Hey,
To all Eastern Washington Fans, hello from Katy Texas. You might have some questions about your new QB and his brother Cory, All I can tell you at this point is that you are going to be amazed. How many Qb's have you seen that can throw a ball flat footed sixty yards thru the goal posts. We are all very excited to be apart of your program and we are all looking forward to the upcoming season. There will be other Texas posters on here that are following BLM's college career. We will come up to some of the games and are looking forward to a great season. BTW Cory Mitchell is one of the fastest, measnest WR/DB's you will ever see. Have fun watching, wish we could attend all games. If you want to see video highlights just google 'Bo Levi Mitchell' and click on "Bionic Quarterback". Texas State Championships do not come easy. Enjoy your season and we will all be there with you.

Glad Bo Levi is here and if he is the QB of the future, then bring him on and let's take the Eags to the promised land. The competition this year for QB will cause the cream to rise and you may be forgetting that there are 5 other competent QB's that are also working for that posistion - one threw for 50 plus TD's in California JC, another is 23-3 in high school and yet another also has a state championship in 5A.

That's great that he can throw it flat footed 60 yards through the goal post but it's also got to be caught by one of our receivers. I saw the WSU game that he played in, and well, I think he was the Cougars Player of the Game. He got beat by arguably one the Top 10 worst DIV 1 teams in the country. Just looking at stats, looks like BLM had a problem throwing to guys in the wrong colored jersey - 36 TD's and 33 int's, I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin... And if he is the answer to every football fans QB questions, why didn't he stay where he started the last two years?

I have to admit I am predjudiced and am rooting for the guys that are in the program and hope they do well - they've put in the time, done what was asked of them and have been sitting behind the best QB to ever come through EWU. But I also want the best man for the job and if it's BLM then great I'll support him 100%. There's one thing that you need to know about little old Cheney/EWU that's alot different from Katy, TX - We the fans like our football and the Eags are good at it. They are quietly confident but not cocky - so pipe down and let his actions speak for himself and then we'll all jump on board and support him or whomever the coaches decide.

I appreciate your loyalty and it's good to be a fan and like I've said if he's our man I'll be a fan too - just know that no player on the roster is bigger than the team. You are not doing him any favors by bragging how good he and his brother are. The shoes that he has to fill are gigantic ones - the number 1 offensive producing player in Big Sky history. I don't care who you are, you are not going to just walk in and pick up where he left off.

EWU welcomes the Mitchell brothers! I for one am very excited to see BLM compete in spring ball. Ganted EWU has a stable full of back up QB's none have the experience that BLM has and that has to be respected. We need more BLM fans to come to this board and become EWU Eagle fans so welcome all over. Is BLM's brother a freshman or JC? Go Eags!!!

We will see who gets the QB job by the way they work into the system, granted you dont come all the way from Katy without more than a CHANCE to compete ! If this guys got all the tools to take EWU to the next level it will be hard earned ! I really dont think Baldwin or Best will cater to sub-par performance just because ! The kid from Cali, and our returners will not lie down and give it away ! The competion should be intense and I for one am looking forward to seeing all the QBs this spring !~ ROCK the RED !

Welcome to all Katy, Texas Fans. You will not be angry with this team. Eagles. I've followed this team for the past 10 years. We will be very competitive again. We start our practice at 4pm Mar. 31st, pads only. I just can't wait to see our Quarter Backs in practice. It is going to be an outstanding challenge for all QB. We have some outstanding "RECRUITS" coming to play for the "EAGLES" What I have seen of their films they all looked very fast and mean. I spoke with our RB Tiwan Jones, I told him he will have some speed coming to challenge him. His reply with his soft spoken voice. "I just can't wait for the season to get started, so I can show the Freshmen what speed is all about. Eagle1, nice to see you are still involved. I got tired of some of the silly things on the other blog. Seemed as if we have some people with knowledge on this page., I had to drop off for a while. Let us keep this one going with agreeing/disagreeing with each other. Bee there Wed @ 4pm, see what our team looks like. I will be there. "GO EAGLES" Vic

To "Administrators" of this blog. I am very much impressed with this blog. My Friend Neal Gmeiner told me about this blog, and I am very happy to find out about it. What I have seen so far, all personnel utilizinfg the blog, are very knowledgeable, of what is going on. I for one keeps up with what personnel are saying about the Eagles VB,BB Men/Women,Soccer,Track and Field, etc. Keep up the outstanding work.

