Future Schedules

Live down in the Georgia Southern area and they have played two tough BCS games late season the last two years -- Alabama in 2011 and Georgia in 2012 and beaten up the Sisters of Mercy early in the season to get new players and scheme rocking and rolling. To remind everyone, they made the semi's both seasons.

Love that the football staff and team step up to play well in these early season games, ala Boise State, against tough competition. 2013 should be a magical season with all the talent and experience coming back. This early schedule is the biggest obstacle and the second is a deeper and improving Big Sky conference.

Terrible stats: Four home games first three away in 2011, five in 2012 (pre-playoff's) first three away. In the magical 2010 season, six home games with two out of first three games at home. Coach Beau is doing a superlative job, shouldn't the AD?

I know the Eagles will step up in 2013, wish they didn't need a ladder to get there. Contrast to Georgia Southern; six home games 2010 - 2012 with at least one home game against a beatable opponent at home in the first three weeks. Just saying.

Welcome to the board and Great First Post...couldn't have said it better myself.

Great post and welcome to the board. I'm down in that neck of the woods, too!

I should be around. Hit me up! :thumb:

Rontheoldwiseeagle, that might have been my boy and I in Frisco. Hell of a game for sure. He is enrolled at Georgia Southern right now and we were hoping to sit on opposite sidelines this past season while the Eagles won the Championship (both teams are the Eagles ;-) Maybe next year. Not sure how he is getting to Frisco as my rig is an all EWU all the time vehicle. :D

Me either. Met a guy out of Lawrenceville once, but lost touch. See the occassional WSU fan. Too many Bama/Georgia fans to count. Not many from the Cheney/Spokane area out here.

I work down in the La Grange area, not too far from the new Kia plant, and all I see are Auburn fans. However, I always stay in Atlanta-Midtown, so I get my dose of the Techsters. That said, you roll more than 2 miles away from campus, and you'd never see another person in Georgia sporting Tech gear.

We are Tech fans. Like Paul Johnson since his days at GSU and Navy. There are a good number of Tech fans here, but Georgia, Gator and Bama fans are the majority. ACC football hasn't exactly lit it up the past couple season's. Clemson will need to step up this year with all their talent, FSU should be good and GT may be better without Tevin at the helm. Hard to say. Looking forward to seeing a Ted Roof defense at Tech again. Hope he isn't stepping stoning it again anytime soon. I know the players will enjoy playing his style of defense.

Good stuff Clawman. Glad to know that other fans are sitting back and  that we will have an uphill battle to the playoff's in 2013. Yes, reading between the lines a bit.

Yes, difficult schedule. But I actually think we will beat SHSU like a drum in their house next season. They are a good team, but we know how to beat them now.

Toledo? We can absolutely play with them. We're not talking about Alabama here.

Sure, Oregon State will be a stretch, but we can play with them, too. Look at the UW and WSU games the past two seasons.

Win one of those three games, and we'll be just fine.

EWU can play with a majority of FBS teams of which Toledo and OSU are two. It is realistic to note that we start the season with three difficult road games. Trying not confuse my homer desire to see EWU trounce SHSU with what in reality should be a tough away game in a hostile environment. SHSU does have Bell and Sincere back next year as they are listed as Juniors on the roster. To our advantage, they are losing 3 o-line and 3 db's and 3 wr's, several of whom earned three letters. The outcome will be determined on the field.

Hopefully, the D-coordinator has some time with the bye week to look at some film of SHSU this time.

Nice to see everyone in the country can see the folly of our scheduling... Everyone except the guy putting them together year after year.

Take a look at North Dakota's schedule for 2013--- this is a good one!

Thursday, Aug. 29, Valparaiso, Grand Forks, N.D.
Saturday, Sept. 7, South Dakota State, Grand Forks, N.D.
Saturday, Sept. 14, Montana, Grand Forks, N.D.
Saturday, Sept. 28, Montana State*, Grand Forks, N.D.
Saturday, Oct. 5, at Idaho State*, Pocatello, Idaho
Saturday, Oct. 12, Eastern Washington* (Homecoming), Grand Forks, N.D.
Saturday, Oct. 19, Sacramento State*, Grand Forks, N.D.
Saturday, Oct. 26, at Portland State*, Portland, Ore.
Saturday, Nov. 2, at Northern Arizona*, Flagstaff, Ariz.
Saturday, Nov. 9, Northern Colorado*, Grand Forks, N.D.
Saturday, Nov. 16, at UC Davis*, at Davis, Calif.

7 home games including an opener against FCS-counter-but-no-hope Valpo, no roadies until their game against powerhouse Idaho State in October, and a favorable league schedule without conference games against Montana and Cal Poly (they brought in Montana as a non-con home game). Keep in mind this schedule is from the team considered to have the hardest timescheduling in the conference.

That is a good schedule. Although it looks like their most difficult game might be the one they picked as their homecoming date. Kinda questionable. ;)

I don't think we will see ND in the championship game even with this schedule, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

In contrast, a team that has a lot of talent returning and a favorable schedule is Georgia Southern. Expect them in the semi's again in 2013.
