hmmmm Dopa, thought it was four games as well and not restricted to just the first four games. Can't find where it's clearly defined as only the 1st four.

I can't say I know this for certain... I haven't looked at the NCAA rule book, well, ever.

If you listen to "Playbook" with Childers and Neuheisal, they were discussing the rule when Kelly Bryant transferred out of Clemson. They said the fifth game will be a big item moving forward because any player wanting to redshirt is done with their season at that time. They specifically said the redshirt rule only applies to those first games. Now if they were mistaken, then I would also be sharing bad info.

No mention of limit to first four games that I can find anywhere. SI said any games during the season.

From Colter's power rankings. Not sure if everyone caught this:

"It’s unknown the timetable for Gubrud’s return, but a source from inside the Big Sky Conference said he will likely be out for the rest of October at least."

Hopefully he won't be needed against the Vandals, but UCD is heading this way soon. I know a lot of programs keep injury updates to the minimum these days, but it can be a little frustrating as a fan.

Damn, that kind of sucks. I'm glad our QB of the future is getting some reps, but only scoring 6 points made for a long bye week. Anyone with some inside information here?

Whenever it is he comes back, if ever, it is doubtful he will jump back to the game day form we are accustomed to seeing.

Hallelujah!

The word I heard was a partial muscle tear that limited the movement of the foot. It's an incredibly rare injury and there's no "accepted" treatment or timetable to recover. Basically, if his foot works, he's good. If it doesn't, he's not.

Guess we'll know more tomorrow. Would love to have him healthy and 100 percent for the playoff's. (cart ==> horse)

Maybe a little two QB system so as to get Gage back in game shape yet EB3 still in the flow of gameday.
Looking like the UC Davis game will define our season.

True. However, if the Idaho game is a loss, it puts our backs against the wall with every game a must-win moving forward just to make the playoffs. Plus, a loss in the Idaho game pretty much eliminates us from the conference race.

Look at all of these injured players coming back this week to play Idaho. As Best said on Monday night's podcast, the bye-week could not have come at a better time.

From the SR:
"It’s been nearly a month since EWU All-American quarterback Gage Gubrud injured his foot in a 34-17 win at Montana State.

After sitting out two games with a protective boot, Gubrud was in full pads on Tuesday following a bye week, and he was getting reps with the first-team offense.

The boot was off, too.

EWU head coach Aaron Best said he won’t know the status of Gubrud for the game with Idaho until Wednesday.

“We’re going to give it the go today,” Best said. “But he’s in pads today like everyone else, so (Wednesday ) is the day (if Gubrud will be cleared to play or not).

“We thought we would have more of an idea now, but unfortunately that’s not the case. We’re going to practice today, see how feels tomorrow, then go from there.”

The bye week also let other Eagles heal up.

EWU starting safety Tysen Prunty, who missed the last two games with an injury, was back in practice, as well as starting left tackle Beau Byus, who didn’t play against Weber State because of an injury.

Starting right tackle Chris Schlichting and starting safety Mitch Fettig, who both went down with injuries against Weber State, were also practicing.

Wide receiver Zach Eagle was on crutches and won’t return until late in the season, according to Best. All-Big Sky left tackle Tristen Taylor, also on crutches, is out for the season.

EWU’s leading rusher, running back Sam McPherson, said he was limited against Weber State with three carries because he wasn’t feeling well.

Tight end Henderson Belk said his team took advantage of the break last week.

“The bye came at a great time in the latter half of the season, because we had multiple guys banged up,” Belk said. “Most of the older guys didn’t even practice last week. Mostly, everybody should be back to full strength.”

I'm not very excited about the Eags being selected for playoffs if Gage is not 100% then. Prudence says Gage evidently is fine suited up for games, but doesn't play if he's not 100% healed and in tone. The decision should be made by the doctors and trainers, not Gage's E-K-G leadership, super confidence, competitive heart and game day adrenaline.

Coach AB just confirmed on the post game show that Gage is getting surgery and his collegiate career is over. Total bummer but it confirms what I’ve heqrd the pst couple of weeks.

Ooof, that's rough. Sad end to a great career.

Any chance he travels with the team to help coach up EBIII?
