SWWeatherCat said:This whole Hayward initiated mess sure seems to be playing out bad for Joel as I suspected it might. His ability to stick with the Jazz is still dependent on what he can give but it sure looks like an up hill battle at this point :-(

Summer League games killed Joel. He looked lost and uncomfortable, kinda like his Sophomore season at Weber. However, the coaches admitted many times, that they weren't looking for Joel to "stuff the stat sheet" but wanted him to work on setting screens, moving without the ball, and playing stretch type defense. It almost seemed like the Jazz were seeing if Joel could play the 3 at times. They had him playing out of position a lot. Regrettably for Joel, he didn't react well to the opportunity/situation. No matter, I really feel the Jazz overacted a bit too much this Summer after Hayward decided to leave. They kept signing has-beens and role players in any effort to get a hit. I think the reaction will ultimately hurt the Jazz's chemistry. The Jazz need young players with potential, not a roster full of role players. They drafted Joel for a reason and he did really well for them playing a stretch type 4.
