Montana Game

Plenty. Of. Seats. Available.

One of the Montana sections is practically unsold, though most of them are. Portland State sections, about what you'd expect. GA... impossible to tell and who really wants to sit there?

You got yours, right?

I'm "on call" Saturday.

Too bad. You're going to miss an epic Grizzle Fizzle and the rise of the Viking (cue trumpet fanfare).

Just to confirm, you're on call for PSU kicking duties. Yes?

Really don't know what to expect this game. Which team (or rather, which defense) will show up today, the one from the first two games or the one from the Davis game. I'm thinking Montana will come to play, and I am hoping we will, too. Calls do tend to go in Montana's favor, even on the road, so we need to play with poise and not let it bother us. We can win this game. It won't be easy but we can get it done.

We are 0-0 in conference play. A new season. However, if we can't make extra points, can't kick field goals, and have our punts blocked....

...and the defense doesn't show. I hear you. We've had two weeks to get it together (really, we've only played one game in the last four weeks). It's sink or swim time. Montana then Montana State then, is it North Dakota or NAU? Doesn't really matter, they all are tough. We have to be ready. :thumb:

We have 41 penalties in the last four games against UM, so, yeah, I'd say the calls do tend to go their way.

I'm pretty sure you've dropped the first Tupac quote ever for this site. :thumb:

I usually watch the game with my buddy up here in Issaquah, WA but he's at a stupid wedding so looks like its just me and my internet community today. I'll post some reactions here as well as my G+ fan Collection:

GO VIKS!

I am now riding the streetcar with Alan. One abnormal year in 2015 surrounded by crap football since Walsh left.At least we were competitive and could win a few games back then. This is frustrating and sad. Time to put the horse down and move on. Will it ever be a great day to be a Viking again?

OK, for once I am going to be positive about Viking football and mention all the good things that happened on Saturday. We had no punts blocked and we made our PAT's.

I was mentioning it to my brother during the game, how we can play the two FBS schools relatively penalty free, then get in to conference play and get penalized to death. I think it is time to play the kids and get ready for next year. So much talk about playing for the seniors this year and not sacrificing this year because of them, but the unsportsmanlike penalties by the seniors (Tyshon Moseley, Chris Seisay, Darnell Adams this game, Beau Doronslet the last game), show that they would rather fight someone instead of play the game. Bring Eason back to quarterback, move Kraight back to receiver and get ready for next year. We still have Montana State, NAU and Lillard U (Weber) on the horizon and at this point, even Idaho State is not looking like the usual cakewalk. Get the youngsters some game experience and get ready for next year.

As for the game, I did see some improvement from the Davis game. Montana is still a dangerous team and we stayed within striking distance for most of the game. Just too much penalties at the times we could least afford them and too many interceptions. Dawson's TD kickoff return was beautiful and there were other great plays made by the good guys. But, we are 0-4 with still too many questions and I said at the beginning of the year, if we still have questions by the Montana State game, it will be a long year. Well, we do and it is.

That all said, I find out I have to be in Montana this weekend (Helena). I'm going to see if I can score myself a ticket this weekend from one of my Cat friends. See you in Bozeman. :thumb:

Points off of turnovers:
UM: 16
PSU: 0

Ballgame.

Man, it's frustrating to watch another game where we out gain our opponent on offense and end up with another loss due to mistakes. That penalty that brought back the pick six was huge.

I hope that kid from Montana that was absolutely rocked on that block over on the PSU sideline is ok. He looked really wobbly coming off the field.

Does any game in this league look like a cakewalk?

I keep seeing other scores and start wondering if there's any such thing this year... or if PSU is the cake.

Finally, something I can agree with you on. :thumb:

Stitt is sending in the tape to the league for possible targeting. I thought it was a good block and a few Griz fans around me thought the same. eGriz is having a field day, however, calling it a cheap shot, but then, when have they NOT considered any play by us a cheap shot. I though Calo got him with the shoulder, not the head.

Screw them. They broke Curtis Delgardo's leg in 1989 with a cheap hit out of bounds. I'll never forgive them.

I think it was a good non-call. I know targeting and head to head hits are in the spotlight, but on a play like that, as a defender you need to keep your head on a swivel.

I waited all weekend to reply so I didn't regret what I said. Glad I did. Hate to go against the grain but I think we are closer to breaking thru than we think. The good - Over 500 yards, almost 300 rushing again, more first downs, special teams getting better, a good leader at QB, a good Oline, defense showed it is at times better. The bad, QB does not have great accuracy past 15 yards, 100 yards in penalties - too many hotheaded personal fouls, play calling needs to change...please run more slants and drag routes.

Let's see what happens this week. Coaches will decide who we are. Better discipline fixes the penalties. Play calling that focuses on running the ball and keeping 90% of the passes under 10 yards solves turnovers and 3 and outs at key times. Stop going for it on 4th downs and for 2pt conversions. Play blue collar ball since that's all I keep hearing we are. These are all under the control of coaches. We have the players.

I think we are going to surprise people this week. We've only lost 1 conference game. I say we surprise people the rest of the year. I'll post from the game.
