Eastern Washington @ Montana: Official GDT

PSU was way better than UM on the day and with the personnel they played, but they are not going to thump you by 41 points. As long as you have Cupp and an upright QB, you have a shot. PSU will be favored, but you can win, esp. if your team is as p.o.ed as they ought to be. :coffee:

#6 is totally lost out there. it's crazy to me that we don't have a player better than a freshman to start at corner. where is Wadood???

He was moved to offense a few weeks ago, due to the continuing injuries and lack of experience in our running backs.

I agree that there seems to be some type of "dissension" going on... not sure if its within the coaching staff or within the players itself. Regardless, this seems to be a huge problem and there isn't a lot of unity.

Montana isn't even that good, but we sure made them look and feel like they are a lot better than they are. That loss hurt. I hope MSU brings them back down to Earth on Saturday. I really thought the score would be opposite and that we would come back this past week firing on all cylinders because of that "humbling" loss from NAU. I'm not sure what happened. Offense is the problem, IMO. Regardless of what anyone says about our defense, no matter how they play, when your offense commits SIX turnovers, you can't win. Defense is also on the field too much.

We can point fingers for days, but until we have a player that is an actual leader on this team, we will continue down this unfamiliar path. That is no disrespect to any of our players, we have leaders, but we do not have a visible leader in the QB position. The ONLY thing I miss about Vernon, is that even though he wasn't considered a leader by his peers, when he was out there, he did lead the team. He rallied them. He clapped and said "Let's go, we got this", and boom, next play, we did. Jordan never changes his facial expressions. He's emotionless and lifeless. When he fumbled the ball yesterday, at the bottom of the pile, it looked like he just laid there? The QB needs to lead, and I think that is where we are lacking. I thought Hennessey played good yesterday. He showed life, mobility and confidence, and that's something that the QB position has lacked all season. Considering he was never given a chance to get in a rhythm, I think he played good. It was nice to see Gubrud take some snaps. I'm excited for our future with these two.

I agree that this goes well beyond offense, defense or even QB play, it has to do with heart and competitiveness. Not sure what is going on internally, but when you get your head kicked in by your rival who isn't all that good, it is because you weren't ready to play and compete.

Need to have one of those player only meeting and get the boys fighting together again.

I'm sorry, but this thread was a very funny read.

All the conjecture...all the finger pointing...all the Sunday morning quarterbacking.

I guarantee you I love Eagle Football as much as anyone on this board and probably more than most and I sincerely hope some of you were able to avoid the drawer with sharp objects last night.

I'm just glad that having kids (who are fans and cry over losses), and life in general has forced some perspective on me. Hey! We could be UNI without a NC in the hip pocket...or worse yet, we could be SAC State.

Everything that could go wrong yesterday, did. We're searching and I'm warning you, we may not find an answer this week, and that will be OK too. The coaching staff and players will learn, tough changes may have to be made, and we will rise again.

Salute!

I think it's only natural to reflect on things we are passionate about, isn't it? And there's no better place to talk about those things than in a forum for EWU fans. Of course it's frustrating when we lose, and when we lose like we have 2 weeks in a row. Isn't that what being a fan is all about-- we celebrate when the team wins, and we cry (maybe even throw fits) when the team loses? I didn't go to the drawer with sharp objects after I got home from Missoula last night, but I am frustrated because I do know how hard these players and coaches work, and the end result isn't coming out in our favor. I hope I can learn your perspective someday. My son is only a baby right now, so hopefully, with more time, I will learn. In the meantime, let's finish the season STRONG, and GO EAGS!

I can only speak for myself, but it isn't losing the last two games that bothers me so much. It's the way we lost. NAU just came out and stomped us. That doesn't even begin to describe what Montana did to us.

The sad part is it looked like the team just mailed it in. It's like we didn't even put forth an effort; it's like we totally accepted that we were going to lose and didn't show any heart or guts to make a game out of it.

Compare this loss to the game against Oregon. I didn't hear anyone come across negative after that one. Why? Because it passed the eye test. You could tell how hard we were playing, and you could see us trying our best to execute and hang in there the whole way through. We didn't see any of that yesterday. It didn't resemble the kind of fight we have always gotten at Eastern, where we have a history of making the most out of less.
