Head Coaching Candidate wish-list

I'm not sure what the new president will do at the end of the year, but we are looking at another 2-3 win season. Assuming they will pull the trigger and get rid of Collins, who would you like to take over? My first choice is Wristen from CSUP, Greg Brandon from Mines, Or Stugart from Lindenwood. The last two are alumni.

Give me Brandon from Mines. He's got that team clicking on all cylinders. Stugart needs a few more seasons at lindenwood to see what he's doing down there.

At this point in our history, any change would be welcome. Coach Collins is a good man and I can see he really cares about the program, but it is obvious that a change is in order. I have heard that Marty English might make a good head coach. Does anyone know how the players feel about him? He has a long history with the program. We need someone that can recruit and that would be my first thing to look for. All coaches at this level know the X's and O's ,but the real skill is getting players to come to you that have the talent to win games and the personality to get players motivated to be the best they can be.

Agree 100%. I actually think Collins has done okay at recruiting. Hell, he got a future NFL QB to come to UNC. In my limited time watching the team they just seem so mentally inept. They just can't get out of their own way.

Coach Collins really is a great guy but for one reason or another its just not working out and changes need to happen. This losing culture is affecting the entire athletic department, the fan base ( and the entire University is suffering ) !

Rumors have been swirling since Bob Stitt's firing at Montana that Stitt will make a run at the Northern Colorado job if and when it opens up. Stitt was a graduate assistant at UNC in 1989 and the head coach at Colorado School of Mines from 2000 until 2014.

If you change bring in someone with zero ties to the program. This program needs an entire reboot from top to bottom and an outsider will do that best.

I would say after today's game that anyone would be a welcome change. We just need to have a new start with fresh ideas. I wonder if the administration can see this or do they not care about the football team at UNC? They must see the empty seats in the stands are sending their vote as to what needs to be done. Our "nO"line is a disgrace to the game of D1 football.

I would not mind seeing Wristen from CSUP. I'm not sure what his winning percentage is there, but I'm sure it's high. We need to bring toughness to the program. I'm so tired of seeing our QB's being sacked 5 times a game. I left after the 3rd quarter because I was so pissed off. I could tell the line on both sides were frustrated, especially the offensive line. They're playing their butts off, but they're not talented enough for division one football. 90% of college football is recruiting. We don't have the staff that gets the tougher, stronger kids. We can get good skill guys, but not guys in the trenches.

I cant believe a change has not happened. Is anyone even listening ? Please stop the damn bleeding. And we cant wait till the season is over anf for petes sake dont go on a 3 month national search and miss out on a recruiting season. I don’t know about the rest of you but im begging for a change.

I don't think you could find one person on this board that wants him to stay Haha. We had a poll last year with 100% of the votes saying fire him.

I just don't know what the performance clause says about him being fired. Mustari did recently have an article on Collins lack of job security with two new bosses, but did not mention anything about his contract.

I've read we just have to pay 3 months of salary. From the tribune

"However, if the contract is terminated "without cause" UNC can elect to pay him three months of base salary"

Seems like the names being floated as potential replacements contains were on the list when mr. collins was hired. 20 20 hindsight is a given.
I've got to ask... what did he have that the other candidates did not?

I like Stugart...i mean Lindenwood came after him to pull the program out of the crap shoot, and he has ties here in Greeley and knows how to raise money!

Stugart also knows how to get blown out by UNK. Let's hire another coach with a losing record at his current school.

I'm still in favor of Wristen. If not him, look at another winning coach from D2. Look at what USD Coyotes did with their head coach. I know previously he was at Western Illinois, but before that he was a winning D2 head coach. The UNC job is a good one, not a great one. We need to upgrade pay scales and facilities, but Colorado is a great place to live and recruit.

Yeah, I honestly don't know if he would even come to NC because facilities are better at Lindenwood and they have deeper pockets
