Idaho State

15:02 left in the half, Score 13 - 2 in favor of WSU.

Start to finish, this will be the longest game in WSU history.

I wonder if they will count attendance as anyone who passed through Reed or Holt since the beginning of the game. This could be the highest attended game in NCAA history. This will be the longest timeout for any sport, at least in the BSC.

If we get the same officials, and I think that is the fairest thing to do, then it will be the highest paid group of officials for an NCAA basketball game. They are paid when they show up, not when they finish the game. I am assuming that showing up twice means getting paid twice.

I don't think you got a prayer to be the highest attendence....Basketbowl, 108,731 at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington Texas for Michigan St. vs Kentucky....you would need to have this game cancelled at least 20 to 30 more times to come close....

I was thinking about how many students and others file through both facilities each and every day, not to mention all of the track meets and other events that take place at Holt. It would be a substantial number of people over a three week period of time.

Well that was closer than it should have been, I mean I'll take a 12 point win any day but there was a stretch where we looked pretty bad. It must be that gym. It's definitely a better home court advantage for ISU than Holt is. BTW, the refs were god awful tonight. I know they usually are but they called every little ticky tack thing tonight and some of the calls were just mind boggling. Hope we don't see that crew again.

Time to come home and take care of bidness.

A win is a win, even if it was an "ugly" one! Cannon continued to prove that he just doesn't have th quickness or athleticism to be an effective point guard (defensively or offensively). Jerrick Harding continues to try to show Race that he deserves more playing time. He is #1 on the team in points scored per minute played at 1min 33 secs per point. #2 is Senglin at 1min 38sec per point. Whatever his weaknesses its hard to argue against a scorer. Give him more "pt" Rahe.

Agreed. I think Richaud getting hurt may have been a blessing in disguise, as we probably wouldn't have seen this much of Harding yet. That being said, I still wish we had Richaud out there instead of Cannon.

Got to watch a good chunk of the second half. We were lucky to get out of Poky with a W. It started to feel like last years game a bit; the Telfair free throw extravaganza (he ended up 12-13). BUT, thankfully the guys were able to dig deep and get the W. I heard the first half was awesome and that we couldn't miss. But from what I saw of our guys in the second half, we looked slow on defense and offensively out of sync. A lot of bad decisions. You can tell that Jeremy is playing slower because of his ankle. I don't know what Rahe is going to do, but we need him to heal up quick. It's going to be hard to get him back at 100% without time. Same thing with Kyndahl. We don't have a lot of options with our front court. If Kyndahl can't go, we are definitely screwed. I know there are some on here who don't like Cannon, and that's your prerogative. We definitely aren't seeing the same things. The kid played 8mins last night ended up with 4 pts, 2 assists, and 1 steal. He has a 3 to 1 assist to TO ratio and has decent efficiency numbers when he is in the game. He is boxy and is a basketball player, not an athlete, but he is efficient when he is in the game. Only major issue is his fouling. His defense is actually pretty good. He is after all, usually guarding the other teams best player, since the best players in the Sky are usually the PG.

Telfair got several calls to go his way that could just as easily been an offensive foul on him or a no call. He is very good at baiting the refs into blowing their whistles. He may be the best in the BSC at doing that. Jones was the one that hurt us the most, IMO.

As far as our guys go, we were really, really banged up. Dusty was having his back worked on before the game even started. Zack sprained his ankle early and limped for most of the game. Harding, had one eye nearly swollen shut, and probably needed stitches after the game. Joel patched him up like a prize fighter and he played with one eye. We already knew about Hill and Senglin's sprained ankles. They should just move their practice to McKay Dee.

Being there, two rows behind our bench, I got a real good look at Cannon's contribution to the game. I thought he played great. We needed him and he came through. We are going to need him Friday night as well. He has so much fight in him. I love that kid. He will do nothing but get better.

I hope we get a really good crowd for Friday's game. Our guys will need us to help pull them through all of the injuries.

My guess is that Telfair will not get ALL of the calls to go his way at our place.

Zach sprained his ankle last night? Oh hell! That is not good news. Bad news is that we play tomorrow. Good news, we have an extra day off to recuperate for next weeks games. Even better news, the next three are all at home. That could really help our guys. But knowing that Zach and Kyndahl are dealing with ankle issues and Baker's back isn't up to snuff...well, these are major concerns. Dallas is the only other big getting time in the rotation. What happens if one can't go on Friday? Does coach play the walk on?

As for Harding...he is one tough kid. He is fearless and am so glad he is a Wildcat. He is a scorer and will need him more and more as the season goes on. I figured, once Richaud went down, that we needed other guys to contribute around 5-8 more a game. He has been that automatic production needed. It is safe to say, without him, Weber doesn't win in Logan or Missoula.

