He also mentions coaches that shaped him that were legends in town. We are a town that likes rebels and people who have overcome great odds. They also like people who tell the Man to go stuff it...like Jim Traficant - look him up. The suspensions are just another obstacle to overcome...that is the way he looks at it.luckyintheorder said:
We get it Peteonastick; underdog mentality. Have you ever seen Cheney? Like that your board is back to talking football. Think your OL played great against a tough Wofford team and Webb showed great vision and quickness. Beside Hunter Well's return, what changed the offensive production a few weeks ago? Light switch come on? I believe Eastern will be able to move the ball in cold weather; maybe not as much if the wind kicks up. We know our defense will show up and they are playing fast right now. Two teams peaking at the right time in this one. Certainly want to get on YSU fast, but that hasn't been the case all season. Don't think we can use our mutual opponent, NSDU, as a measuring stick in this one; except to say, GG didn't have a great game with 3 picks (2 in the redzone I believe) and we still went to OT.
Yes...we have put the mess behind us and everyone is now back on track. It was a shame that it happened but a setback is a setup for a comeback! Our OL is the heart of the team and has played very well all year. We have been healthy at that position all year for the first time in a long time. Besides spotting SDSU and NDSU 14 points early because of turnovers - we really played them well from that point on. We even spotted Wofford 9 with a blocked punt and a pick. We seem to be a slow starting team..except against Jax...we came out firing. The OL can wear teams down...UNI for example. They took over in the 4th and dominated. We had drives that were long and many plays. Can't recall the exact number but it was impressive. I want to say 18 play drive and 15 also - don't quote me on that. The light came on with Wells. He was the starter his freshman and sophomore years but his weakness is running. If you know Bo he likes QB that can take off. He went and recruited Trent Hosick from a JUCO who could do both and we had a 4 way battle for QB in the spring and fall. Wells was relegated to 4th string. Davis played well the first three games but suffered a serious concussion against WVU and was never the same. Hosick came in against UNI and shattered his collar bone. Davis tried coming back but was not the same. Mays has done a good job spelling Wells because he has dual threat but was young. Wells came in and lit this team up. What he brings is the ability to go deep and loosen defenses up. He has managed the games well and limited TO. Wild year at QB for YSU to say the least. Our defense has been stout all year. Rivers and Moss are studs at DE. Both with pro potential. Last weak they were limited to staying home and reading instead of teeing off like usual. I expect them to be cut loose this week. Our linebackers are solid and support a strong interior line. We have played well at Dback all year also. I am not too worried about losing some d backs to possible suspensions -we have two D1 transfers who can step in. Our kick game has dropped off dramatically. Kennedy was stellar all year - got injured?? and has not been the same. I would expect us to be going for some 4th downs in your territory if he is not feeling it. Can't imagine kicking a rock in 0 degree weather anyhow. I look forward to a great game!! Two great teams! Going to be exciting!! Stay warm!