Eaglel, If I am am not mistaking, BLM brother left football for a while, we might have him for 4 years. I could be wrong. I remember speaking with someone earlier this year when I heard he had 4 brothers coming, but it was just BLM and his brother. I saw the young Recruit, Zach Chapman, DE/TE. As a DE three men could not keep Zach off the QB. He looks mean like Hell, he also have some very big hands. About 240 lbs, he will be a beast on the DL/TE. Vic

Welcome Eagle fans in Katy.

This promises to be an exciting season for EWU football. The heated battle for the QB position should be outstanding. The coaching staff has done a great job recruiting a lot of great competitors at this position, and Eastern has always done a great job of putting quarterbacks in a position to be very successful on the field. I'm hoping Bo has a great spring, and can use his athleticism and championship experience to raise the EWU offense to an even higher level. As others have mentioned the Eastern roster has many talented QB's, so no ones going to win this competition by default, but Bo has as good a chance as any of them to be the guy to lead the Eagles.

I wish the best for all the Eagle QB's competing this spring, and I hope they all stay healthy. None of these kids are they kind that shy away from great competition, or they wouldn't be here. That's what makes Eagle football great.

If fans from Katy can tell us more about Cory Mitchel that would be great. I know nothing about him.

One great thing for our fans in Texas is that all Big Sky games are broadcast on the internet, so even if you can't make it to all the games you should be able see almost all of them. If you're not already familar with Eastern football you are going to love Taiwan Jones. He will be a junior next year and is one of the finest running backs in the country. We'll return 3 starters on the OL, and the competition for the other two spots includes a former starter that missed last season due to injury. They'll need to replace an outstanding TE and WR, but there are guys that got experience last season, ready to step up at those positions. On defense, they should be much improved. The press release shows only 6 returning starters on defense, but that is deceptive in terms of the experience they are returning. Look for Sherritt (LB), Williams (DL), and the Johnson twins (LB,S) to be big play makers on defense. There will be players at almost every position on the defense that have started games in previous seasons. The DL was green last year, but now returns a solid group of starters. There will be battles this spring at LB amongst guys with a lot of playing experience, and there should be a lot of spirited competition at DB.

Should be a great spring.

Go Eags!

I was in a group setting this morning, where someone who has talked with one of the boosters for EWU Football, openly said that the coaching staff has picked BLM to take the starting spot for EWU this fall. The competition is NOT a competition. It's just something to appease and give hope to the other 5 QB's on the roster.

While I'm sure it has more to do with his game playing experience than his stats, or his arm, I find this unsettling. This kid has gained zero character by being given starting spots everywhere he goes, without having to prove himself. It had been decided by his last game at SMU (prior to his injury), that he was going to be benched or possibly share the position with Padron... People, lets not forget - Nichols didn't have any playing experience when he took over. And look at what he did for us!!! Playing experience isn't everything. What's happened to competition? Character? And how about academics? Heart? Passion...

Congrats BLM and Family. Welcome to EWU.

RocktheRed you are crazy if you think that the coaches have already named BLM the starter before the start of spring ball. I know for a fact that all the QB's will be getting a fair shot at competing to replace Matt Nichols this spring.

What's likely happened is the coaches have put him as the number 1 on the depth chart due to his experience. The rest of the kids, though they may be perfectly capable, haven't played. That being said, simply because a Q (or any position for that matter) is listed as a starter in the Spring is not even close to a guarantee that same player will start in the fall. There will be competition, and the cream will rise to the top. Whichever player rises will have earned it. EWU football is not in the business of giving handouts, regardless of what RockTheRed's tertiary source says to the contrary.

As far as BLM is concerned, I watched him in the WSU game last season and he seems to have the tools to get the job done, though he definitely has some things to clean up (interceptions most definitely) before he is ready. He very well may be the guy this fall, but nothing is set in stone and the other players will get a chance to prove themselves. Those who busted their @$$es in winter conditioning will be rewarded for their hard work in the form of opportunities to compete on the field.

More than anything, I can't wait to see these young bucks strap on the pads and start flying around next week!

Is that the Booster Back Pedal I hear?

