This team and the first game leave a lot of room for improvement. The biggest hole I saw in the Wildcats game was lack of a rush from the DE's and OLB. The defensive scheme tried to overcome this weakness with rushes from the defensive backfield. As the game wore on UNC figured out that they could run around our ends easily; that the DE's couldn't contain them and the DB's couldn't open field tackle well so they went to that a lot on the fourth quarter with big results. We need better DE's and OLB's. Maybe that is the biggest need in the next recruiting cycle. Overall I think the team is improved in their execution. Some holes to be filled. Would be nice if the coaches can figure out how to fill them with the existing group.

For sure, positive vibes for the future, a work-in-progress that can be expected with the newness. Coaches, players have a lot of growth ahead to keep them busy. Glad they escaped with the win! 👏
 
A little bit on after game talk with Coach Kjar (per Brett Hein, SE): he was happy to get the win "take a win anyway we can get it". QB Brown has a dislocated right pinky finger, occurred when there was a "communication problem" in trying to set up a screen play & failed with Brown having to throw the ball away, got hit on the hand. Defense was more rusty than we would like, definitely "we've got to tackle better & I'm sure Coach Fowler will be big on that". "Don't think we did a tremendous job on tackling in space".

Wildcats will face a tougher test coming up with the SUU Tbirds, they gave Montana a competitive game in Missoula, tying it up in the 4th Qtr., with the Grizz winning on a late TD score.