Cannon...there is a reason why I do like him so much and that is he is tough. You can't knock him down. He gets right back in your face play after play after play. He understands his current role and leads by example instead of taking fits. He is important because of his toughness and leadership abilities.

One comment about Rahe. I was breathing hard as they cut the lead to 3 points (yep, seeing visions of last year and near pushing the hysteria button -- which is the glowing orange one right below panic). I kept thinking that Rahe would call a time out. Now a media time out was coming, but I was still wondering if he shouldn't just get our minds reset as we had missed so many shots in the second half to that point and were not playing well.

I will say I loved his trust in the team and his calm at that point. I was panicked, Rahe was not. I was wrong, coach was right just to trust his team leaders.

And it was at that point that Harding got several buckets. The kid has one eye, he had to be sore, had to be worried about getting bonked again and I was pretty sure he was headed for stitches -- and he hits a floater, a 3 and gets to the line too. Unreal! I just can't imagine what a crowd favorite he's going to be in a couple of years.

Love Cannon. Love Harding. It is not an either/or argument. I see it as a both/and argument. They are both great in different ways, and they are competing for minutes. This is a great problem to have! The competition will surely make them and the team better. This is a team after all, and I have been impressed by our toughness, playing beat up and on the road.

Wildcat fans, let's show up in force and cheer loud this Friday!

Round II!! Tonight at the DEE!

Personally, I think tonight's game will be closer than most of us would like it to be. Am I hoping for a Wildcat butt kicking? YES, of course. However, I think ISU gained a little confidence in how to play us in the 2nd half on Wednesday. Also, we are a mash unit. By next week our injuries could be on the mend and our guys playing at a healthier level. Today...well, we will have to see.

Current Injuries:
Senglin: nursing a ankle, should be getting better and close to 100% tonight, but not quite there.
Baker: back issues. I figured he should be close to 100%, like 90/95%
Hill: ankle issues he needs some time. But he will play like a beast and do his best. I think he is 80/85%.
Braxton: ankle issues and he is the most recent injured. He could be anywhere from 50% to 75%.
Harding: eye, he should be fine, but not quite a 100%. Maybe like 85/90%.

Should be considered Round 3 with the fact that it took 2 tries to finish the first one.

I have a feeling your right about the game being closer than we want, I still think we win by at least 10, but it will end up feeling like we should have won by about 20. I hope we don't see another foul fest game like the 2nd half of Wednesday's game became. I hate watching those kind of games….especially on the computer. :x

Here's hoping for no home slip up and we take care of Business and we can move to 7-1 in BSC play.

GO WILDCATS

Cannon and Harding don't really compete for time. They play different positions. Cannon competes for time with John at the point. Harding competes with Senglin and Richardson at the wing positions.

IMO, the guard rotations are working well right now. I could see Cannon and Harding getting more time in some games, but it probably won't change much unless there are more injuries. :coffee:

Thank you for the correction!!😀

Its halftime and the Cats looked OK in first half. They played 9 guys and all of them scored with the exception of "you guessed it" Cannon! He did put up some numbers though. In 5 minutes of play he had one turnover, one foul, 0'fer shooting and one rebound credited that was tipped to him by Hill when he was 15 feet from the basket. For one, I am glad that Rahe is limiting Cannon's minutes. He is actually giving him what he has earned. I just don't see him as being as tough, competitive and valuable to this team as others seem to think he is. A nice kid, a good Joe, yep, for sure. But what does that have to do with being a basketball player.

He played fine tonight. Not every player can live up to the highest expectations every night

WOW, Harding! 22points in 20 minutes. How efficient is that... He is earning more minutes big time. My favorite wildcat to watch play. Very aggressive and not intimidated by anyone. Is a creator with the ball in his hands and is as fast as greased owl poop! Just downright fun to watch!!

Cannon played well tonight. However, the one that had a breakout game was Harding. His confidence is growing with each game. Also, I thought Dallas did a really good job while in the game.

Jones didn't go off on us tonight, but the two little guards did a good job for ISU. They are going to win a few games in the second half of the season if they keep playing like that. They could have laid down, but didn't. The score looks like a blowout, but it was a good game. There was a lot of fight in ISU. :coffee:

I agree. Harding was in Beast Mode tonight and was a heck of a lot of fun to watch. That kid is gonna be something special.

I also agree on the game itself, instead of the close game that felt like a blowout it was more of a blowout that felt like a close game. Idaho State is more talented then their record says they are