Earlier, someone stated that BLM wouldn't come up here "just for a CHANCE to play football". Point One.

His family certainly seems to think he's locked it up, based on various posts here and on the Mustangs forums. Point Two.

Regardless - when the goin' gets tough, this kid up and leaves. But would he have gone ALL THE WAY TO CHENEY if he knew he was going to be faced with a competition? <shaking head>

The guys who busted their a$$es in winter conditioning? You obviously don't know what they're being rewarded with based on that comment. No matter. The competition is on - for backup.

Welcome Eagle fans one and all! It's great to see more posters here, and I hope everyone sticks around, because once the season starts this place should really pick up.

Vic, I'll pass on your praise to Chris and Willie, both of whom run the various Fan Play sites (Big Sky Fans, ChampionshipSubdivision, and eGriz). I'm working with them to make this site even better and to our liking. If any of you have ideas, comments or suggestions for making this site better, please feel free to post them in the Comments and Suggestions forum at the bottom of the main page. http://www.bigskyfans.com/eagles/viewforum.php?f=11

Onto Eagle Football.

I'm certainly excited for Spring Ball to begin. No matter who has been told what in terms of playing time, it'll be great to see the players bringing what they have to the table. I hope the best player gets the starting job, be it BLM, Panelli or one of the young guns. I don't think there should be much of a lapse in our offensive production (with TJ in the backfield, on TURF!!! :D ), but we definitely need to improve on the defensive side of the ball. Having Zach Johnson back will make a big difference, and moving Ena back to LB is also going to make an impact. Excited about this Devin Topps kid, I wouldn't be surprised to see him starting as a True Freshman.

Who all is going to be there at the practices? I'm going to head over in an hour or so.

GO EAGLES!

the common thread among all outstanding football players is a desire for competition. If a player isn't willing to compete or just doesn't want to then I have much less respect for them compared to someone who is willing to butt heads for what they want. Bottom line: The best player for the job EARN the job, not have it handed to him, regardless of what the name on the jersey is. There's a lot of time between now and September 2nd and trust me, a lot can happen to a player between now and then.

To be the MAN you got to BEAT the MAN ! There's no way the returners will let somebody just take the job ! WHO ever gets that QB position will have to earn the respect off his teamates first ! Let the competition begin , It will only make us a better team in the end ! GO EAGLES !!!!!!!!!!!

You are totally wrong here. He left SMU for more than the reason of losing the starting job. Who does he have with him? Know the story??? Don't say you do if you don't. When was the other time(s) he up and left when the going got tough? How many colleges did Coach Jones play for? As for character, I know the kid very well, not family, but close enough. I would be proud to call the young man a son. Folks are weighing in, good and bad, based on second hand information. Let the play and actions speak for themselves. Give the guy the benefit of the doubt. As for his freshman season at SMU... A lot of Freshman including o-line, plus, did not have McNeil and new coach, new system, and a freshman QB. I don't care who you are, you can't do it by yourself whether you are a DB or QB. One man does not make the team. They ALL showed great improvement this last year with a full year under their belts and some key personnel changes. Whether Bo starts or not, he will be an asset to this organization. He's a solid kid, good student, and good teammate. Get to know him.

Good post MLR. I can't wait to see the kid play.

To All, I went to see the 1st practice yesterday, Cold like hell, but I stayed until practice ended, about 615pm. Of course in sat in my truck most of the time, these old bones are not what they used to be when I was 20. What I saw of our Q/Backs made me feel very positive of whom ever the starter will be we will be in good hands. All 6 of them threw very straight & accurate passes. Those Wide Receivers, looked great. Nick Ewards, Brandon Kaufman, Alante Wright,Tyler Hart, are coming into their own. One young man RB, #31 if the numbers are correct, impressed me with his speed, walk on Talley last name.

Another walk on wearing #81, was snatching the balls thrown to him with his left hand. Will be there again today @ 4pm. Spoke with Ccoach Beau, he said it is going to be very competitive work with the Q/Backs. BLM brother Cory will be out next quarter. Keep this name in your mind, Caleb Wortham on the OL, he is going to be great. Brice Lahey did practice, he said he was a little tired, but glad to be out to practice, he still had a little limp in his get up :). The weather should be a little better to day, hope to see you there."GO EAGS" Vic.
