it is so hard to run the table in conference play. Portlam State always plays us so tough and we will already be in the playoffs with home games by then!

I will be making the following away games, Washington, Montana State, Vegas oops Southern Utah, Portlam State.
I will have to much to drink by game time on Aug 23rd and wife will be pissed.

11-1, outright Big Sky Title, home field advantage in the playoffs.

What are your questions?

As per usual, I suspect that Portland State game will be life and death. I have no explanation for why Eastern plays so bad against them every year and they play one of their best games of the season. All I know is it happens pretty much every year, and a road game with them is going to be tough as nails.

I'd love to see 10-2, and take that in a heartbeat. Any year you can open the playoffs at home is a great year, and that has to be goal #1.

Wasn't too many years ago we just wanted to have winning seasons in conference. Then the optimism flowed and we began to hope to be contender for the conference title. Now we just expect at least a share of the title and wonder where will be be seeded in the playoffs.
Will we get over the semi-final block?

At the senior dinner, Vic was so kind to invite my wife and I to, we talked about the PSU rivalry with some of the players. They agreed the Vikings DO NOT like us. There is lots of trash talk and more than average amount of dirty play. Seems the rivalry is pumped up by PSU coaches.

Ranger picks us to lose against an FBS foe? Shocked.

At least I am consistent. :thumb:

Seriously, though...I could see us sticking it to what should be a relatively weak UW squad. Depends on how well we execute our game plan offensively.

Agreed. It seems to me every game on the sched is winnable.

If we could ever run the table to another title, this year would be the year to do it. We have a mix of young and veteran talent all over the field, a favorable schedule and quality coaching.

EWU goes undefeated. And I mean all the way.
I'll buy that!
The Huskies have a new coaching staff and lost several key players. We won't be sneaking up on them as we will have had two games for them to watch film on and we have nothing to plan for but HEY, we are THE Eagles!

12-0: 10%
11-1: 35%
10-2: 40%
9-3: 10%
8-4 or worse: 5%

Factoring in bad luck, injuries, and the supernatural, I'd say we go 10-2, overall, 2-1 against the trio of UW, UM, and PSU.

Sat Nov 22 Portland State - Loss. We will definitely be the better team, but Portland State seems to have ways to make us trip on our shoelaces. I think Portland State will be better this year and could be a playoff bubble team.

10-2

The EWU game is PSU National Title game every year! We are to them what Montana was to us just a few years ago. Our season was made by beating Montana, well now PSU season is made by beating us! We can expect their best game every year and we have to play well or we are going to lose!

And for my bold prediction...Undefeated National Champions!!! VA wins the Payton Award and Kupp is in the top five voting for Payton award!

Its a Great time for us Eagles!

UW might lose a couple of offensive skill players, but they bring a lot back. Plus, they are playing a type of defensive--- where they really challenge the receivers at the line--- that will be interesting to see. They will still be 17-20 point favorites. I think Eastern will push them a lot harder than they want, but that is a big uphill battle.

Beyond that, everything will hinge on health. You saw what happens in 2011 when injuries happen... a great team becomes instantly mediocre. With 63 schollies, you just can't survive more than a handful of injuries.

Damn...beat me to it. I was going to say we haven't been this excited sinnce 2011.

Forgette, Miller, Pulu, and Katoa are big shoes to fill in the trenches and we will be inexperienced at corner.

I can see us beating any team on the schedule too but there are a number of possible losses. At Davis may be tougher than you think as they made some great strides last year under a first year coach and Manzanares will be the best running back in the conference heading into the season.

NAU loses some key players on defense and of course Bauman, but they have an experienced coaching staff and have some momentum.

Rob Ash also gets to prove whether MSU has moved past rebuilds and can now reload. Like Flagstaff, Bozeman is not an easy place to play.

Agree with everyone else regarding PSU.

SHSU will put up a fight with quite a bit of experience on the line and upperclassmen that expect to win. Nothing would make Keeler more happy than to get a little revenge.

Montana will be improved over last year with the second best QB-WR combo in the Big Sky.

SUU has their three studs back on defense, has their first taste of playoff experience and is hungry. If they can find an offense, this will be another tough road game. Plus, remember two years ago. No fade routes to the top right corner of the end zone!

UW should be 22 point favorites.

That's 6 tough road games for a team with a target on their back. If we finish 9-3, I won't be surprised. 10-2 will make me happy. 11-1 or better and I will truly be amazed.

I will go with 9-3; UW, Sam Houston, and Montana games will be tough.
\NO,NO,NO Sam Houston game will not be what it was in the past. Coach Keeler, will not be running that awful triple option, slant, pitch, speed sweep that we had so much trouble with. (What ever it was called)
They will be a solid ball team but no better than any of the BS upper level teams.

Totally disagree with everything you've said. We will have an awesome team but will not go undefeated. VA will not win the Walter Payton award, but Cooper Kupp just might.

Hmmm, I doubt they will go undefeated it all depends on how healthy the team is. As far as VA winning the Payton, he will be a front runner. It will be tough for him to match last years stats but the receivers will be top notch as always but the running backs will probably be the best we have ever had so that may factor into VA's stats. One thing I hope they do is tweak the defensive scheme as in take a look at N. Dakota State, that was one sound defensive team.
