The season has finally arrived. Tennessee State comes to The Inferno. TSU is coached by Eddie George. Fun.

For the curious, TSU stats for 2021. https://tsutigers.com/sports/football/stats

As has been noted; a full third of their roster looks to be transfers this season. I haven't seen any tape but the RB from Memphis looks the part of a big back and Amerson out of GT was a good back. Have no idea what to expect from QB play with a couple of transfers and TSU added several WR's... Going with mercenaries.

This should be a different team than last year with some athletic upgrades at key positions. https://tsutigers.com/sports/football/schedule/2021

Eags will have to play their game (whatever that is) and adjust to what TSU does. Is it a trap game? Could be. The little I could find makes TSU look undersized but athletic.

The 2 deep is posted. Interestingly, Kekoa is listed as #2 QB and 2 of the 3 LB's are transfers. Glad to see Ely Doyle back as a starter at Safety and Seth Harrison at kicker. Hope he's well and back to form from 2 years ago. I can't evaluate the OL but see Seth Carnahan will be holding down the RT and I liked what I saw of him last year for Idaho.

Brandon Fisher, son of Jeff Fisher,. is D-Coord. He played for Montana and couple of years ago was D-Coord. for Southern Utah. In-between spent 8 years in the NFL. So, he knows bout the BSC and EWU and has an impressive bio which includes weight lifting, chess, needpoint and crocheting. He enjoys teasing cats and riding his electric bicycle along the river at sunset when he isn't pulling wings off fly's.
*His experience in BSC should help somewhat. although our team doesn't look much like teams from the past.

Wide Reciever coach KENAN SMITH has spent last two years at Southern Utah in that capacity and played at Sac State. His nickname is squirrel because of his fondness for nuts.

After watching the video of Coach Best talking about fall camp and this season’s expectations, I’m reminded that Eastern has another valuable asset: a seasoned veteran head coach. Some of my apprehension about Gunner Talkington has lifted knowing that Best realizes exactly where the program sits with an untested, semi-inexperienced senior Qb at the helm. Sounds like they’ve trained him up good and put in his mind that he’s got to be the best version of Gunner for the Eags to succeed. The Eagles need to strike early and often tomorrow, and leave no doubt that they’ll be fine without EB3. I think the game will be close but EWU wins. GoEags

Wow, tons of transfers for TSU. It’ll be interesting to see how much that group has gel’d into cohesive units…glad we’re getting them early on in the season.
