Match Ups from around the Big Sky

The Big Sky is off to a decent start this year. I thought I would start a thread to talk about the non conference games in the conference.

Tonight we have 4 games against D1 competition:
Montana @ Pittsburgh - The Griz are 3 point under dogs. This would be a big win for the conference

UC Davis @ Northern Colorado - The Cubbies are 7 point favorites and likely the better team.

Montana State @ Utah State - The Aggies are favored by 5.5, but I think the bobcats have a real shot at getting the win in the Spectrum. The USU team I saw on Friday was the most undisciplined, poorly coached Aggie team that I have seen. MSU has some momentum from their overtime win the other night.

North Dakota vs. Arkansas Pine Bluff - Geno Crandall is averaging 31 points in the first two games and looking lethal from 3. The mighty Golden Lions will likely get beat by 10+ in this one. We will face Arkansas Pine Bluff on December 16 at the Dee.

I think the conference goes 3-1 tonight. But there is a slight chance we go 4-0.

I agree with everything you said there, with the exception of the MSU/USU game. IMO, USU will play well on their home floor and win easily. USU's big men did not match up well with ours, but that isn't the case with MSU, and the guard play is good on both sides. Home floor rules. :coffee:

Good interesting stuff here...thanks & keep it going. :thumb:

I thought Mcewen & Merrill were a hot mess on Friday. I think Hall can easily get the best of them. The spectrum is not the home court it once was. The fact that many of the Aggie faithful are getting apathetic towards the coaching staff doesn't bode well for them. You very well could be right, but if there ever was a year to go to Logan and beat the Aggies, this would be it.

Shaping up to a weird night in BBall. NAU lost by 12 at home, to a team I do not care to google. Montana gets a great win, MSU was up on USU at half, but looks to lose big, and Northern Colorado lost by three to UC Davis.

UI is beating up on George Fox. It would probably be a better game if George would have brought more of his friends along.

I can't believe NAU lost to that team. When I turned it on, NAU was up 22-7.

Really poor quality streaming coming out of NAU. UI's gym looks like a Jr High gym. So many lines, you can't tell where they are on the floor. Awful.

You'd think Idaho would at least have a temp floor they could lay down there. Why can't they use the floor that they have in the kibble dome?

Kind of funny their fans think they should be in an fbs conference and that is their basketball Arena.

That can't possibly be their basketball arena. It has to be an old gym that is now just used for classes and VB. It had a stage on one end, like Sac's gym.

Tonight we have two games against D1 opponents:

UVU @ Idaho State - As much as I want to believe in Bill Evans and the Bengals, I think they will be outmatched by UVU and will lose in the 5 - 10 point range.

Eastern Washington @ Stanford - Vegas has the Cardinal at 16.5 point favorites. That looks to be about right for the final score. Eastern is playing the most difficult non-conference slate of games. It will be interesting to see how they hold up.

Looks probable to be 0-2 vs. D1 tonight. Hopefully we don't see any non D1 losses like last night.

For those who care. NAU got beat by a bunch of flight students:
"Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University-Prescott opened in 1978. The University's campus in Prescott, Arizona, is 100 miles north of Phoenix. The high-desert climate offers nearly 300 days of sunshine a year. The campus has an enrollment of about 2,000 students and covers 539 acres of scenic western terrain, with campus life that includes academic, residential, and recreational resources.[27]"

NAU's Jack Murphy may have just shown himself the door. :ohno:

EWU doing well at Stanford, have pretty much maintained a 5-11 point lead throughout with 10 minutes to go. 3PT shooting by the Eagles and not too hot shooting by the Cardinal seems to be the difference.

Meanwhile....back at the Purple Palace, Weber State gains pretty much nothing by blasting the Baptists by nearly 70. If was fun watching Morris put up double-digits but I can't imagine how this game helped Weber in any way.

EWU was a 16.5 pt dog and win by 6. Could be the most impressive win by a conference team in years.

It gave the Freshman kids who are going to see significant minutes some confidence and help them get their D-1 legs under them, which after watching the Utah State game was sorely needed.

Through 11/14 (D1 Only)

Overall 7-12 (.368)
Home 1-2 (.333)
Road 3-10 (.230)
Neutral 3-0 (1.000)
ATS 12-6 (.666)

3 road wins already, PSU over Portland, UM over Pitt, and EWU over Stanford. Conference teams went 9-60 (.130) on the road all of last season.

We have three freshman that really need to grow up fast -- Doc, Ary-Turner and Kozak. This game helped all three. Court needs to ease up on the before game caffeine
