Maybe Jay is a big idiot. Maybe Jay is in over his head. I'd bet the house Jay will get fired this time next year.

So now you guys want a former high school coach hired. Hmmm.

Peterson- who has coached at Colo State, Wash State and Kansas St. and many more over a 25 year span. But he cannot even get an interview.

Deti- who played at Wyoming, has coached at Princeton, Purdue and Eastern Kentucky and has spent the last 5 years here in Greeley cannot even get an interview..

But now yall want a high school coached immediately hired.. Are you kidding?

So Bedell is now in California.. You really think this high school coach is gonna be able to bring in a better O-line coach.. UNC is gonna miss Bedell.. That's not a maybe- it's fact!

How many bowl games has Peterson been a part of winning? My guess is he'll be a part of one next year also.
How many bowl games has Deti been a part of winning? He'll be a part of winning one next year also..
BUT- UNC will have a new coach- a high school coach- and all UNC fans will still be wandering why UNC cannot win..

Maybe Jay is a big dumn idiot!! 19 guys on your coach committee- really.

This is worse- far worse than Downing's love of squib kicks....

The committee wants someone you bleeds UNC, but Jay wanted to leave and go to Kansas.

The only way I would like this hire is if he keeps the majority of our current staff. That way we can keep our out of state pipeline's going. Other wise this is a terrible idea.

Look back at how many games the team barely lost.. A few different plays and a totally different season..

But Jay now tears the program apart.. Fires the coach- kills this years recruiting- has a very good Oline coach now leave- Peterson and Deti I'm sure will be leaving shortly....
And Jay is in Kansas trying to get the AD job there..

Does this make sense? Is Jay the problem?

Is all of this really making this program better?

I realize you are a new UNC fan based on your name so let me give you a little history about the program: during Downing's tenure, this team went 6-48.

Lets let a O cord with 25 years of experience at the D1 level leave- lets replace him with a high school assistant thats friends with a high school head coach.
Lets let a D cord with over 10 years of experience at D1 level leave- and replace him with another high school coaching buddy.
Bedell- NFL experience and D1 coaching experience has already left.

Yep - I hit my head.. This is all making sense! UNC is looking better already..
Maybe Darnell can come back and coach the O-line.

I do not agree that you can easily replace Peterson, Deti or Bedell.. No way!

JJJJJJJJ- I've been a fan now for 3 years. I'm aware of the record.
This high school coach better be good- that's all I'm saying..
Still think Jay needs to have Uhauls phone number readily avaliable..
 
The only way to replace that experience is to bring in a HC with college experience that has a staff in place that is use to running his system but unfortunately we are losing those candidates fast...
 
If we do hire Logan - and folks just because he interviewed, it doesn't mean he is getting the job, he should keep most of the staff including Peterson and Deti. PS - what happened to Bedell? Where did he go?

Bedell- I'm hearing he's gone to UC-Davis.

A good buddy of mine- former head coach of Colo Western- who btw coached at UNC, was just let go.
Anyhow when reading the press remarks- I read that Stewarts d cord was making around $80,000.-
The D cord at Western was making more then Peterson and Deti. Are you kidding?
UNC needs to come up with some money. Where's all the money from the Mich State game, the Purdue game, the Hawaii game? The football team has brought in money- where did it go?
 
NewUNCFAN, with all due respect I am not sure you know much about Dave Logan!! Don't get me wrong I would be pleased with any of the other candidates but the amount of knowledge and connections and I mean connections across the country would astound you! He will bring instant media attention and more money to our program!! But whoever the committee decides upon it has to be quick!!!
 
I'm not for sure you all realize the differences in coaching high school and college.

HS coaches coach and work around maybe 22 to 24 hours a week- that they are actually coaching, or doing behind the scenes work. And only 5 to 6 months a year.

College D1 coaches are 60 hours a week minimum- 12 months a year.
Recruiting, scheduling, Ncaa papers, college intro papers, the coaching itself,
marketing, financials, radio shows, talk shows, study halls, oh yeah dealing with drama...
Sometimes punters go nuts- ya know what I'm saying.

Yall want improvements? You really willing to let a new COLLEGE head coach
feel his way around and learn the ropes?

Quick question- something I don't know..
Is this Jays first AD job that he's the main AD and not an assistant?

That's a good point. We shouldn't need to settle for a coach needs a learning curve. That would be Logan for sure.
 
You guys are just not getting it!! Logan is more than just a hs coach. You are sadly mistaken if you do not believe Logan knows the ins & outs of college coaching. Trust me , there will not be much of a learning curve. Look what we just got done with!!!!

I know what UNC just got rid of. A coach with many years of experience. He knows the in and outs of college ball. With all he knew- still couldn't get it done.

This is way too big of a chance to take..
Hire a new coach with no college experience- no no no

Too much risk factor!

My high school coach was great. Still talk with him and it's been over 20 years.
BUT he was nothing compared to my college coach. Not even comparable in any sense or form.
It is two absolutely different animals.
High school ball is not college ball.

Hey one bright side though- the radio show would be better!
 
At least you got a sense of humor!! One of the best things about this coaching process is that it has brought out a lot of interest! Go Bears!

When did they get their shot?

What if Jerry Jones thought that way and didn't hire Jason Garrett. The entire Cowboy nation wouldn't know that Garrett can change things and turn things around. It took him a week. They've only lost once since he took over.. The Cowboys needed motivation and a new voice.. SOUND FAMILIER?
The Cowboys needed some one to wake them up- SOUND FAMILIER?

I never heard the players talk about Peterson. But we heard what they said about Deti.
Players know who can coach and who is full of crap.

I'm not moving on- as long as Captain Idiot Jay is the AD and in control.
 
I don't think the just a high school coach argument holds water. Heck Mullen is like an RMAC program as it is. :lol:

Beyond that this guys brings a much more unique set of attributes than any other candidate. How many others have been mentioned as possible candidates at BCS schools?

Not saying that means anything but the level of exposure here is way above what we're used to.

Recruiting potential here would be off the hook!
 
You guys seem to jump around from candidate to candidate based on the most part off of emotion. Talk about offensive and defensive schemes, coaching philosophies and how that of your strong candidate will help our program win based on what we have. I would like to be persuaded to feel better about the situation as a whole.

It as been said we are close talent wise and I agree with that; translate who you think should get the job into the catagories I listed above. Do we have "Football People" on this board or just bandwagon fans?

Bring it, a good argument would make me feel a lot better!
