And I agree, I love the metallic red.

I like the flat look. Just darken up the facemask and get rid of that glossy eagle and you got a fine looking helmet.

the glossy decal HAS to go as does the color of the face mask. it looks more orange than red to me. look at it in contrast to the helmet in the background which is the mettalic red they have used for some time. looks a little different doesnt it?

I suspect that this is a mock-up used to show recruits and not necessarily the final version. That said, our comments will hopefully avoid a monstrosity like the WSU alternate gray uniform. :rofl:

Willie made this mock up from Cincinnati's helmet, which is the same shell and uses a matte black. THIS is more along the lines of what I'm hoping for... LOVE IT.

That photoshopped helmet looks pretty sweet. But!
- How would it look in full uniform. Grey helmets on our black unis... I'm just not sure about that...
- The EWU logo does look pretty sweet up close like that, but I do question how it would read at a distance on moving objects (aka people). But Oregon has shown readability be damned with silver lettering on white jerseys for their player names...

If I remember correctly our new black unis have a rather matte looking finish so I do think the black helmet (with a matte decal) is the best option. I do a similar style (just darker red facemask) in my NCAA team builder every year and the end result is quite fantastic.

You're right. However, the Eagle log in the second helmet is just what I was talking about. Do that in white and red on the flat black helmet, and it will be awesome. Also, darken that facemask.

Yep, WAY better. Still would love to see a white helmet with a gray or black eagle. Might be cool for the Portland State game....

It only looks gray because of the flash from the camera. I assure those would be solid black. Any time you make something "matte" or "flat", you're draining color from it. And since black isn't even a color, when you take something from it, it will obviously look different.

Those matte helmets with the red and white decal, are well, horrid to be polite.

Nice work Willie. I like what you put together much better than the shiny decal. Hopefully the decal was just a quick mock up. I wonder what it would look like with the EWU letters in a dark red, with a little grey scale added to the red to make it subtle.

On the index page at the bottom, click "delete board cookies." That will fix it.
