LETS STARTA PETITION AND GETT EM ALL FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO NEED FOR POSITIVE NEED FOR FIRINGS ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Easy guys... I think you would not jump to this if you were at the meeting we held. I think we all need to back off and see what happens this year. I also think that we all need to show our support and help figure out what we can do to help. I am as frustrated as the next guy and there is a lot of things that need to be done before football season starts. Any of you that really want to make a difference show up to the next meeting we have and come up with solutions other than fire and hire, because honestly that is not the best solution. We shared some ideas at the last meeting, I don't know if they are any good or if they will help increase fan attendance or not.

We all might think we could do better but it is not our necks on the line. I proposed a WSU themed resturant to be built, so what happens if it is built and 3-5 years down the road it is an complete failure. Sure I think it is a good idea and something WSU is looking at but it won't cost me my career if it is a failure.

Just remember it is not the "fan"atic we are trying to get to come to the games, such as yourselves and myself.

WSUCATFAN, I personally would be much more optimistic had I not heard this exact song and dance from the Administration before.
It's ALWAYS wait until this or wait until then. How many years do they need to get it going?
I'm happy that you have bought in to what they sold you, but until I see more than 5 dedicated FANS passing out schedule posters around town I will continue to be skeptical of the line of "BULL" they sold you.

Hey all I am saying is we can sit and whine about how bad things are but why not try and make a difference, and yes it maybe 5 trying to make that difference this summer but I know I am going to be one of them, and I haven't in the past. I am not saying I have bought into their song and dance but I am trying to be pro-active about making a difference with what we have.

If we really want to be honest with ourselves lets look at the whole problem, it is not just marketing.

1. WSU Football is in the Big Sky, not a BCS conference, not a 1-A conference the Big Sky. How many people that move here are going to become fans of a 1-AA football program.

2. In our own state we are considered 5th on the basketball totem pole. 1. Jazz, 2. BYU-Provo 3. U of U 4. USU

3. Because we are in 1-AA football non-fans consider every other one of our programs to also be 1-AA. I could not tell you how many people have been surprised that we play the teams we do in basketball, even though it was last year we played in the Big Dance against UCLA.

4. Ogden is the ugly step-sister to SLC and Happy Valley, they media and general public don't care what happens past the junction of I-15 and the 215.

5. Most alumnii do not have any school spirit, most students are fans of either the USU color stealers or the Utes, or any other BCS schooland why are there so many Nebraska fans in Utah?

I could go on but it makes me ill thinking of reasons why WSU has problems getting fans in the seats that are external issues. All I know is that next year I want to be able to look back and say at least I tried and maybe I made a difference and maybe not.

This shows PSU cares enough to make sure they get a lot of students to the Big Sky Tournamnet. Our school would never even think or care to do the below. I hope PSU goes all the way unless they play us.

From PSU's athletics site:

The first 700 Portland State students, showing valid identification at the door, will be admitted free on each night of the 2008 Intel Big Sky Conference Basketball Championship at The Rose Garden. The free admission is courtesy of Peter Stott, Tom Fink, the PSU student fees committee, and various other donors. Regular student admission at the door will be $12 each.

Our best game of the year we had 750 students. I think we had a couple hundred at best yeserday.

I do not know if any of you all kno whis or not, but it cost the schools that host the BSC tourny money to host. That little bum woopin that happened on Saturday will cost the Weber What ever the differencae is between paid attendance and $25,000. Now that I am thinking about this the Standard said that there were 2500 people at the game. Some got in for $10 bones, while students got in for $5. That will end up costing WSU a couple of thousand dollars. So for PSU to give 700 free tickets away, that is awesome.

well we do know that when we hosted last yr we made money....plus wsu put no effort into marketing the game or getting additional sponsors for the big sky tourney so the school deserves to lose money on the game.

all wsu even need to break even was...

2,500 regular ticket sales = 25,000
wouldn't even matter if they sold student tickets if they tried.

4-6,000 tickets should hve been pretty easy to sell.

pretty sad time to be a wsu fan knowing how good our team was and no one even saw them play this year. not even the students came out.

I know that there were people that paid for seats that did not show up. Why would you pay the $ and then no show?? BTW on the costs and etc I put up the post about that in the Big Sky Tourney thread.
